Jagex hits hard. Time to fight back

Grunt

As I read numerous reports on how Jagex is starting to instantly perm ban members. I believe it's time to hit back. I thought and this has probably come up many times. A bot that auto-reports.
If a group of us ran armies of auto-reporters, Jagex will suffer from lack of resources. This can deviate their attentions from real auto'ers.

Again, this has came up in the past I am sure. But now, I want to discuss and collaborate a possible group effort…what do you guys think?

Here is some math I came up:
Every 30 seconds I believe, you can report. Plus it's not too uncommon for someone to send in 10 reports, because many bots tend to cluster around.

Take it from someone who use to report alot, I thought that if I report alot I will become moderator. Lol, so much for that dream.

After like 6-10 reports, another bots gets logged on, and they start reporting, with an army of 10, that's about 60-100 reports per hour. If only 10 of us would be willing to do this, that is 1000 reports, if 100 of us is willing to dedicate just 1 hour of their pc time, that would be 10,000 reports. Say overload?

update: March 1st
The "Report Abuse" Option will become less reliable. As an attempt to "fix-it", Jagex might remove the option to report Abuse or put more restrains on it. Thereby, removing/limiting a possible way for Jagex to catch us.

Jagex has been perm banning macroers for a looooooooonnng time now.

I thought they gave members a second chance…but now that's changed. I know we have a script that auto-reports. But who uses it?

I'm sure Jagex will find something unusual about someone that is constantly reporting others.

We should make a bot that reports all people, and put it in a famouse f2p hot spot:) (most perferable a rsbot's hot spot)

@above post:)

Make a new account and report?:)

Jagex will be soo busy banning them (rs bot and f2p user) instead of p2p user.
I understand that there are f2p user here that bots with scar, but why? you get 10black mark perm ban any ways…

put auto reporter in PvP world in lumby courtyard, stand on the edge where it is the last safe tile, then it'll report everyone fighting and everyone in the courtyard who has died, there'll be sooo many people to report. We should make a report army :p

That is brilliant. The account used to report is most definately gonna get banned, but if you clog up their system so much. I dont know what they would do.

But how many times or how long can you report before you get banned?
And maybe Jagex has failsafe for this, like account can make max. 10 reports per hour? etc.
I think this fight back method FAILS!
Hmm.. maybe something else?!?

Sounds like a pretty good idea. I mean, what can go wrong? It's not like Jagex can do anything worse to autoers and RWTers.

They might decide to do IP Banning more often though… :\

1) What do you have against RSBot?
2) Members got automatic perm bans too….

Very possible, but I think they will take much more drastic steps, like get rid of reporting feature or only let certain level of characters report…I see this as a favorable ending, which would take away one of their tools to identify bots.

The reason they don't do it 100% times is because they know it's not 100% effective. The fact is changing IP is so easy, there are many ways to do it.

1) What do you have against RSBot?

I wasn't talking about banning legitimate bots. (lol? I never thought legitimate and bots can ever go together in a sentence) I am talking about just reporting players "sort of random". Meaning give enough suspicions for Jagex to not automatically disregard those reports. Therefore they will waste resources to look at those "false" reports, while ignoring legitimate bots.

2) Members got automatic perm bans too….

They only start doing that recently, part of their: "root out the rest campaign". That's why we need to fight back. Making their efforts harder so they won't ban our legitimate bots.

I don't know if this has been done… but what about this?:

Making an include in SRL … => partly auto reporter… it would include reporting people… at random intervals … while you run a script …

Instead of having a script called "super deluxe auto miner"… It would be called "super deluxe auto miner with reporting"

While the script is running it could report a person here… or report a person there… I mean… I dunno.. I think it would be cool for anybody wanting to make an auto reporter script… not a script… but an include to the script…. example: {.include srl/srl.scar/reporter}

That is my first thought to persons interested in reporting….

I was thinking of that too, and make it elaborate with talking and suspicion on other players…lol Cast the attention on other people will make you seem more legitimate. Great anti-ban in my opinion…

Yes I would think it through but how often do we come across each other?…. I mean if you use smart… then you would be more likely to cross paths… but it the reporting would be randomized… I never said it would be the best idea… I only was making a suggestion to any person or group of persons wanting input… ps… use spellchecker once in a while..

Ok, lets see.

Jagex (the omnipotent being in this case) = God.
Players (the very much NOT omnipotent beings) = Ant.

Do you see where I'm going with this?

Jagex controls ALL. They could care less about a small portion of their userbase (aka YOU) that dosen't like whats going on. (May I remind you that YOU broke the rules). Both financially and game play wise, you and everyone else who will sign up with you are insignificant (MAYBE if you got some legits and ALL the cheaters on board with this…). We're talking about the company that REMOVED FREE TRADE in order to piss cheaters off and stop em from doing their thing. Despite what the legit (read: VAST MAJOIRTY) populous thought about it.

The very idea that they would care about some ant reporting non-cheaters is laughable.

Its nothing personal.

Jagex doesn't check every report personally, if they some day get 6000 reports instead of 3000 it doesn't mean anything to their machines, and there aren't hundreds of people on lumbridge courtyard, for sure their system just ignores duplicate reports of same person…

I am sure that there are people (limited resources) who makes the final decisions behind it no? For example, how can a machine know that if someone is trapped or not? Or is doing some other quirky things?

From: n3ss3s

I agree with you, reporting people on Lumbridge yard is too obvious, and those reports will be discarded without any intended effect.

So what rule you suggest reporting him for when your friend tells you he is stuck inside a wall?

Also, rule 1 reports can be somewhat fully be checked by machines, and for rule 7 they for sure have some obvious triggers…

Well said. Also looking at the average iq of RS players they already get loads of useless reports, and I'm pretty sure they don't even check most of them.. They might have some more advanced macro detection thingie that just gets triggered if someone reports you for macroing, and key-words etc. crap for swearing and so on.. Or do you really think they'd bother hiring people just to read some stupid reports about "bug abuse" when someone follows another person w/o "permission" etc.?

Also while you were in that "hahahahah im a supercriminal! I can make new accs and spam reports and only get those banned" idea that if it really pissed them off they could just ban all accounts on your ip.? And yes, they can, and they obviously have logs of the ips etc.

The new CEO? He said he is over 21, he is way older than that. In his 30's I believe… He just tries to appeal to the younger generation. The truth is, I doubt he even understand much of his own game. His level is 61, which is like 10 hours of playing. Maybe he played 25 hours maxed? Probably never even pk'ed. But we will see what he does…

The irony of these plans to destroy Jagex is that we (the cheaters) only exist because they do. If Jagex had been defeated (before they changed wild, etc.) people would stop playing Runescape and cheaters would stop cheating/playing because it would become pointless. Of course the game would probably regain its popularity after some time (since the cheaters who ruined it would be gone).

My final point is that you shouldn't try to kill the hand that feeds you. You can snap at it once in a while to keep it on its edge but if you start planning for its demise, you are only ruining yourself.

I'm not saying that this plan would ruin Jagex. No single plan could do that. Nor is this post even a direct response to this specific plan. Just my view of the situation between cheaters and developers.

[Sorry if this has already been brought up but it's late and I don't have time to read the entire thread]
I'm sure that Jagex has a way of filtering out automated reports. When you report an abuse, your account name is probably used and they could just auto-ignore all reports from that banned account.

I agree with this, trying to destroy jagex would be a bad idea (even though I hate them for killing the game, I hate them almost as much as SOE) as it would make botting pointless which would render all the hard work that has gone into SRL and scar USELESS! (well at least for a while).

This is just my opinion, though I do like the idea of somehow just getting jagex back for some of the things they have done.

We had an auto-reporter a while ago that I ran on spare accounts. It was made quite a while before the trade updates; reported all of the level 3's at any given location for macroing (stuck it by a Yew tree; got at least 20 reports in per world hop).

I highly suggest that this is not done, though. The auto-reporter was an attack at other bots (the level 3's who couldn't be bothered to train to level 30+), not Jagex. This was because every Willow/Yew tree in F2P had at least 3, if not more, autoers on it.

If we make an auto-reporter, it would only give Jagex more reason to be mad at us. Not only that, but Jagex recieves the reporter's name along with the report. Assuming they're smart enough to make life easier for themselves, they probably can sort reports by multiple factors (including sending player name).

With this sorting, they can mass-delete the thousands of reports a bot can generate in one blow, essentially making this a waste of effort, and probably getting Jagex madder at the SRL community.

I would be absolutely against this. After all, "respect Jagex for the challenge they gift us" was one of the golden rules of SRL autoing, correct?

Just my (sin^2(x)+cos^2(x))*2 cents.
