I am buying a new laptop in the UK, i was wondering your opinions of this.

Option 1
http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Samsung_Q210-FA02UK_Laptop_NP-Q210-FA02UK/version.asp?PID=748

Option 2
http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Samsung_Q210_NP-Q210-FA01UK/version.asp?PID=748

Both very similiar.

Or, post me your reccomendations but they must be under £550 price range, be under 14" and if a US store, ship to UK.

Thanks all!

If you want my real opinion, don't choose either. They both have the Intel Dual Core processor and it is crap. Out of the two though I would choose Samsung Q210-FA01UK Laptop, because Vista Home Basic is worse(both are bad) than Premium!

I'd go for option 1. All I see different on 2 is a bigger HDD (of course, get this one if you need that kind of space, but I don't see why most people would ever need over 160gb) and 1gb more RAM, which I don't think would make a difference at all. That stuff's definitely not worth 75 pounds IMO.

EDIT: mormanman, how is a dual core crap..?

of the two I would go with #2 (that's poop, hehe)

You want to get Core 2 Duo… newer and more bus + cache. The Pentium Dual Core was just a cheaper version of the Core 2 Duo. proof —> http://expertester.wordpress.com/2008/05/30/core-2-duo-vs-pentium-dual-core/

I would avoid Vista at all costs to be honest.

Vista isn't bad if you have a computer with the ram for it…..I haven't had a problem at all since I installed it.

Um, yeah, they do that with all of their systems eventually. But the next one up on the "chopping block" so to speak is XP, not Vista.

Thanks all for your opinions, and i bet their is a way to get xp pre-loaded or something.
But isnt their a new direct -x graphics thing or something thats only compatible with Vista?

well, the next one up is this

http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Samsung_Q210-AS04UK_Laptop_NP-Q210-AS04UK/version.asp?PID=748

Is that worth the extra hundred or so quid?

I'm not sure what the Pounds to $US conversion is, but that is definitely something you would be happy with except for the small 12.1 screen. You could actually play good games on that machine. Also you could wipe out Vista and put a XP copy on it (I would), but only if you know how.

Option #2,

But any laptop you buy, be sure to wipe Vista off it and put XP Pro Sp3.

Vista is just a waste of space, and a resource hog.

That's the one I'm planning on getting. I like it better, but it is a bit more expensive.

Out of the 2 you have found I would go with #2

But I think you can find some better deals out there…

Not much of a better way to say it… go with number 2… but there are better deals out there… as for me… I am trying to get a free one in drawings…

I'm curious, why are you people voting for 2? Is it because of the RAM, HDD, or OS? And are they really worth that much more money?

And @mormonman, I thought you were talking about dual cores in general.
