SIG 1 WON

Sig 1 - Zytex

Sig 2 - ToF

Sig#2. Personally I think the first 1 was probably more skillful/harder to make, But I like the way the second one looks better.

Nice job with both of them tho.

Number 1.

Looks good, I like the squares on the side and the blue background looks like ice/fire :).

Number 2 looks too simple.

Please tell which sig was who's when someone wins ;).

The colors really don't flow that much at all.
And the render is oh so small =[
I feel maybe the effects on the second one should reflect something about DBZ to flow well. Or should have made the sig smaller.

The first one I believe is better if the black is taken out (on the top and bottom). It's a nice flow of the colors between the render and background, and it seems you could get lost and thinking its some ability of Dragonair.

I say next 'battle' we give them more of an open choice to renders :D
No little sprites stuff

I just kinda like #1 better. The colors seem to flow better, and I think it looks, well, cooler.

Feel free to hit me for that horrible pun.

Im In xD, can you make the thread? but dont make it like a 5 day deadline, make it a 2 day one please.

Number 2 looks too simple.

Btw the effect is not simple, its quite advanced and very smartly made.

I haz TieBreaker :p

Well, I like one a bit more, especially the squares. They somehow manage to merge the blues together.

I voted for number one because the DBZ one didn't really have any movement to it, you have goku in the middle so your eyes are only really looking there.

I don't like the text on #1, but it's generally nicer IMO than #2 (it's a bit simple etc.)

HyperSecret

2009-02-06 11:53:58

#2 has such a nice flow and blending of the colors, It really is a nice sig (should have worked on the render though).

#1 kind gives me the feel that there was a background that had no depth so they added the wave of smudging/ripples and added the boxes. Not as much organization and flow.

Also since so many people are voting, I would say let it go to 20 votes or 7 days.

Very nice job both of you, both are very good.

I voted for 1

I think that 2 is a little too simple, but still very well done. 1 is complex and flows VERY nicely, with the contrast between the different blues.

Now that 1 won, please reveal the authors ? :)

Torrent of Flame

2009-02-06 14:00:05

I won, but I think that was because of me being unable to do smudge, therfore trying to make it smudge-looking; I failed

Lets say its a tie?

Zyt3x calls it a tie.

Zyt3x was number 1.

And for all you people saying that number 2 has no flow, etc. You have no idea what you are talking about (not being arrogant or anything)

The idea of smudge is to CREATE flow, which is what I did coming out away from the render, and I would like to say, mine is definatley NOT simple. That is the effect that proper smudge signatures create. The render didnt really have much to work on, considering it was a sprite and therefore very hard to smudge.

Obviousley you are entitled to your opinion entirely, but you cannot say that it is simplistic and flowless, etc.

Zyt3x said himself that 'I won' in a private message, even when he won the voting.

Thank you all for voting, but Zyt3x, you win, you got the most votes.

Congratz!

EDIT:

You clearly are not graphically minded. The render is small because it IS a sprite. The colours dont work? Red, yellow and orange work perfectly together, btw?

It is hard to make a smudge signature in a certain effect with such a small render.

I voted for number one because the DBZ one didn't really have any movement to it, you have goku in the middle so your eyes are only really looking there.

Not really. The signatue had alot of movement to it, it worked well with the background and the smudging effect, and the Goku is in the middle because that's where the smudge started from.

Thank you, NiCbaZ. Subtly made signatures obviousley dont always win :D

PS: Im just replying, not being arrogant or bigheaded. Zyt3x won cleanly.

Exactly what I would say.
In this world, noone cares about the amount of work put into a project, the one who looks/works best is the winner.

In this case, I found sig #2 more applealing, which is why I voted for it.

Yours wasn't really smudge, that's why I voted for 1.

The first sprite sig I ever made looked roughly like #2 (same color scheme etc.) and it wasn't really mission impossible.

Also debating about what looks better to people is just silly, don't take it so hard on yourself ToF (raging about people's opinions), #2 had a nice flow and the smudging was good, but the sprite was sort of, hmm… Mild(:p)?

Also if you wanted people to base their vote on the amount of time you spent making the sig you could've aswell mentioned that too…

I voted for number one because I see the style ToF used everywhere… Zytex's was very creative in my opinion…

Good job to both of you though.

EDIT: you ripped the moon in the background from this tut.

newbiezkid, Does mine look sod all like the final result? I looked at a load of tutorials when I made that signature, thanks for the concern though. And your signature NiCbaZ posted looked alot like an Abstract Smudge tutorial I came across. Tutorials are there to be followed. Idiot. And why do I care what you think. You cant exactly say your amazing. And ripping a background? Wtf? Its not hard to find a moon. If you look closely you can see mine is double mooned, I used two different background renders.

GoF, fair does ^.^

EDIT: Wizzup? mine was more smudge then his, just a different style of smudge.

Fuck you if you want to start an argument…

1. I don't think people who copy images from tuts, follow tuts and then enter sigs in comps are not very creative in my opinion.

2. I admit I followed an tutorial for the smudge signature but it's not my fault nicbaz decided to post it. I didn't ask him to do it or anything, I just decided to post it because I wanted to share what I had made.

Heres the link: http://www.sigtutorials.com/tutorials/abstract/abstract-smudge.html

3. Tutorials are there to learn from. To get ideas and knowledge and to be able to compress them to make something of your own.

4. You should care what I think because maybe everyone else that voted gave an explanation for why they voted for a particular signature.

5. I can't see the double moon. I just see the stock image from the tutorial and a smudged background and a few added effects such as sharpening, gradient maps, photofilters etc…

I used the same stock? Big deal? Everything gets used atleast twice tbh..? I looked at that tutorial and made something pretty much completely different?

I didnt copy any images from that tutorial, its your problem if you think that.
Tbh, newbiezkid, I used to respect you. But, alas, no more. You need to stop being so pathetic, imho, and grow up and stop getting angry over a little petty statement. You see, I never started an agrument, stop being so touchy-feely and if you dont like what someone said, ignore it.

ERRR.. Yeah but they didnt.

Stop being so arrogant. If you dont like it, fine. I was just expressing my opinion
