This could be a noob question, and could be a unanwserable question. I dont know. What i would like to know is , i bought a laptop. Nice , and cheap. Its fine for me. My question is , is that it says when i bought it 160gb hdd. I go to my computer and theres a c drive and d drive. My c drive has all my files. and it only holds 69gb. My d drive is empty and holds 69 gb.
Is there a way i can combine them( 99.9 percent sure thats a no ).
Is there a way i can use d drive?
Is there a way to choose which one i want?
Do all i have to do is install vista on the d drive and ill be good?
Thanks for anwsering! I have no idea hence why im asking! xD thanks!

You should get a partition manager, just google it… you can combine C and D into one logical disk.
You can install your OS on any disk, but you should make sure it is the master disk (usually C), so that you won't have to adjust your BIOS to boot from the correct drive.

You can join them, but it's not recommended. Especially if you already have data there, or if you bought it new and it came like that.
Use both. Change your my documents folder to somewhere on the D drive, and store anything else you don't want to lose on the D drive. If you need to reinstall windows, you can just wipe the C drive and keep the D drive (assuming you have an actual windows disc and not a manufacturers image disc). Of course if the drive fails, you loose both, so it's good to have another backup, but for a decent percentage of problems, this set up can make disasters a little easier.

So BACKUP important SHTUFF into the D Drive. It wont mess up anything? Can i put stuff that i use every day into d drive? You can put whatever you want in there, it won't mess up anything. If it didn't come with CDs, how can you wipe out everything? Does it have a recovery partition (probably about 20 gigs)? You can combine them, but unless you have a folder that is larger than 69 gigs, you don't need to, and leaving them separate can help when reinstalling. A manufacturers image disc will make everything like it was when you took it out of the box, and doesn't give you the choice to just wipe and install on the first partition.
Edit: What brand is it and where did you buy it from?

The drive is wiped or the partition is wiped? (Drive=C+D, Partition=C) If it's the drive then ignore what I said about using D.
Np.

Well , drive d is also WIPED. There was never anything on it. When i do that recovery thing Partition is the only thing that gets wiped i think. Im going to start using d now. Thanks!

if you want a partion program to join the programs then Partition magic wont work on vista (as i found out)
so i would recoment EASUS partition manager as it works and looks exactly the same but it works on vista as well
