Old Member Applications

I started wondering today…
Is there a reason old member applications aren't moved to a public or junior board?

As far as I can see it would both teach by example, as well as make the applications board easier to browse.

This is a very bad idea.

Times change, and I also bet that the people that these applications belonged to, would mind.

Sorry.

Actually, I think this might be a good idea. However, instead of "old" applications you could archive recently accepted ones for a period of time (two weeks or so) so junior members have a point of reference on which their scripts should be on par with. Also, it would force members to be a bit more mindful of what they say, suggest, and vote. Failed applications would probably be a bad idea though, since that could embarrass applicants who didn't get in

i like the idea. i had said the same as EC because of very old applications that gt in wth scripts that today people just wouldn't allow through.

but widget's idea of recent accepted apps sounds great.

However like I mentioned to Bam Bam on irc, there is a private issue. Either talks the applicants want to keep private, or perhaps the script itself. Idk, I don't think forcing the apps public is a good idea.

Then don't force it, just ask them if they want it moved when they get accepted :)

Noooo, there wil be more plagirazing..
They have to learn the things and make the script which they apply with by themselves.

I've always thought using bad work as an example to promote good work is fail.

And, TSN: If we move recently accepted and denied applications plagiarizing would be discouraged as it proves we catch people who do it.

No. Give a man a fish, he will eat for a day. Teach a man how to fish, he will eat for the rest of his life.

True, but then again, if you light a man a fire he will be warm for the rest of the night - whereas if you light a man ON fire, he will me warm for the rest of his life

And if you give that man some example member applications he'll know what most members are tough on and might go back and fix his standards.

You can teach him that with some threads entitled 'what we are tough on'.

Ok…
I think that we should at least move the ones that aren't current to a different board so we don't miss any that are still being voted on.

And can we make plagiarized apps public? ^^

Lock symbol isn't enough?

No, for the same reason jagex never has any evidence for rule 7.

All you have to say is that all accepted applications are viewable publicly; there's nothing they can do if they really want members or they could just ask for it to be removed.

"Note: All accepted applications are made publicly viewable unless requested otherwise."
