Ok, I am looking for an free Antivirus software that doesn't use very many resources. Currently I am using aVast Antivirus and it using about 40,000k memory. Any suggestions that use less?
Edit: It is for my autoing computer, so it doesn't need 100% protection.

http://www.malwarebytes.org/This Anti virus does use some memory. a fair chunk. But it's still a very nice one, just because it detects well, and it is has a free version that actually removes all the stuff it detects =).

i use AVG, they have a pretty nice free version. i don't think that there's a free version of Trend Micro, but i've heard that it's good, so it might be worth looking into

I think you're getting confused about its memory usage, because even notepad uses more than 40k. It uses ~900-1000k. Maybe you mean 40,000k?

I'd recommend
avast! Home Edition or
Avira AntiVir. Both are very good, and free.

I'm pretty sure it uses less. But then again, I don't remember avast! using very many resources on my computer.

If you're going to use AVG, 7.5 is lighter.
If it doesn't need to be ultra protected, don't run a constant scanner. Once a week or after you download something new, run SuperAntiSpyware, MalwareBytesAntiMalware, etc. Use a firewall such as ZoneAlarm or Comodo to protect you from prying baddies. Also heuristics based protection such as ThreatFire tends to use less resources than something that scans every file and compares to an ever growing database.

If I were you, I would get ThreatFire and Norton 360. Please don't be a noob and torrent it (ThreatFire is free, but Norton 360 isn't)…

That's crazy…The "flame" tags don't show up in iSpy. Weird.

To be fair this years 360 is better than the last, but it's still a hog.
Get Norton 2009, its the only real anti-virus. I didn't buy mine I got it from a torrent. It only uses up 3% of my CPU 100% less than firefox :)
