Freakin Amsterdam has insane intrawebz.



My upload is usually around 1mbit.

Nobody found my speed to turn themselves on?

ssssst ;) Like you don't get wicked speeds @ UvA. Max speed I got while leeching some newsgroups was 2mb/s due to some gay 512kb/s connection cap and only got 4 connection at highwinds ffs.

Speaskeasy.net/speedtest gives me twice the download.
Although it won't let me post a siggy thing of it, here it is:

Download Speed: 31314 kbps (3914.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1912 kbps (239 KB/sec transfer rate)

I dont mind it though. Both tests were done with 2 other computers on the internet at the same time, and a Playstation. All others were actively using the internet too. I have never had problems with my speed :3

Hahha yeah while i was working for an ISP i raped the torrents on their connections. On days when work was busy as hell i would still get 40 mbits down. And thats in New Zealand which says something :P

hi I test the speed of my internet in many sites I got the best speed results from here scanmyspeed
my results are
download=1.09Mbps
upload=0.87Mbps
I dont know the reason why my speed seems to be slow many of them said that if Cable Internet services share bandwidth with satellite Internet access.
If there are many subscribers using that same bandwidth, it can slow down the connection. kindly guide me how to solve this problem .

That is Download speed and Upload speed.

This is a good tip.

If your Internet speed is 20Mb/s divide it with 5,8.

And you get approx Max DL speed.

That it's not how it works here. I pay for 20.480kbit ~= 2.500 k Byte.

Previously when I had 10 mbit I downloaded with 1.100 k Byte. Now I have 70-900 kbytes depending on day, time, place of the moon and off course the strength of the wind.

Time Warner isnt throttling so much these days…

to be more accurate.. for older computers.. because they don't run flash at full speed, you can test it and see a huge drop in your internet speed just because bad computers lag with flash

Yep though not as good as optic fiber or whatever those faster ones are. It's my home connection as well, I think the upload is a bit slow compared to the download.. :(

the download is awesome, however the upload is bad, im on fibre optic and only get 50

but virgin media are testing 1.5 Gb/s so hopefully we will get that soon
