SRL Archive - News and General

Friends,

As you all know, I have not been very active lately. There is a lot going on in my world and I dont have the time nor the energy to keep up with the "coaching" role as I have done so for the past two years.

As most of you also know, I do not pay for SRL-forums. Dankness does. But this situation has recently changed. Dankness can no longer solidly pay for the hosting. Currently we are together investigating solutions for the future of SRL. Meanwhile I have payed for hosting Dec 2008 and Jan 2009 as well as securing the domain name for another year, so for now we are fine.

We are making backups of the SRL-Databases, since those are our prime concern. I dont want three years of hard work evaporating into void. Even if SRL becomes history, it has well earned its place in a lot of young hearts around the globe, and maybe even helped make the world a better place to live in. I cant allow that to go down unnoticed….but it almost did.

So for now, keep the spirit up! We are working hard behind the scenes to make ends meet.

You don't need SRL to script. This site however has (and hopefully will to come) created a crucial and highly beneficial chapter in many people's lives. I also feel it necessary to thank WT-Fakawi (and everybody else that has helped in the keeping of this website through the years) whole heartedly for his efforts over these past few months. … so… Thank You.

YEah many thanks, I havnt been active on here for a while, Finding it to difficult to learn to script have tried and tried but just cant get it, Some of us are destined to never reach the hallows of srl members only boards,, BUT HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL

Sooo glad SRL is back up. I should be starting a new job son so financially I should be set. if help is what you need, then please feel free to ask me. I would be more than happy to continually donate or pay a portion of the bill to keep this site up and running.

From an advertising standpoint from someone who uses google adwords and other PPC advertising. DO NOT ENCOURAGE FAKE CLICKS.

1) It pisses me off as an advertiser. I actually pay for those clicks you know?
2)Against adsense TOS
3) Once again ill enforce the fact it pisses me off because i have to pay for it

What i would do if it was me. Is increase the amount of ads that are shown (Hell i dont even notice the ones we have now). Increase the frequency between posts.

And switch from adsense to a different CPM media company.

What i would do if it was me. Is increase the amount of ads that are shown (Hell i dont even notice the ones we have now). Increase the frequency between posts.

Currently, Adsense's ToS allows up to 3 ads per page (compared to the old rule of 1 per page)

When browsing and posting, there is 2 ads: 1 on the top, 1 on the bottom. That there is perfect.

On the portal page, There is 1 on the top, one "skyscraper" on the left, and I believe one on the bottom.


And like you said, clicking ads that are irrelevant to what you are interested in WILL NOT earn SRL-Forums any money, all it will do is add a click count and bump the Page's Click Count. (which will lower eCPM on SRL-Forum's side and raising it's Page CTM)


In order for SRL-Forums to earn a profit without breaking Adsense's ToS, people need to click ads that interest them: runescape, games, consoles, etc; not "Free Victoria Secret Giftcards!!!" .


I own my personal website and pay almost $70 a year for about 500MB of space and 2GB bandwidth. It's not a lot, however, I have so many pages of projects, pictures, and more; that the website pays for itself. I have 2 ads per page: 1 on the side, 1 on the bottom. And take into account that only friends and family visit the website 99% of the time. Here, there are hundreds of people that come everyday.

This is great, I can start botting again. =)
