[QUICK ANSWERS]
SCAR - A program used to automate functions, such as the mouse and keyboard
SRL - A library of rules SCAR uses to automate functions
S.M.A.R.T. - A program that lets you automate functions and not take up your mouse or keyboard (FOR RS ONLY) [so you can still use your computer when you auto/macro.]
REFLECTION - An add-on to S.M.A.R.T.; it is tile based instead of color based like the the original SRL. Usually superb in walking functions!
SVN - A program that lets you update SRL in SCAR.

STEP 0: Bookmark this page for the time being, as you will need to return here in a few minutes, afterward you may delete it.

1) Get Scar. You can get SCAR Divi 3.15b HERE OR if you want, you can get SCAR Divi 3.2 Beta 9 HERE, but you have to register on Freddy1990's forums to get the BETA. (after you register, click the link for the BETA above, login, click the download and voila, BETA 9!!!)

If you want 3.15b but you don't know which link to click (the link is the picture!!!) slap yourself silly, and click the one on the left.. (just do it…)

Some scripts may require you to have your "Filewall" and/or your "Firewall" open (IN SCAR!!!). This allows the script to connect to the internet. The way to do this is to:

Open up SCAR, go to Tools>Options>Filewall>Allow All AND Tools>Options>Firewall>Allow All

This is usually used for things like SRL-Stats, but if you get a script that's not from SRL, or you don't trust, don't use it! It (unlikely but has been done before) could send you USERNAME and PASSWORD to some website and steal your account!

Rule of Thumb: If the script it made by anyone with a YELLOW or RED name (ON SRL!), it's probably (98%) safe!

2) Get SVN. You can get the Windows 32bit version HERE OR the 64bit version HERE.

Don't know which one you need? Click the 32 bit!!(chances are this is what you want)
Don't know which one you need and your running Vista? You probably want 64 bit!!!

After you download it, simply install it (you just have to press the "next" button like 5 times) and it will ask you to reboot. Do so, and then come back to this page (remember you bookmarked it?)

PS:if the installation didnt work, because of some error, try again AFTER restarting your pc AND having every other window closed. if it still doesnt work, then download the other version,
ie: you downloaded 32 bit for your 64bit Vista and install doesn't work, then download 64bit!!

3)Get SRL. To get the latest SRL, which is SRL 4 REV #31, open up SCAR, go to File>Download SRL (and do Download Includes too). When it's done look at the debug window (the bottom window of SCAR), and it should say that you have SRL 4 REV #31. If you don't think you have it (i wouldn't know because I have the BETA), then close SCAR, open it up again, go to Tools>Options>SRL Include>Checkout Latest Revision. If you're using 3.15b I believe a Command Prompt (black window) pops up and you begin downloading SRL.




PS: MAKE SURE YOUR FIREWALL (I USE KERIO SUNBELT:f: ) LETS SCAR CONNECT TO THE INTERNET!


4)Test if your S.M.A.R.T. is working properly.

Copy this script into SCAR, fill out 3 lines, and hit play (NOW DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING UNTIL IT IS DONE). It should work FLAWLESSLY. It will load S.M.A.R.T. , log you in, move the mouse twice, and log you out.

IF YOU GET "ACCESS VIOLATION" ERROR, ITS BECAUSE YOUR NOT AN ADMIN ON THE PC!
IF YOU HIT PLAY AND IT DOESN'T DO ANYTHING, AND YOU CAN CLICK IN IT,THEN MAKE SURE YOU PRESS THE "ENABLE S.M.A.R.T." BUTTON ,OTHERWISE JUST CLOSE SCAR AND REDO IT!

If you made it this far, and your S.M.A.R.T. is working fine, CONGRATS, but hang in there, a bit more you should know.

Now that you know S.M.A.R.T. works fine, you still need S.M.A.R.T. scripts. These are usually junior member scripts, so post post post (and not the "great job thanks!" - that doesn't help any one…much…even progies are better! .. just try*), and don't leech.

Assuming you have a S.M.A.R.T. script, and PS:

if you don't know how to tell if a script is or is not compatible with S.M.A.R.T., just hit CTRL+F in SCAR, and paste this: {.Include SRL\SRL\Misc\SMART.SCAR}
now see where it says "direction" , and "down" is selected, you want to select "UP", then press find. If you get nothing, it's not a S.M.A.R.T. script.

5)Fantastic! Now lets look at some scenarios:

A. You have a recently released S.M.A.R.T. script (and you know its a SMART script 'cuz i showed you how to find out). You fill everything out, and it says "successfully compiled."

Answer: Goood, skip the other scenarios and go to the next step.


B.You have a recently released S.M.A.R.T. script (and you know its a SMART script 'cuz i showed you how to find out). You fill everything out, and it says "some sort of error."

Answer:You probably didn't fill it out right, check everything, as it is usually user error. Still problems? Ask the Creator, it just might be something he forgot to do! After you did that skip the other scenarios and go to the next step.


C.You have an OLDER S.M.A.R.T. script (and you know its a SMART script 'cuz i showed you how to find out). You fill everything out, and it says "some sort of error."

Answer:This is probably because the Creator didn't update it to the new S.M.A.R.T. setup functions. This is how you do it:

Press Play on the script. It will take you to somewhere in the script, and it will even tell you the line number of that error! Now on that line, look for something close to this:

SmartSetup('world2', True, True, False);

AND something like this should be underneath or close to underneath it!

SetTargetDC(SmartGetDC);

Here is an example from an OLDER S.M.A.R.T. script that I'm actually using right now:

  Settargetdc(smartgetdc);
  AubTPA := CreateTPAFromText('isthin', UpChars);
  SetupSRL;
  SetupScript;

Ok what you want to do is select everything Starting with:

SmartSetup

and ending

SetTargetDC(SmartGetDC);

and replace with:

SMARTSetupEx(2, False, True, False);
  Wait(5000);
  SetTargetDC(SmartGetDC);
  repeat
    wait(100);
  until(SmartGetColor(253, 233)<>1118604);

got it? ok do it…now look below….it should look like this (look at how it changed):

SMARTSetupEx(2, False, True, False);
  Wait(5000);
  SetTargetDC(SmartGetDC);
  repeat
    wait(100);
  until(SmartGetColor(253, 233)<>1118604);
  AubTPA := CreateTPAFromText('isthin', UpChars);
  SetupSRL;

YAY you modified it now run and it should work!
Skip the other scenarios and go to the next step!


D.You have an OLDER S.M.A.R.T. script (and you know its a SMART script 'cuz i showed you how to find out). You fill everything out, and it says "some sort of error." You correctly mod the script according to the instructions above, but after that, you just get another error!

Answer: Dang all that work for nothing? Don't give up! it's probably something simple! Make sure you filled everything out right! remember, when it show you the error, it will take you to it!!! So see if you can figure out what it wants you to do.

Here is a common problem: The script is multi-player, but you only want to run it for 1 person. you set "number of users to 1" but it still gives you an error.

PS answer(lol): you have to put "{}" around the unused profiles; like so:

see them? makes all of the unused green!
NOT THIS BUT ANOTHER ERROR? you can try contacting the Creator or if you want, post it here in SCAR tags (remember to remove username and pass! before posting!) and I can take a look and see if I can help (no promises). There is always a chance the script uses old functions, in which case you can forget about it. Im not re-writing a script for you:duh: !


6)Your almost there!!!!

Make sure to see that the script is running as it is supposed to instead of just minimizing and walking away. Be sure to post proggies and errors on the Authors Thread so they can better their scripts. Also, when your not looking at it, minimize both SCAR and S.M.A.R.T. to waste less CPU, this will cause less lag and thus perfect the efficiency of your script! Remember, you may choose a world before starting the script, so if you care, do so! Enjoy.

7)HOW TO MAKE ANY SCRIPT A S.M.A.R.T. SCRIPT -in all essence, completely by IceFire908, I just copy + paste and modded (with Nava2's code) so it actually works lol.

a. Make sure you did everything above correctly.

b. Open your script.

c. Find this line (usually at the top of the script):

{.Include SRL\SRL.SCAR}

d. Change it to:

{.Include SRL\SRL\Misc\SMART.SCAR}
{.Include SRL\SRL.SCAR}

e. Hit CTRL+F.

f. Type in "SetUpSRL", and select "down" for the direction. (make sure you script is scrolled up to the beginning or it wont find it!!!

g. Change it to:

SMARTSetupEx(2, False, True, False);
  Wait(5000);
  SetTargetDC(SmartGetDC);
  repeat
    wait(100);
  until(SmartGetColor(253, 233)<>1118604);

h. File->Save.

i. Run script.


Ok, you should be done, if there is an error, check to see if you did it all correct, if you still don't know whats wrong, post it here in SCAR tags and i can take a look. (remember to remove username and pass before posting!)

If you're too lazy, no one will do it for you! Besides, there is a good chance that if your doing this, the author made a BETTER and more sophisticated version for the Junior-Members of SRL, so just contribute, and you're sure to enjoy the spoils.

EDIT:ADDED REFLECTION SECTION IN CASE YOU'RE INTERESTED~

8)Get Reflection. To do this you MUST have done every previous step in this TUT correctly (the install parts).This means you successfully obtained
-SCAR
-SVN
-SRL
-S.M.A.R.T.
!!!If so, then continue:

Okay, now open up the folder where you installed SCAR.
Oh god, don't tell me you don't know how or where…oh your hopeless….jk:D

Right click on you SCAR shortcut, whether it's in quick launch, start menu, or desktop. Now click properties. A window pops up. Click the button that says "Find Target." This will take you to SCAR folder. Now click the "Includes" folder.Then "SRL", and another folder names "SRL" in that one!
Now create a new folder, and name it "Reflection".
Right click on that folder, and click "SVN Checkout" (if you don't have this option, then you must have chosen custom setup during your SVN setup…fix it yourself genius…)

A window pops up. Where it says "URL of Repository" copy and paste this:

http://scarreflection.googlecode.com/svn/trunk

Now hit "ok" and your all set!!! get yourself some REFLECTION scripts and enjoy.

well yes, but i noticed somthing, you cant run tabbed scripts. which means you will need to open up a new scar window….. il add this info in the tutorial. and try to re-organize it.

Is there anything else i need to install because when i go to tools>options>srl download.. i dont have to choice to check subversion repository and i installed TortoiseSVN and reinstalled it and i dont get the checks on my folders anymore????

The test script aint working for me, it loads up smart and nothing more happens (i have rev #31 and smart 4.1), i put up something in the script to debug where its stuck, so i wrote writeln('1');, writeln('2'); after each line,

maybe because you restarted smart. did you ever try the posted script twice or restart and try? it says it could do that sometimes.

Awesome tut … but I have a problem
I am using XP Pro, ie6
I press run and the smart box comes up, I click on Enable Smart and runescape loads, then it clicks on the graphics menu option and the red dot moves around and then finally the script stops.
If I disable smart and exit the graphics menu manually and enable smart then the red dot goes into the username area and my username comes out in the script box but not in username box in runescape, then it goes to the password box and just sits there. It almost looks like smartsendkeys isn't working properly.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

there is no BEGIN at the starts of the script, if you copied and pasted the script into scar you must have left out "BEGIN" and "END".

You just need to move the plugins manually. There will be a folder called "place inside plugins folder". Take the files inside that folder and move them into your plugins folder in your SCAR map. Usually C:\Program Files\SCAR 3.15\Plugins

Did you download SRL to get reflection.scar?

Their is something wrong with your Login.scar, replace it with this.

Replaced it, but still gives me the same error.
Also, when I replaced it the file now has a red exclamation on it, instead of the green check mark.

I just installed it on my Mac with CrossOver, got everything via SVN. SRL compiles, everything SHOULD be working. Whenever I try and run a SMART script I get the violation error. I moved the plugins bla bla, done everything.

Any ideas?
