Welcome to the first Junior Member ONLY Competition! All JM are welcome to join, and i will be judging this competition. This competition has Wizzup?'s approval. :)

The rules are simple:

Rules

• You must work on your own
• However much you have completed must be handed in by the time limit. Even if you don't complete the script fully, you still have a (small) chance of winning
• You must use the SRL include
• You must make all of your own custom functions. You cannot take them from any other script even if you have permission. This means that the only procedures / functions you may use are the ones already in the SRL include, or ones that you make yourself
• No Reflection
• Once you have submitted a script, you cannot submit another one / edit your current one, so make sure you check it over thoroughly before submitting your entry

I may add / change the rules at any time, and i will warn you when i do. They won't be big changes though.

Extra Rules!
We have to make this competition fun now don't we? ;) So i decided to add a few extra rules to give some flavor to our scripts! I have wrote a list of various features that have to be included in your scripts!

• Selling in Rimmington General Shop
• Multiplayer
• Mining all 4 rocks (Tin, Copper, Iron, Gold)
• Possibility to use Pickaxe in Inventory or Equipped
• AntiRandoms
• AntiBan
• Progress Report

You will get 100 points for meeting all the requirements. 0 If you fail to meet even just one of them.

Script will be judged on:

• Technique
• Individuality
• Follow all SRL rules: i.e break out of potential infinite loops etc.
• Creativity
• Content
• Efficiency
• Presentation
• Meeting all Requirements (check: Extra Rules!)
• Added Extras

Prize
The prize will be SRL Members and the Competition Cup. Along with that also comes Respect and Reputation of the community.

Submitting your entry
Once you have finished your script, PM it to me so that others won't see your finished product until the end of the competition, and they can't steal your ideas! All scripts will then be posted up after the competition has ended.

Why should I enter?
Hopefully this will get you slightly motivated to create the best script you can, regardless of your standard. The more scripts you create the better you become: "Practice makes perfect". On top of that, when everyone has released their own versions of the script, you can compare yours to theirs and see what techniques they have used in their script: what works and what you can improve on. This will really help you improve your scripting skills.

In addition to comparing and contrasting with other scripts, i will also be commenting on each individual script, giving you tips on how it can be improved!

- If the you were a Junior Member at the start of the competition and then got accepted into members you are still entitled to win the Competition Cup and to have your script judged.

If the scripts are at "hello world" level obviously not. But i am sure there will be some serious contestants who would've got into member sooner or later anyway, so nothing to worry about ;)

Good Good, If i were a JM i would go for it. SRL Members as a prize, why not just give then 5k :p. Just Kidding, Good competition guys, definately worth entering.

after discussing the terms of the competition with Wizzup? and Markus, we reached the conclusion that it might be just a bit too hard for Junior Members. You will no longer have to bank in Falador as it was a very long walk, you will have to sell your ores at the Rimmington General Shop. For those who are very confident with their walking they could always add a banking extra, but beware, although you will get extra points for it, if it isn't a good walk you might lose some point due to technique or efficiency. Sorry if you had already started on your walk.

Nah, I don't feel like making a miner. I might've if it coincided with my current plans though (thiever and finishing my duel arena script).

also…some of the SRL Junior Members have only released one script even and may not be able to include multip layer 4 ores to choose from pick axe equipped or not (just a suggestion) and maybe make something more easier for these people (such as a Draynor Cutter + banker or edgeville yews or willows)

ive made 2 apps for SRL Mem's and both got denied so im gunna take a shot at this to kick all y0 asses so gl to all and thanks Rasta for PMing me this.

Eh, I kinda figured that. I was asking more for in-case I couldn't get my own version to work properly.

As ACA is mde by an srl admin as is widely used, i will allow. it has become part of srland herefore would not go against the rules.

complex? i got i down… that is the only thing i have done… now i have to make a general store walk procedure…

The walk to store would be alot easier than the walk to falador.

You can still include the falador walk for extra bonus marks, but it has to be flawless, otherwise you could loose more marks for putting something bad in then you would for not including it at all.

ok… well my walk procedure is pretty good. it uses ddtms then radial for failsafe then blind click…(should never get to blind click)

I would use ACA to get the max, min, etc… but don't use the function that prints out. Show the judges that you know how a autocoloring functions works.

No, just sell in Rimmy. Banking in Falador is optional, and not recommended unless you really, really know what you're doing.

Yes. We're allowed to use everything that is included in SRL.

After the competition is over, are we allowed to make a thread and all that junk for the script we made? Cause I kind of want to turn this into a longtime project after the competition.

of course you're allowed. after the competition i will judge all the scripts, comment on all the scripts and with the cmmenting and judging i'll also post a copy of the script (unless the author pms me telling eh doesnt want me to release it) but i intend to release them because it's a good source of learning.
But considering it's you're script you have the right to do whatever you want with it. if you look at previous competitions, most scripts were then release for the public with their own thread etc.

no reflection at all in the script for the contest. you can add it in afterwards for your own release :p

it should have the option to mine any of the four.

Extra options, like how many minutes before playerswitch etc etc, all that kind of stuff.

- If my script is the only one sent, will it still count as a competition? :S
- If i add something such as, let say banking, and the walking to bank does not work good, will it still give points? or will it make me lose points?

there will be more scripts, no need to worry about that;)

the walking to bank will add points to the "extra" part, but if it is poorly done it might take away points from "efficience" or "technique" for example, so be careful.

I'll judge these scripts, and once they're ready i'll give it about a week and we'll have another JM competition :D or so i hope.

Same here, i've never "had time" to make a full working script, i was just too lazy, but this competition made me make one. Now i have something for the members application if i lose!

This was my first real non-reflection script. It was fun figuring out how to do things without reflection :)

EDIT: I messed up one of my functions. :duh: It's not that big of a deal but if i'm allowed to change it the first two lines of my direction function should be
x := abs(x1 - x2);
y := abs(y1 - y2);

i think the next 1 should be a karamaja fisher it will be hard but still its good practise:) GL to every1 who entered!

i think i'l agree with a fisher.
a friend of my suggested to make a fisher, he sayd there wasn't a good shark fisher, so i think that we are going to make one. it would be nice if we can also combine it with a competition.

When results come out… can you start a new one right away, because I want a cup (I will finish next time!) and I am almost done with my members application script, so I don't want to wait forever to apply…*I really want to participate in this again*

I know this is a gravedig, sorry, but I was just wondering, did anyone win this? or did some people just waste their time? I use to check regularly for the results and then after a while I forgot about this thread and I just remembered about it and I checked thinking there'd definitely be a winner by now posted on the last post, but I Still don't see any winner. Did anyone get rewarded anything?

Don't worry it will be done. These competition for some odd reason take a while to judge and declare the winners. TBH let the Srl Member Community judge, would be quite fast and probably even more fair?

Maybe anyone with with useful voter badge or what ever its called can judge.

No offence but you dont even have a scripting cup.. i think someone should run/judge who has a Master Scripting Cup or is a Dev.
