Actually I am positive it would not be easy. He is the President, the Secret Service are all over the place everywhere he goes. I was watching the History Channel and they had a special thing on the President. It showed the Secret Service and "underlings" taking over an airport in Africa so Air Force One could land there, and the President ushered though. Security of the President is like huge. I doubt you could take a bobby-pin into the press room without the Secret Service knowing about it.

I was hoping the second one(that came inches) would hit him in the eye leaving him a shiner to remind him how popular he is.

I'm guessing that that was the secret service that came out of the side door, right? If it was then they suck at guarding him, it took them like 20 seconds after the first shoe was thrown to pop out.

It's a shame he didn't hit him but it was a fitting last visit from a President that will go down in history as probably the most useless leader ever.
