A few months ago, I had my main hacked. He was my first ever account, and he got to be really good. You can even look him up, his user name is griff721. (who woulda guessed?). Anyways, I got over it until just a few days ago. I thought, man this guy must be getting my stats up a bunch! SO I checked the highscored, nothing changed. I logged onto a different account, and I see griff721 logged in in arcanistes. HE'S FUCKING USING MY ACCOUNT TO PLAY FUNORB!!! Sigh, I just had to get that out. WHo hacks an amazing rs account, then plays funorb???

How do people actually go about hacking an account? Brute force? Or did you let your guard slip and somehow gave out enough info to let the "hacker" either recover, or guess your pass?

Thanks for the sympathy, and I got owned with a keylogger :(. I still don't know how he got it on me, I have a nice firewall. At least I could manage to get the keylogger off my comp.

Usually it's either that they brute-forced the password, they scammed it out of the person, or they keylogged the person's computer.

With griff, I'm betting on either they brute-forced the pass, or they got it via keylogger. Most likely the brute-force method, though.

I feel for you dude, I really do. My main has been "hacked" like 3 times. ALL because I'm an idiot. Each time I lost most my stuff, anything of value.

Someone bruted it (you had a shit pass on "an amazing account", way to go) or you got keylogged (downloaded some "free item dupez lol" program)..

Also, only people that care about RS hack RS accs and those are also the ones uploading the "stat h4x" programs, so if you got keylogged there isn't many other options than that you had some retardation moment and dled some fake RS hax.. If you would've got it from somewhere else the person wouldn't have cared enough to take your RS acc.. Either way it was pretty much your fault.

I actually virus/spyware/malware search/scan my computer like 5 times daily :P
I think that helps not getting keylogged :p
That the hacker uses the account to play FunOrb is sad, lol :)

That's just paranoid, and if the hacker knows what he's doing he can make the thing pretty undetectable (not even that hard with keyloggers afaik).. Just don't download crap.

@Riffe, phishing and password cracking are most likely the most popular ways.. Phishing is surprisingly effective too, many noobs fall for it when someone just spams a phishing link at some retard dwelling site (tip.it and so on). Also, surprisingly many people have weak passes too, even on good accounts (like first name or something).

i remember one i had this keylogger on my computer which i didn't know of. So one day i had about 1 million gc and i spent ages earning my first million and was very happy that i did. I then logged out becuase it was late. The next day i logged in and my 1 mill was gone, the password had not changed (this was when u could drop trade) and he was in the weapon store place so i walked to the bank and everything was there apart from my gold. I asked my brother and he said when i was walking down stairs my account logged back in. He didn't tell me that the day before. I spent a whole day getting 1k coal (not autoing i didnt know about macroing back then) then the next day it was gone! I downloaded some free anti-spyware and it detected something called PCagent keylogger (suprised i still remember that…) it was very bad that I lost my first million, then about 4 hours of work the next day

Well Buckley paid his XBox 360 and 8 games with selling accounts that he had cracked, shit passes exist…
