When i try scripting with smart, It is set to a free world, but says "This is not a members account, please enter as free user blah blah blah"

I have a good feeling theres a simple answer to this, so if anyone could tell me how to set up smart with a free account that would be great

Make sure the first boolean in your SmartSetupEx is set to false, for non members.
