Runescape is now in french!

Bonjour! We’re pleased to announce that we have just released the RuneScape game and website in its third language: French.

Whether you’re fluent in the language or just learning, you can give it a try by clicking on the French flag at the top-left of the website.

More languages are planned for RuneScape in the future, so keep an eye out for further updates.

Yay! I can finally play runescape while learning my french :). I've always wanted to master the language, but the classes suck tbh.

Well, yes it is getting big and since they improved pvp drops more and more people are playing. So i think it's a good thing!

I hope they do Spanish, then it might convince me to play a bit again to practice my Spanish :)

They can use Hanyu Pinyin, which is a romanization of Mandarin.

Personally, I think wikipedia is wrong. I'm sure there is way more than that amount of characters.

And trust me. Runescape with HanYuPinYin isn't good. I mean. Reading in HanYuPinYin instead of chinese is. Well. Saying beer is like vodka

I think the next language will be Spanish. If i were them, then i'd go straight down the list of the most widely spoken languages.

or they could go by the most internet connected countries and swedish in there, but it still keeps a lot of contenders.

So, if they don't want to do a completely different alphabet, it should go like this -

1) English
2) Spanish
3) Portuguese
4) Malay (Never heard of it >_<)
5) French
6) German
7) Vietnamese
8) Turkish
9) Italian
10) Polish

Assuming only Latin script has the same characters as English, French, and German.

Of course, Jagex decided to go out of order - 1 -> 6 -> 5….

Actually, they might not be just randomly picking. It doesn't matter how many people speak a language, but rather how many people who speak a language would be willing to get a membership.

cause mostly people i seen are USA/Austrlia/UK.

in German worlds like only 300-500 ppl play or something like need to check again lol

well, it's already guarantied, it's going to be portugese/brazilian, so why ask? How about make a thread about which language will it be after prortugese. BTW, even JaGeX already made spoke about it and in wikipedia, this is a specific line that i saw.

" Jagex are also hiring translators for a Brazilian Portuguese version of RuneScape."
