take a look under "free for all scripts" on main page. then look at zunoto's thread in this "srl site discusion" forum. what is wrong with your ppl? you couldn't be any more rude!! what hippocrites you are. you call us leeches? well, guess what? your leeches too. at one point you dodn't know jack either!. all of you "higher members" learned most of what you know from someone else. and these people that you insult so easily might learn something. they might become one of the better scripters out there. who would want to come back here and ask for help or post something when you dump on them like that? no matter where you learned it from, someone else was there before you. and most probably someone helped you along the way. this site states that its doing nothing wrong because it views finding ways around the rules as a challenge. Anyway, we just don't want anyone registering at SRL and spamming 10 posts just to download some Junior Member scripts.

All we are asking is that people learn to help themselves and overally increase the community. We strive to help everyone we can, but in order to do so, we can't help with the easy questions that can be answered by a 3-5 second search of the site. We want you to learn to help yourself so we can help more and more people.

The 10 messages for Jr mems is in place to stop people from never contributing. In the rules it says these posts must be useful posts. Follow our rules, spam is not useful and will not be tolerated.

Zunoto was the biggest waste-of-time-spammer.

In an hour, he posted the same thread 3 times (re-worded), and posted open ended useless errors. (eg. "Im getting an error in scar, how do i fix it?")

He was leeching, just trying to get access of Junior Member Scripts

we want ppl to learn how to script, not leech.

Well first of all, have you noticed that the "higher members" actually know how to code and release scripts? We all started from somewhere, yes but we all didn't have to spam. If you don't like our rules then you can leave, nobody is forcing you to stay ;)

I make that part big, because actually the first SRL scripters only had the pascal language to base it off of, so they didn't know jack at first and freddy1990's SCAR was used to create SRL… witch is almost its own thing… Basically the original scripters based what was first created off of the knowledge they got from using the search button, at the top right hand side of your screen, before SRL was made… (as far as i know this is true)

They are not saying to not ask questions, simply asking that before asking a question spend a minute or two using the search button, then if you don't find an answer post a new thread.

firstly learn something from Free for all scripts, then try make script by your self.. just downloading script isn't learning dude.. Read, read, read.. then you can say what something bad whit how you say

He has a pretty valid point there. Even though he has not capitalized, no paragraphs, and generally hurts the eyes to read it. He has a point there. I don't think we should act this way to a registered member.

Remember, we were all registered members. And I, for one, was a leecher too.

Remember. Even though we might be Srl-Members, we are not above the rules. We do not start flame wars.

Do the math before you complain about people being annoyed with "leechers".

In the VAST majority of cases, that description is accurate. And for those that aren't "just leechers", it's usually apparent from their behavior and posts.

There's no need to flame, but spamming up the forums is annoying to me and the mod team that has to clean up the mess daily.

i have absolutely nothing against leechers, and as for us trying to start a flame war would it have happened if this guy (who i do have a problem with) hadn't posted a thread trying to flame "higher members" and unless i am incorrect he is talking about the staff and people who have taken part in the community. And as for us thinking we are above the rules, some do but others just wish to prove their point, also as far as this goes this guy hs just made a stereotype correct?

If you don't want to contribute then you should leave. That being said…

You don't have to learn how to program to contribute. You could test peoples' scripts. You could come up with ideas on how to script…

This place is about helping people, but we expect that a person that is helped will pay it forward.

Many people learn how to script from nothing. Some don't get it but at least they try to be part of the community. What you are saying is that you want to sit back and do nothing and let others do something for you. That is the definition of leecher. This site is also a little about learning to do things for you self. Become independent. It is much more fun and rewarding than following in the footsteps of countless others and never learning anything. We want you to walk away from this having learned something.

Well, you got the leeching in which you got permission to do so (i.e. the scripting engine SCAR uses, the pascal language he talks about), and the leeching which we don't like, like the using of our hard work without any feedback.

the reason for this is to not have people come in, download the scripts and leave. You want the scripts? we want some contribution. I don't think it's too much to ask for ;)

I really don't understand why this guy is so angry about people being called leechers. :S I myself consider myself a "leecher" since I can't/don't find the time to learn how to script.
I do try to contribute by ideas/thoughts, but as for me, I'm not very into computer programing, when I open up a script, I don't understand anything. But I've done my part in contributing as far as my abilities go, and I'm thankfull for being a SRL Junior Member.

For all the scripters/members that help others, just want to say thanks, without you guys, this community would be dead.

@ joeybaltimore, Drop it man, either you accept that leechers are looked down upon here, or you move on to another scripting site. Atleast be thankfull for the ones that try to help us "leechers/noobs"

To me this site is about educating, not about helping other people who don't want to learn get their RuneScape GP's. My goal has always been to help people learn.
Furthermore, to stimulate them from the start, I have created some scripts that show the power of cheating.
A leecher is a commonly used word on online forums and communities. It isn't such an offensive term at all.
I agree that the posts to the other member weren't too nice. But then again, he asked the questions that have been asked 100 times.

In real life, you need to work to get something done.
On SRL, it is no different. We have made it easier by providing lots of tutorials, and there's also an IRC in which you can easily find some help.
SCAR even has an Download SRL + Move Plugins options, so basically all you have to do is click on 'Update'. It can't be made more simple.
There's also a Search button at the top of the SRL site, which will get you to literally every tutorial you will need, on every subject you can think off.
A leecher is someone who doesn't want to learn, read and generally do anything to achieve his goal. He just wants everybody else to do it for. That's where a lurker differs from a leecher.
Your point about the Pascal languages makes no sense.

EDIT: About your teacher remark, that's what books are for. In this case, tutorials.

Joeybaltimore, we don't call people leechers who aren't ones. Starting scripting doesn't mean that you have to go around downloading scripts without even saying thank you, or as leechers usually do, just post "thx" or "nice", which isn't any better. This is a free community, and a two way one. People who don't script post feedback or contribute to the community in some other way. We don't call new people leechers, we call people who leech, leechers.

Also, do you think that coming here, making a huge post without no clear backed up arguments in a bad grammar, makes some kind of a statement? We don't care how emotional you get behind the screen, although we can see it from your typing…

If you thought that we would somehow change the way our community works, to benefit the people who don't help it at all, you were wrong.

I didn't read much of the first page, but the people you called leechers and as you said, got furious, most likely were new people (as in less than 6 months), that have just finished pushing themselves to get the basics down and even possibly become an SRL Member. People who get called leechers with, and know that they aren't ones or weren't ones just some time ago, don't care about it. Also proves your theory against yourself, although you getting angry about being called a leecher might have something to do with being so new.

The conclusion is that people who cannot script aren't necessarily leechers. The term leecher in the internet is the exact same as in real life.


Just so you know, most programming related forums work the same way. Some forums might not care about leechers as much because that type of forums' bots are often open source, RSBot for example, and their creators made them open source for the purpose of learning something. They know that the people who can learn from it, will.


Oglokes, leechers aren't looked up to anywhere. New people aren't leechers, - Necessarily.

No, it's not a derogatory term, you just think it is. Why do we get mad at leechers? Well first of all, we put many countless hours of writing and testing our scripts and post it for yall to enjoy. We know we did the best we could on that script and all we ask for is a little recognition or feedback on it. Just seeing multiple posts of "nice", "thnx" isn't what we are looking for. We want people to post feedback and say how it worked or what was wrong with it. Is that so much to ask for?

Then GTFO! No one is forcing you to stay here, it's your choice to come/stay. I will probably be the first to admit it but when I first came here all I wanted was scripts for RS. I started off at Sythe and that is a horrible place to be, I figured that this place would be the same. I was DEAD wrong, this community is so much better than anywhere else. It's hard not to be a active member in such a great learning environment. I came here to leech, now look at me. 600 posts later and I have released two scripts and HOPEFULLY will become a SRL Member. It's not that hard, just apply yourself ;) And now I'll be releasing a pretty nifty function soon.

How old do you think most of us here are? I know I'm pretty old to be here but I enjoy scripting. I have only been here for about a month and a half and I know how to program scar from the basics. There is still ALOT that I have to learn but I took the time needed to learn it.

Well it's pretty hard not to get upset when I have busting my a** to learn how to script and making a script run flawless. Calling someone who has been learning and actively helping a leecher is a pretty low thing to do IMO. As for your spam theory, its wrong. Spam doesn't have to happen because it's a website. It happens when people don't take the time nor the initiative to read and follow the rules.

I hope your not taking this thread into account when you say you post helpfully. You're right, they have a right just to sit and watch but they DON'T have the right to complain that a script isn't working for them when they don't want to fix it themselves. This IS a helpful learning environment, but what it looks like to me is that you're complaining. I, for one, wasn't angry till you called us leechers also.

As for that, you're not very smart for posting that. First of all, that would never happen. Secondly, it just shows how unaware how much we try to help here. Thirdly, we only say that when people post threads and replies asking what we have already answered 1000 times. I agree with Markus and Wizzup? 100% on this.

did i hit a nerve or what? how many times i gotta say it? this isn't about me. i could care less about being a "jr member" or it's scripts. i have tested script, given feedback, and posted a helpful suggestion for others. like someone said, "you have to bust your a** for 2 months to learn how to script", most people don't have the time or care enough about it to learn all of it so they can cheat on a game!!

a leech is a blood-sucking worm. of course it's derogatory. and if you don't mind being called that, your have no self-respect whatsoever. try kissing their ass some more. if someone called me a blood-sucking worm on the street, it would be on. but they throw it around because they're safe on their computer.

is this site free or not? if it is, it should be fine for people to just look. don't want leechers? afraid you won't get a thank you? don't post your scripts for all to use. why don't you make it so only people who have written a succesful script can download other scripts? you know why? because this site would die. the majority of the population knows nothing about pascal language or writing scripts. but you need us to come donate, and visit ad sites.

I don't think I would consider being called a "leech" a derogatory term. They belong to the Annelid Phylum, which brought about segmentation. Also, I believe this class had the first coelomates arise. So by calling someone a leech you are telling them that they are a necessary stepping stone upon which evolution derived many other more complex species.

Thats the reason why we have "free for all scripts" and then if you have 10 posts, and not considered just a "looker" then your allowed to use the better scripts. The problem is, alot of these "lookers" want to get to the nice scripts, so they post things like "cool" and "neat" on threads for scripts that dont even work, and expect to get better scripts.

And seriously dude, if you want respect you have to earn it. When you first get a job, its not like they promote you to manager or something with high ranking, you have to earn your way up. asking stupid questions/starting arguments/calling people out isnt going to help you out a whole lot.

This site is totally free, you are not charged with anything. There are lots of free tutorials, as well as some scripts. If you like this site, you'll have to advance to get access to all scripts. All the Communities and Fora have their layers, and so has SRL. Like I've stated before, you don't come here, demanding you get all. If people work hard on something and don't want everyone to just leech their scripts, then it is no more than reasonable that the user of the script at least returns something, may that be in the way of also making a script, posting feedback, or just generally approving the hard work of the scripter.
The current way the site is set up doesn't really seem to work all that bad.

Yes it is a free site, and yes looking is fine. But taking someones hard worked script and just saying "thnx" is leeching buddy. That's what we don't want.

I think you misunderstand the meaning of leecher (as it stands on this forum). According to us, a leecher is one how just takes something and leaves, without doing anything else. If you post proggies, give feedback, report bugs, etc, nobody will call you a leecher (hopefully…). Some people expect you to learn, but, obviously, not everyone has time in their life to take up the immense hobby of programming. If you're one of those people, that's OK, just say 'Thank you' and provide feedback to the programmers, and anyone that blames you for having a life outside of the computer should…. I'll stop there :rolleyes:

ummm, first thing yes I do own a horse farm/ranch. I play after it gets dark if its any of your buisness. Second thing I'm not a leecher considering I didn't download anything. Third that Joey guy was right, I thought people would try to say how to do things easily, but no quick to put someone down and call them a lier, and you people think you own the world and anyone that is not a pc pro then they are beneath you. I played RS for about an hour before someone said something hateful to me from this site. I have a web site for my ranch for many people to visit and where I sell my horses from as well as 150 acres to raise 40+ horses on. I have a life and money, what do you have a pc and a run down shack. Don't be so quick to judge people. It takes all kinds of people to run the world. People that buy my horses range from doctors and lawyers, down to regular people. I do alot of hard laborious jobs so no I dont know about script, but I'm sure you dont know how to breed, feed, and doctor a sick horse. I'm just sayin that you peole should not be so hateful because one day you might need those people that you are puttin down to fix ur car or something. You never know who you are talking to on the internet. I'm goin back to play RS the honest way so that at least I know my accomplishments are my own and not yours. Thnx for that. Yes, the IRC is very helpful plus usually the higher up people are there and it's faster easier help than posting. But if you can't get the download IRC working (Like me) you can use the internet one here: http://www.hy71194.mgatesphoto.com/srlchat/ It still connects to the main channel so you still get help. That is what I use :)

Chances are searching for your error or problem will yield constructive results within minutes. You do not sit and wait days to find your problem. There are search engines, this is not a old unorganized archive. When someone asks why the script they downloaded does not work when it is a error like "SRL include missing" it would have taken them 10 seconds to go to the top of the thread, click "search thread" and type in 3 or 4 relevant words into there. Then another couple seconds later (depending on the traffic of the site your internet connection) you will be brought to a page with results.

I say search the thread because ten to one someone has probably had the same common problem as you and already posted it in that thread. However a search through the entire forums would yield more results.

No one here is wasting their time refreshing the page every 10 seconds to reply to posts. So chances are searching will actually save your time, and ours. Everyone who scripts here and programs do it because it is their hobby. They do not get paid, the least people could do is make their life's more enjoyable by saving everyone's time and searching for their answers. Just like how you do not want to sit and "search for days and days" also means we do not want to sit and explain the same thing for " days and days". Going into Tutorial Island and taking a gander at the thread titles will give you a idea of how easy it actually is to find most of your answers.

If nobody had posted on this thread except for the original poster, I would have completely disagreed with him. Now, I realize that what he's saying is completely true. He stated a completely valid point, and many of you just flamed him. Don't be dicks just because he's saying that you're doing something wrong and unfair. SRL is an open community for leecher and people who actually are willing to contribute. Leecher just won't get as much as the ones who contribute. That is no different in real life, although you probably wouldn't get anything at all - if this was real life.

With only 10 posts (which are nearly always spam anyway), and being registered on this forum for 7 days, you get access to nearly all the scripts, I find it laughable if anyone states we aren't leecher friendly.

Like I have stated, some members made offensive posts, but then again, the leecher didn't even bother to search, which is literally stated nearly everywhere. I'm going to say those posts were good - not at all, but I know that if you joined these forums, you would not have made a post anywhere near like the post that the leecher made.

I think you misunderstand the meaning of leecher (as it stands on this forum). According to us, a leecher is one how just takes something and leaves, without doing anything else. If you post proggies, give feedback, report bugs, etc, nobody will call you a leecher (hopefully…). Some people expect you to learn, but, obviously, not everyone has time in their life to take up the immense hobby of programming. If you're one of those people, that's OK, just say 'Thank you' and provide feedback to the programmers, and anyone that blames you for having a life outside of the computer should…. I'll stop there :rolleyes:

If nothing else, this thread is an interesting study in herd psychology.

I could probably go register on any forum on the entire internet as a 1 post newbie and post something similar to this about how the mods/admins "control the world", and it would either get immediately deleted, or it would lead to a thread like this.

If it was a respected member of the community, it might be a productive thread. When it's a newbie that knows almost nothing about the forums and how they work, it's pointless.

This is a GREAT community. It's a FRIENDLY community. If a 1 post newbie comes here and doesn't see that, that's their problem, not ours. People here with hundreds or thousands of posts started out as 1 post newbies at one time, so we've ALL been there. About 43,000 others registered but never bothered to stick around. joeybaltimore thinks he is somehow "special" because he saw SRL for the horrible, hateful place he thinks it is, and he's going to go play somewhere else. That's not being "special", that's being ignorant and following the other 40,000+ people that came here, never bothered to participate for whatever reason, and left. His loss, not ours.

If people want to keep stroking this guy's ego and making him think he's really as "special" as he thinks he is, keep posting here. I'm sure that's his only goal at this point. But he isn't special, and he has no idea how this community really is, so it's pointless as far as I'm concerned.

leechers are the downfall of most script forums…if your gona join then at least make some valuable contributions!…only my opinion…and yes im still known as a "leecher"…

First off, This is a site about mature cheating discussion and programming not "OMGZ I NEEDZ THE LATEST SCRIPTERZ!" We don't HAVE to give you anything, nor do we have to release any script that we make. Why do we release scripts? Because its fun to program and we like to be recognized for our abilities.

This isn't a site about getting the latest runescape cheating methods, its about teaching others to learn how to cheat at runescape (or other MMORGs for that matter) on their own.

By leachers, we mean people that take and take without ever giving something back to the community. When we say someone is a leacher, we mean that they have no intention on learning how to script, they just want to make a gain without doing any work for themselves.

Grow up, stop being offended when nobody meant to offend you. And for pete sake, just because someone says a mean thing to you on the internet, doesn't mean that you have to explode. This is the internet, people will be people. If you don't have a hard skin for that kind of stuff I suggest you get out now while you still can.

not to offend you or anything but, but at least TRY to learn SRL and basic coding first.

there is a reason why higher members own this board and its because they earned the right to be there through hard work.

I can only assume that someone has belittled and provoked you to be this angry at the SRL members and that is not the conduct that most Members follow. However, it doesnt give you the right to lash out at others.

I have something to say here:

If you don't want to make scripts, fine. Don't. At least post progress reports ect. Something that can help.

Also, if you do make a script, many first scripts I actually use, because they are new members with fresh ideas for scripts, that are useful and I hadn't thought about. Don't think that you are worthless in our eyes. You really need to open your eyes and see that we aren't the enemy. Why do we write all of the tutorials? So you guys learn, and make the next generation of great scripters as many are leaving (growing up, school, personal life etc.)

The new people are the gateway to a new generation of scripters, and flaming isn't helping.

This system promotes self instruction in SCAR and the ability and neccisity of helping the forum community. It is a wonderful forum community and system that is unlike anything I have seen. cheers to SRL. :-)
