Scriptable Quests

Since Masquerader has SCAR-red the talking NPC font, the next obvious thing to do is to make Quest scripts.

Which f2p quest would you classify as "simple" in terms of scripting?
Take into account the following:
- Not too much walking.
- Not to many doors to open.
- Preferably a "cycle" script (startpoint = endpoint)
- Lots of talking is no problem :)

I am asking you this because I never play quests. If you know a simple quest, reply and -if you can- please describe the quest for me in terms of scripting.

TIA

Well i think rune mysteries would be a good one (because of its usability (sp?) ) but i dont know how hard it is to script for…I've only ever seen it done with aryan through…

Danksta: Yes I know, but feedback is always appreciated, no?

BamBam: Are you out of your mind? Rune Mysteries Quest? That is far to hard to script. I have after a long night managed to almost get me 100% to sedridor at the basement of the wizard-tower before I eventually gave up. Possible, yes but way to many uncertainties.:)

My thoughts: any quest that is going to be easy enough to script won't be worth scripting ;) and I don't think there are any quests that don't take a lot of walking ;)

Yeh.

I think that we should leave quest scripting. Chances are the Script will stuff up alot.

Have you considered making quest asistance scripts? What I mean is dont make it bomb proof, but take the drearyness of it away and have it <beep> if it needs human input. This would allow you to do other things ie: homework or whatever, and only have to help minorly… Since quests are one offs, this would suit me just fine as a means to run my noob army through a quest.

kk what about something along the lines of splitting a quest up into parts. some cant be scripted of course, but some walking / npc talking could be

All quests can be scripted. Just some will be more challanging/longer than others.

I have to agree with un-named all quest can be scripted. scar 2.03 is made to be addaptable to just about anything. so the extent of what can be done is on really limited by the script writers.

Yes, they can be. But with great difficulty and time depending on which quest.

And if they're never going to be used, it's not worth it.

well we can still dream, personally, i wouldnt put my trust in a program that sometimes messes up because it walked too far or a color is different. and i doubt anyone with full rune and all the quest items in his inv would either. the only useful quest would be rune mysterious, but i guess that one would take a while

mmmm i think what that other guy was getting at about parts was maybe rune mysterys walking. Its just the huge walkign thats boring. So you could set it to walk from wizard tower to varrock. Then go make a ssandwich then come back and do it then set it to revers and go again

Yea i was just playin :P Feedback is always appreciated :) but anyways i think quest scripts are good for antiban strageys (sp!) All my Auto'd Army do quests just to make them look more like noobs then Bots just a theory thou.

The walking procedures aren't the problem, doors and other stuff are.

well im kinda happy to say that doors will not be a problem after the release of my next script, ive started to create an "auto" rune mysteries quester and so far ended up making a bunch of new functions for door unlocking, staires climbing ect ect.

currently the script will speak with the duke and get the quest, then it will check if the door is either open or closed, with what i think to be a flawless bitmap (needs more testing). After that the script will locate the staires on the left hand side and click, this leads on to climbing down the staires and off towards the waizards tower….

well thats kinda my report for today and i may update it soon.

well in theory any quest that does not rely on other players is scriptable because wre can prodict whats going to happen
