Okay, a little tool I found:

Step 1. Go to Task Manager, check FireFox' memory usage.
Step 2. Go to http://firefox-ultimate-optimizer.en.softonic.com/download
Step 3. Download and install
Step 4. Go to Task Manager, check FireFox' new memory usage.
Step 5. Happy? Go to tray, click right on the icon, and select "Start with Windows". After that, say thanks :)

Hugolord I doubt it would make a whole lot of difference.
When firefox uses a lot of memory because of runescape I would bet most of it is from Java being a pig, and not much is going to change that…

edit: I could be very wrong too…

Yeah dunno if I'll install this, my FF is really fucked up atm I'm running on safe-mode cz on normal mode it just crashes every 3 or so pages i open -,-

This was posted in the RSbot Usefull/free Apps section, it helps but when you play Runescape look @ java.exe and it's still high.

How does it work? And I do not want ANOTHER app sitting by my clock; make it into a FF addon :p

Very naice looking though, great success.

HOLY SHITE! FIREFOX WAS AT 60,000K and now it's at 2,000K!!!

I can confirm it works on Vista as-well! No crashing!

Lol, this just changes the amount of memory that shows up at the task manager, not the actual amount.

Howcome my computer appears to be much faster then?

Why would it even be faster if you're using less RAM? It's there to be used.

It makes me feel like its going faster :P

Hehe not that kind of VM dude… VM as in Virtual Memory, aka storing things that should be in RAM on your hard drive. Basically allows you to run more programs than will fit in your RAM (helpful for those without much RAM), but it ultimately slows down firefox. (instead of fetching data from RAM, it has to read it from your hard drive)

And your HD is many times slower than your RAM.

Are you sure this stores it in the page file? From the looks of MSDN and some other googled stuff it looks like it actually frees up some unused memory.

VM <> Virtual Machine in this case, I'd go for virtual Memory => page file
This is a crapload of bs, it doesn't reduce at all, lmfao

As proven before already.. Bullhonkey (:p)… But I guess the creator gets some pleasure or profit from fooling tons of people into thinking their firefox will take less memory x)
