Today I will teach you how to unlock ( .rar ) files!



First go to http://www.rarlab.com/ .


And now press on….




…Downloads.

Then press on what language you want on the WinRAR.

After doing that you will need to press on the first one.





After downloading WinRAR right click on the ( .rar ) file you want to unlock.



Right Click>Extract All Files.

Find someone on srl forums who can't open or extract a rar file.
He/she only has 1 requiement they have to be over the age of 8
(when you start primary school)
any way if u think this is untrue the do the challange…

This doesn't tell me how to unlock them…only how to extract them.

You would have to run a brute force cracker on it and leave it running untill it eventually finds the password.

Please stop making obviously useless threads. People know how to extract .RAR files. For God's sake, Windows TELLS you what program to download.

U jus taught me to open rar files not unlock them,I was hoping for some kind of password cracking thing for locked rar files…

Ya, I'm pretty sure my comp downloaded WinRar for me when I tried to open one… and my other comp already had extraction software… so congrats on a useless thread…

Lol, ya, but considering how long that would take (without an industrial(or NSA) brute and assuming the password is decent), I certainly hope you don't want that file any time soon :D

Nice guide for noob,there is many programs too,winzip is one good too.

Riffe, you should know this stuff before you know how to sign up for Runescape. Please do not use misleading titles. This guide might be good for people who are using a computer for the first time and don't know how to Google. To sign up for SRL you need an email address and knowledge of making an email address is far superior of installing a single program.

Sometimes its harder to turn on a computer than this…

(No really, when I bought my laptop I spent 3 hours trying to turn it on. After the 2nd hour I realized there was no battery inside. After the 3rd hour I realized the power switch was placed misleadingly in between the pause button and stop button. (Windows XP media edition))

I agree. The flaming is getting old, but if they don't know what a .rar is do you think that they are capable of finding this thread? Would they be able to find it even if it was a sticky?

Note on the tutorial: If you are going to make something really simple like this you should try to make it extremely detailed. If they don't know how to extract a .rar then they are probably pretty computer illiterate and will need things dumbed down a lot… Just a suggestion.

I first thought the topic was about unlocking (.rar) files encrypted with a password.

You accuse him of posting unhelpfully? Your reply provides nothing but childish criticism. Whether or not the thread is helpful is immaterial, we don't need you to tell us (if you feel so passionately about it try PMing an admin or mod so they can deal with it properly).

Why do all people use win rar??? I use and strongly recomend 7zip. http://www.7-zip.org/

Good point actually. I use rarzilla personally, just double click the .rar and it unrar's it… no mucking around with unnecessary dialogues.

winrar,winzip or 7zip….

I'd recomend using 7-Zip it is free and open source

But cracked winRar will do ;)

why crack freeware?

winzip/winrar free trial has been installed on several computers over numerous years, and i've never had to download any sketchy cracked versions, some things just don't need cracked, pirates just see CRACK and get a boner

I was expecting how to be told how to like crack an RAR files password protection… But this is juts useless..

I throught their was a new cracking program out. Guess not. Ill keep using ARARPR for now:/
