Color or Colour?

What would you prefer?
Colour is the original "British" way to spell it. (And is right now giving me a misspelled word underline)
Color is the "Americanized" version.

Color is the "Americanized" version.
You are probably using a weird Spelling Corrector.
American is generally just English with some differences (flaws) in spelling.
This poll is useless, because all Americans will vote Color, while everyone who really knows English will vote Colour.

Not useless! It'll also tell us who is Europe then eh? But you see maybe some Americans prefer the original spelling or some Europeans like to spell it shorter because its faster? Never know :p

I'm American and I voted Colour. Then again I do disagree with most of the stuff happening in America. I like the Old/Not Americanized version because is makes you think about the correct pronunciation.
Also my Firefox spell checker shows that colour should be color. So it might not be a weird spell checker.

I am from Australia being brought up in America. My parent use the english/aussie way, so I do. It also make sence that it should be spelled like colour, by just how it sounds.

:P When I went to England, I heard more grammatical errors per-conversation then I do in America. To say that the British "know" English is laughable at best.
"Im not think mathew me."
"That's well good that."
"'ye all right mate?"
"I gots me own tee me."
Just a small sample of regular sentences uttered by the average person in Brittan.
They are two different standards of spelling, neither if phonetically correct so either is syntactically correct (as long as you don't mix and match).

Well, there is a big difference between the actual pronouncing of the words, and how they write them.
Yeah, the more regular conversations that you would have with your family or friends differ from the conversations you would have with your boss at work, or teacher.
I'm pretty sure you also have that in America, we also have that in the Netherlands… :p

haha I like that, culler.
and I do same, when I read colour, it makes me think the second syllable is supposed to sound like "or" when i pronounce it "er". btw, I'm American, so I was born with it being color, so that's the way I'm used to and the way I write it.
I remember when I used to see colour I thought it was spelt wrong a long time ago haha.

I use both, based on my mood, and whom I am talking to.
Colour is easier for me to type to be honest, and I usually use it on MSN, etc.

Not everything. But a few things.
Example: Rugby -> Football
I spell like colour, neighbour, favour, but don't pronounce the U like brits do.
Also, defence > "defense".

Well, since I have grown up with it, and that is best for my own use of the word "color",( simpler, im used to it, Americanized). I am happy to use "color" as my stated and used word. But, it really doesnt matter. :-)
I dont think you should be angry at everyone in America for changing to word. I didnt make it up, just grew up in it. Blame American scientists or American English professors. xD. Idk who threw the "U" out of "Colour". Research time? :-0
"Color" :-)
