Erm i have never seen a Portble hard driver over 2 tb, and if there was one for 10 tb it would be heaps more.

Think he meant to type only 1 TB. Seeing as how I doubt they even created 3+ TB hard drives.

I hope you weren't stupid enough to not back up the data that was on the external drive. All hard drives WILL break, eventually.

Seriously… What would be the point of backing up backed up data? Completely defeats the purpose of the first ext HDD..
& That really sucks YoHoJo, I've got a 500GB external hd here at the edge of my desk/table here and should probably move it.. my desk is really cluttered though (tons of CD's, dvds, broken XBOX 360..:().

so if one HDD breaks you can buy a new one and back it up again with the spare one..?

Can you rephrase that? Which HDD (the external or internal on your pc?) & back up which? Confused me a bit..

thats not very nice, who's to say that that wasnt his back upper for his computer hard drive? Then, by your logic he'd need an infinite number of hard drives to back up the other!

DVDs can start to deteriorate after 3 years (except for archival discs, but those are crazy expensive, and still not forever). Plus peple can steal/smash them just like an external drive. No backup is 100% safe. The only solution is multiple backups, to get closer and closer to 100%, but never quite there.
