Is it possible to have SCAR SMS Message a progress report to your phone?

How about this: Is it possible to have SCAR send some sort of variable to a website to where it is displayed on that website?

Discuss plz. I needs answ0rz.

Hmm, i could make this for you! :p

I beleive PHP has a SMS function, and the php would have to limit the sending (to prevent from sms bombs)

Overall I like the idea.

Ok Timer. You make it, and I'll make the headers for your site :)

But, the PHP has to be accessible from SCAR, and it must change the variables on the site to be viewable by the public.

PHP doesn't have SMS functions, but it does have emailing capabilities. At least in Canada, most (if not all) carriers will allow you to send free texts from their website to any phone on their network - a few found with easy googling:
http://www.telusmobility.com/sendamessage/sendamessage.shtml
http://websms.rogers.page.ca/sendpcs/english/
http://www.txt.bell.ca/bell/en/

This works for Telus (my carrier), however getting the right URL & field names from the page is trivial.

program New;
var
h : integer;
res : string;
begin
h := InitializeHTTPClient(true,true);
res := PostHTTPPage(h, 'http://msg.telus.com/msg/HTTPPostExtMgr', 'CODE=416&NUM=8026415&MESSAGE=testing,testing,123&Send=SEND');
writeln(res);
end.

EDIT - missed the second part…

Could be done easily with .txt file storage, I can do it if you're interested. :)
You might want to put in an auth system, however, so that random people don't spam it :)

Agent83, it'd be cool if you could do that for me :)

When could you have it done?

EDIT: The variable would need to be the progress report…

Pretty simple & quick, I can fix it tomorrow if necessary. Set the password (if you want) in save.php, line 6.

Example SCAR usage - note that it requires two params - 'a', the password, and 's', the data you want to store.

program New;
var
h : integer;
res, report : string;
begin
h := InitializeHTTPClient(true,true);
report := 'This could be a proggy, with special characters... []&';
AddPostVariable(h, 's', report);
AddPostVariable(h, 'a', 'password');
res := PostHTTPPageEx(h, 'http://stephenphp.freehostia.com/reporter/save.php');
writeln(res);
end.
If you happen to run this example as is, you can see the results here (plus a few test runs):
http://stephenphp.freehostia.com/reporter/save.php

Enjoy.

Wow, this would be a great idea. Just like that guy that got famous efor botting on EverQuest. He nearly got cought by an mod on that game, and his bot was rigged to SMS him the questions that mod was asking. He didn't get banned!

I was researching on doing this a couple months ago, I eventually gave up on the idea since there is no "Free" way to send SMS over the internet.

Jason2gs and I were talking about doing this a couple of months ago. As long as you have unlimited texting it is free to do this. With most carriers if you text an email address it will go through. And the email address that the email is from is specific to the phone you sent it from.

So basically for setting up the texting part you would just have to setup emailing.

Jason2gs made an SMS plugin. Basically what Mr.Klean posted above & some sort of delphi thing. I'm sure it could be done with sockets, though.

Only problem was that he sent the email through comcast, which limited the plugin's use to comcast subscribers. If someone could find a way to send emails from any computer/service, we'd easily be able to make SMS alerts.
