I have had this vundo trojan or virtumonde on my computer for quite some time now and i need it removed but i also do not want to have to pay some random company a hundred bucks to get it off.

i downloaded Combofix, and it was gone in 20 mins. Not an installation antivirus, it just gets rid of the virus.

Alright. I agree with the download AVG part. But if you know the date that you got it on your computer I might be able to help. Some noob viruses are easy to self remove.

Go to "My Computer" = your computer
Go to your "Local Disk"
Go to "WINDOWS"
Go into the "system32" folder
Sort the files by "date modified"
Delete the ones from the day you got the virus.

If you don't want to do that. or pay … and you don't have anything that you need on your computer… and you have copied all the stuff that you do need onto an external device. System restore style it.

Or some (un-?)employed computer pro that makes those for either irl profit or internet reputation in some community or "1337 h4x0r" team or just to see his worm or trojan spread..

And yes, people can make big bucks with this type of crap.. If you have like a 200k botnet you can make a lot of money just spamming ads to peoples emails, DDoSing for money or threathening to DDoS if you won't get money and all kinds of crap.. I read somewhere (quite a long time ago but still) that some guy was caught that made 700 000$ or something per month with just spam. I think that's a good point :p

Malware that deletes random stuff or shuts down your pc after displaying a messagebox with "lol pwnt u fagit" and other pointless and retarded stuff is what the 13 year olds are l33t at (copy pasta from other sources).

^^ Good enough theory in this case? Sadly some people would even pay to not risk losing some family pictures and other important stuff..

Symantec (Makers of Norton) have a free Vundo Removal Tool.

I'd also recommend that you download Malwarebytes from here: http://www.malwarebytes.com/mbam.php

I had vundo before, and i tried everything to get it off. Including my existing antivirus at the time, and the Symantec Vundo Removal Tool. The only thing that worked was ComboFix, so if you indeed still have it then i really recommend using it, because if it works as well as it did for me then, it should be gone in 20 mins.

Also if you haven't tried. Sometimes Google helps as well, but most of the time no :S.

The only way to truly get rid of the backdoor it opens to your computer…

You can just let threads die for a change, there won't be peopel flooding in with different antiviruses for long… And they are good suggestions for people who have the same problem and use the search button…
