New Randoms Research

Well, I'm doing a bit of randoms research that I thought I would fill some of you in on. The evidence that I have found thusfar have brought me to these conclusions…

  • During Runescape playtime, Randoms are recieved when you are engaging in activities that gain experience.
  • If your account is flagged (Maybe not, I haven't tested without, but it is irrelevant because this information will just keep your from getting flagged), your character gets randoms based on timers that are random.
  • This evidence has been only been proven in the skill of fighting.

How I got to this conclusion

I came to this conclusion by a series of events. First of all, I knew my account of about a three years was flagged from awhile back. I recently went on the account and starting auto-ing again, first from a private fletcher, then Narcle's Echofighter. After using the fletcher for some time, I noticed I was getting more and more randoms, but when I would reduce the time my character was logged in, the randoms would reduce significantly.

I thought nothing of this and started using Narcle's EchoFighter. Using the echo Fighter's default programming, your character logs out every 6 to 18 minutes (I believe) to switch players, and then various longer breaks at intervals of a couple of hours. (Sleeping is also included as it accesses your system time).

Anyhow, I auto-ed an attack level, about about 10 strength levels, and about 20 defence levels (all these levels are above 70 with that autoing, so its not a really small leveling). Then I trained range for quite some time I'm pure range, and its significantly higher than the others, although magic is low :). I have trained over 1.2 million exp with it (I'm estimating :)).

Ok, so to the point. Whilst training att, str, and def, I kept the default settings for over 2 and 1/2 weeks, babout 6 hours a day, not one random the entire time. I then switched monsters and trained range, did this for a couple of days, and decided I wanted more Experience per hour. So I went in and changed the breaktimes to 18 - 28 minutes. When i got home from school the next day, I was surprised to find that I had had over 14 randoms whilst there (runtime about 4 hours, so its alot. You kind of have to imagine that report to actual see how much that is, the whole report box was filled). I was in lumbridge (ring of life) with about 24 boxes, I was in quiz random, and had signs of the dwarf and mysterious old man in my inventory.

So that's what started the idea, I then re downloaded the script and ran again. Strange thing is, I got no randoms. I am sure my account is flagged, because everytime I get on it to go do something, I get a random the first thing I do. And legitimately every single time I teleport I get the abyss random.

So I have been testing on and off this hypothesis, and it has always stayed true. When I kept default 6 - 18 minute breaks, I get no randoms, but when I run with 18 - 28 minute breaks, I always get many. Just as I am typing this, I'm running a program that tracks it, and I have gotted 2 or 3 randoms in a matter of minutes (with the 18 - 28 minute breaks).

So I'm thinking the evidence supports the idea. I think this could be revolutionary as far as understanding the randoms systems, because, the more we avoid randoms, the better and the better we avoid randoms, the better we avoid bans.

Thoughts, opinions, advice? Discuss. (I will be posting the actual research later once I gather enough information.)
