For those who don't know me, I'm 'that guy' who makes useless contributions to the irc channel :P
So, I realize how Freddy want to keep his source, and respect that, but I had an idea (fell free to tell me how stupid it is :P)
If Freddy works on scar as a compiler, rather then the IDE that most people will see, it means he can get more of the 'knitty gritty' stuff done, and it also means that people can design an IDE thats open source. It should be a win - win situation. And this also means that people can make other programs that utilize scar just as a compiler.
Im not sure if this would work in terms of running the script, perhaps the 'compiler' he makes can run just like scar, but from the different interface/ide. I assume all it would need to run is the ID of the windows that RS is in or w/e + the script.
Meh, if it sounds stupid its because its late and tired, but just an idea :P

SCAR uses
PascalScript as an interpreter. Freddy modded it a bit, but he didn't write it himself. He and Kait wrote all the SCAR functions though as well as the GUI for it. If he compiled into a DLL and exported everything we could make a GPL'd IDE for it though :p

ain't gonna happen I'm afraid

it wont be because…

Freddy want to keep his source
…so according to freddy, it would be a win-lose situation.
i think freddy wants to keep control of scar, so he will not do this because it means he has less control.
This can be solved with some easy math:
Control over SCAR = Freddy's penis size.
More control over SCAR = Freddy's penis++
Less control over SCAR = Freddy's penis–
He just wants to keep his penis, give the guy some slack.

Meh, people just like bashing me..
Phoenix will feature full commandline control, meaning you'll be able to control SCAR from commandline without ever having the gui open, which would perfectly allow the use of external guis… Well, SCAR 3.20 even has a -tray command, so technically it wouldn't be so much of an issue already…, less convenient, yes, but still…
But even if I'd compile SCAR into a dll so it can be integrated into other GUIs… People will never be satisfied, I've learned that whatever I do, there will always be people bashing me…

Thats a good annalagy or w/e lol.
Freddy I'm happy with what SCAR is currently like :) I can never adjust to change though :(

Well, Phoenix will be quite the change, it'll be a rewrite from scratch, so I'll be able to rid SCAR of all of the fundamental issues it currently endures… It'll be way more powerful and versatile as well… however, most scripts and includes will require somewhat of a makeover seeing it'll work a bit differently… (Better though ;) )

A bit off-topic… But will it still use Pascal Script?
EDIT: Nevermind.
