Violence v. Nudity in Movie Ratings

Why is it that violence can be shown in G films but if there is nudity it is automatically rated R+

Violence is way worse than nudity (in terms of if kids should be allowed to see it.)

I would much rather have a bunch of perverts running around that murderers or gang members.

What is your opinion?

Fixed.

And I've never understood the ratings system at all.

re-read your post, it says violence is way worse than violence :p

And I don't care, I will not be judging what my kids watch solely on those ratings.

Are you stupid? Sex is a damned impure and un-natural act of satan that's corrupting the minds of people and twisting their senses of reality and moral, instead of the natural every-day head chopping, throat cutting, shooting and whatnot. Pssh, stupid thread is stupid… What kind of a sick bastard would even ever consider having sex, not to mention WATCHING A NAKED BODY instead of blowing people up.

I think he means for movies, in America, I haven't seen a movie rated MA 15+, unless its new, but I may have seen TV shows rated in that way…

Its cultural. Plain and simple. Since cavemen what did they like to do WITH other men, Fight.

And then we get the sex/nudity thing from Religion. 1800's-1900's. Its related to why christians/catholics think "impure" to masturbate.

Fighting - Fighting = A good past time.
Nudity - WTF WERE YOU DOING LOOKING AT ANGELINA JOLIE'S @$$ BOY!

I tend to agree that violence is easier to show than nudity… Also what G movie have you seen with violence?

I saw Gladiator (<3) when I was about 7 or 8 and its not like im a mass murderer… I think the whole people goin crazy has to do with parenting and what kinda personality that person is, not with what movies they watched when they were a kid…

Mmm, I don't believe I've ever seen a PG or lower movie with violent weapons of any sort >_< PG-13 Movies often have violence, but generally not extremely bloody violence, and it's the same thing with nudity - There's a couple movies out there that are PG-13 but have brief nudity in them, so I think the movie rating people (Ub3r creative name ) have it right.

The Lion King..Hello, watch a movie for once. Scar kills Mufasa = Violence.

Maybe it's because nudity is more enjoyable to watch than violence. With violence it's just "Oh who cares I've seen it before so many times."

Don't forget the Secret of NIMH. Lots of death and violence in that one. And it was rated G.

But to be fair, most of the movies that are rated "too low" would get a higher rating if they were put forwards to be rated nowadays.
