SCAR Assistant

Hi, and thank you for showing interest in this thread.
This is SCAR Assistant, a code generator for SCAR+SRL.

SCAR Assistant is currently only released to SRL members as a beta, because I want to get everything perfect before I release it to public. Hence, I would really appreciate if you tested it and provided me some feedback.

This is what I am especially interested in hearing about:
  • Bugs/flaws?
  • Possible improvements that could be made?
  • Is it hard to understand/use?
  • How to make it more user-friendly?
  • Suggestions for new features?

Please, be a prick. Pinpoint the smallest flaw you can find and post every single idea that might come to your head regarding suggestions for new features or improvements.
I'll appreciate it very much.

NOTES:
- Press F5 to capture a screenshot of your desktop.
- Open up bitmaps using the menu (file -> open bitmap) or press CTRL+O
- It doesn't support any other image formats due to their loss of color information when they are compressed.
- Click the image to pick colors that will appear in the listbox.
- Double-click any of the colors in the listbox to get a pop-up showing the colorspace values for that selected color.
- File -> save function (or CTRL+S) to save any text that is in the textbox.
- Drag any (text) file to the textbox to show it in that textbox.

v0.3 changelog:
- Added possibility to add colors, either by providing RGB/HSL/XYZ values, or as a regular color value.
- Added tabs to debug box and images. :)
- Added right-click menus to colorlistbox and debug box.
- Added Possibility to save text in debug box.
- Couple bugfixes.
- Probably some forgotten things aswell.

v0.2 changelog:
- Fixed the "CTS(1) bug". Thank you so very much, ZephyrsFury!
- Added "Save function" option, will save anything in the textbox to a SCAR/.txt file.
- Added colorspace values viewer; double click any picked color in the listbox to show a form with the values for that color in RGB, HSL and XYZ.
- Added a Drag-and-Drop feature to the textbox, as useful as it might be. :rolleyes: Drag and drop any (text) file into the textbox to open it there.
- Added CTS 3 option for all object finding functions.
- Minor visual edits: Repositioned the "Copy to Clip" button (although I doubt anyone will be using it.. Should I remove it?), made the scrollbars and the picture potitions for the two tabs look as similar as possible, made the checkboxes for the three colorspaces in the "Autocoloring" tab appear as checked by default, disabled the ability to resize the application.
- I don't really know if I've forgotten something more, but it's probably nothing of significance.

Looks very nice, When I was playing around with it I didn't notice any bugs.
What else are you considering adding?

I think you should add:
  • Ability to save.
  • When you close it without saving, it asks you if you want to.
  • When you maximize it, the whole thing gets bigger - right now it is just blank where the new stuff is from maximizing.
Good job on this! I think Nielsie has some competition :D

That's very cool I like it… I agree with shermanator you should be able to save.

Looks cool.
But for the FIndObject, I think it should be like FindObject(x,y:integer):boolean - so that it passes back the coordinates into user variables.
As it is (as far as I can tell) it just moves to the position and returns True.

This looks pretty cool, EvilChicken! I'd suggest allowing the user to pick multiple colors and average them out (possibly with a tolerance too), though, instead of only having one color.

Nevertheless, very nice work! :)

*in a hurry, can't reply to all of you, thanks to all though, keep suggestions coming*

Thank you very much, I think I rep+'ed you yesterday.
Yes I did.

I'll concider those suggestions, I've already got a base template done for most of them. Again, thanks a lot.

It clicks the object, and I think it's the way it should stay.
Why would you prefer saving of the coords instead?

Thank you!
Although, I only know how to average colors in RGB.
And I'm such a noob that I don't even know how to find the best tolerance.
So yeah, I'll have to learn a lot today, but I'll still try to do my best.

Many thanks to all of you :)

Not bad at all for a first delphi project, kudo's :D

keep 'em coming!

function FindObject: Boolean;
var
Colors: TIntegerArray;
X, Y, I: Integer;

begin
Result := False;
if not LoggedIn then exit;
Colors := [7032120, 15588051, 6177585];
for I := 0 to 2 do
X := MSCX;
Y := MSCY;
if FindColorSpiralTolerance(X, Y, Colors[I], MSX1, MSY1, MSX2, MSY2, 2) then
begin
MMouse(X, Y, 6, 6);
Wait(170 + Random(175));
if Pos('sf', RS_GetUpText) > 0 then
begin
GetMousePos(X, Y);
Mouse(X, Y, 0, 0, True);
Result := True;
Exit;
end;
end;
WriteLn('FindObject: No colors found!');
end;

Thats what I got using Object Finding and CTS 1. You're missing a begin and end in the for do loop.

very nice, i have noticed th CTS(1) thing though as zephyr posted. but everything else seems fine.

Thank you so very much for pointing that out, Zeph!
I don't really know why that happened, I found those statements wrongly stuck under a if..then statement.. Anyway, thank you a lot. Rep+ for you is the least I could do in return. :)

it seems to not pick up on some of my clickings.

Also, i cant think of a good alternative right now, but its kind of hard to pick exact spots on a bitmap like that, so it would be nifty if you were to add arrow movement selection, but that would screw with the mouse moving.

other than that, pretty nifty job :)

How to you make large edit boxes like that with Scroll Bar?

How do you make Tabs?

How do you make them sqaure things on the Left hand side of the Text Box?

Thanks!!

Thanks for all the positive comments, people. :garfield:

As you're reading this, I'm getting closer to finish v0.3 of this application, which most likely will be the first public version. Therefore, I need your tips more than ever now; what more should I add?

I especially want focus on suggestions for new procedures(/functions), but any suggestions will be gladly considered and deeply appreciated.

For those who are interested, the most significant updates in 0.3 will be the possibility to open pictures/screenshots in separate tabs, and so with the debug boxes. (To be able to create several functions without having to overwrite old generated code.) The reason for that I've spent some time on this, is because a lot of things needed to be rewritten since stuff now is created during runtime.

Also, some right-click menus will be implemented and will neaten up the experience of using this program.

Aand that's all, I think.
If you don't give me a challenge ..?

Naum

2008-11-22 15:19:16

Ok a challange You shall have -
Make the script have a Radial Walking Aid which uses the whole world map instead of the person picking it, A bit like sumilions path maker. Only problem is you'd have to get the right radials on such a small area :)

Nauman, that's genious!
Simply genious! Thank you!

*rep+*

Even though I most likely will fail, (or this for some other reason wont work, as things usually tend to do with great ideas) I still want to try, I've always wanted an RRW in this app! Gah. Thank you so much!

Add picked colors to the top of the list?
DDTM creator

function AutoColor: Boolean; //'Click color'

WriteLn('AutoColor =' + IntToStr(AutoColor)); //ERROR

If you really need more ideas, you could make the RRW map walking app changeable to DTM map walking mode, so it would provide its own fail safe, first try the DTM, then the RRW etc

Version 0.3 released.

Please test, and report any bugs or suggestions you may have, to me. I am considering to release this to jr. members if it doesn't contain any more bugs. Also, if enough people provide feedback, I will release the source of this project.

(Changelog for newest version is located at the bottom of the very first post in this thread.

And, RadialWalk support was originally supposed to be included in this version, and I do have a version including it, but it's far from working and I will attempt to continue working on it.)

So, what more should I add? What else should I fix?

It's getting really nice, I hope you get a finished release and none beta :D
