Reflection

Hey

Well, I kinda posted this here, because I saw the other dead thread on why people didnt like reflection and

1) I didn't want to gravedig
2) I didn't want people saying stuff like "whats reflection"
3) The devs seem to be the ones who are most dislike it.

Let me say to start off really quick that I am impartial to whether we use it here or not, especially since I rarely script. But here are some thoughts:

I hear devs say that it would make thing too easy. Let me ask you something, If you want to do something the hard way, why are you here? Why are you letting your computer do the work for you? Why don't you cut every single log until 99 woodcutting, or kill every single monster to 99 strength?

It seems to me like we have lost focus a bit here. What drives this community? We are here to successfully macro, am I correct?. I cant understand if you don't like scripting in reflection, but I want you to know that I don't think you quite have it perspective.

Just an example, and I know there are problems with putting randoms in SRL using reflection because you don't want to require everyone to have them, but I think it's quite silly you don't at least solve the randoms that we can with reflection. Why sacrifice accounts that will get banned in those randoms… for what? The people that run scripts don't usually care if it's reflection or not, they want what's going to be best for their account.

So, to kind of sum it up, if you want a challenge, why are you scripting for this? That's kind of my point, or at least what came to mind when I read the last thread. Is there something more to it? Again, I am impartial, just really don't understand the logic.

P.S. I know that most people here will disapprove of this thread, being the best of the best scripters here, but I just ask for you opinion and if you see my point…

lolwat? Zephyr uses reflection, I use reflection, Markus atleast hasn't got anything against it afaik, Wizzup uses it a bit afaik, etc :p

There used to be something against it but I don't there is anything anymore…

I have what like, 3 scripts released that use reflection and require it? Are you asking indirectly why its not in SRL include?

Well in any case, I've already have an idea for a "Reflection Random Solver" That when you call this check instead it looks for randoms that reflection can solve. This of course will be in the Reflection SVN along with the reflection solvers etc, also this will go through SRLs regular random checks as well. Or at some point a full fledged random solver in the reflection SVN, so it can solve all of them using reflection checks.

We can just convert them from RSBot…

Interfaces are progressing nicely, although MasterX and MasterY are giving us headache…

Yeah won't be hard, just has to be changed into SCAR code and tweaked etc.

Hear about the interface's MasterX/Y on irc.

No I'm not asking why its not in the include. I just remember alot of people being against it.

People are still against it, just got tired of talking about it.

I'm still waiting for Reflection to do ANYTHING that can't be done without reflection.

Reflection may make it easier, but it also requires constant maintenance.

Why use an easy, breakable process when a more difficult but more reliable one works just as well?

Well, when you say "more reliable" you mean breakproof, not quality reliable, because reflection cannot be wrong (providing the same "atmosphere" used when using non reflection (ex. Runescape is actually running in smart and is working properly, which would be required by non reflection too).

And everytime runescape updates, you have to fix things too. Thats why there are revisions. Anything you use is going to break over time, question is do you want a more reliable "quality" or not.

The current Reflection system breaks every update…

Personally I don't have a problem with it but I would rather make a script that I don't have to sit and wait for someone to update something for it to work. If I had my own personal updater and was able to update my hooks right away then I would use it more. Since I am not that Java savy I can't do that.

But like Wizzup said, My scripts don't break every update like a script that uses Reflection does.
