America is not a socialistic country. Obama is quite conservative. What you call socialism is just generally accepted (and the most common) democracy in the Europe.

McCain never had a chance just for the fact he is republican. I kinda feel bad for the guy haha. His skit on SNL about his new last resort tactics was pretty funny.

I hope he doesn't turn into a gaffe machine like Biden already is.

He didn't hold a press conference for almost two months before the election. And he kept Biden out of the public limelight for the last month as well.

Well, he held his first press conference, and started off by calling himself (and apparently all other people of mixed race) a "mutt". Nice.

And he went on to attack Nancy Reagan over "seances", which was really strange. He had to come back and issue an apology within a few hours.

You turn off the teleprompters, and he's like a deer in the headlights. Hopefully this won't be a recurring problem for him and Biden.

People like you make me sick. Not voting for him because he is black. Yes, there were black voters that only voted for him because he was black. But I, for one, voted for him because of his morals, intelligence and overall ability to lead. This was my first year to vote, so I was going to make sure it counted. I watched the race since the very beginning. You know how near the end the Republicans started attacking Obama for all the money he still had left to do campaign commercials and ads? Obama fed off of the people, it was the hundreds of thousands of average Americans donating $20-50 dollars who kept him going. Not the select few donaters who donated over a grand or two at a time. I bet you didn't know McCain went bankrupt at the beginning of the race. I mean the easiest part, where everybody is still running, and he goes bankrupt? If he can't even manage that, how is going to manage the country? Also, Republicans are backstabbing bastards. There was a report on not to long ago (can't remember what it was called) that showed the beginning of the backstabbing. The guy (Again, I forget his name and the show) worked his way up to the top of the Republican charts by lying, backstabbing, spreading false rumors. He was appointed George H.W. Bush's right hand man because he was so good at it. He was on H.W's campaign and he would spread false rumors about the other candidates. If it hadn't of been for this guy H.W. AND W wouldn't have been elected. This was over 30 years ago, before I was born, yet I could see the similarities of tactics used today. Not once did you see a campaign ad or commercial from Obama attacking McCain, but how many did you see coming from McCain? Alot. That is the way Republicans are. Now, I could go on forever but I'm getting lazy and I think you get the point. But hey, what do you care? For all I know, you're a little 12 year old kid who thinks he knows what he is talking about hearing it from their parents. If you are not, then don't take it to offense. I don't believe the 'backstabbing story'. If it were true, and if there had been a public report on it, don't you think that it would have spread like wildfire, and that the Republicans would be in a horrible situation?

From the commercials I saw, a 30-second Obama commercial consisted of 25 seconds of attacking McCain, and then 5 seconds saying "I won't do this, I'll do ____". Up until near the end of the election (after some people finally saw the light and realized Obama was too liberal for the US), I almost never saw McCain attacking Obama (except maybe for a brief 5 seconds about Obama being against nuclear energy or offshore drilling).

Now, I don't in any way agree with the poster you quoted >_< But, from what I heard in the world around me, there seemed to be way more people who voted for him just because he was black than against him just because he was black. One popular opinion was "I'm voting for Obama because I want to see history made". And, as you said, about 95% of African-Americans voted for Obama, Around 50-60% of which I believe voted for their first time (based on exit polls).

Obama's campaign financing was a DISGRACE. As a Senator, he strongly advocated public campaign financing. During the primaries, he said he was going to take public money. He vowed to make and agreement with the Republican nominee to make sure both sides used public money. He even had his lawyers write up a binding contract that would force both candidates to take public money, and had it authorized as valid by the Federal Elections Commission.

Then, after he realized he could get more money by opting out, he immediately reneged on all his promises and took the money.

You said you voted for him because of his morals?? And you think that his fundraising is a GOOD thing? The two are mutually exclusive, aren't they?

I found the name of the story to back up my claim. The person's name was Lee Atwater. It was aired on PBS. Here is the link. Lee Atwater

@ Rune. They have been doing it for 30+ years now. I'm pretty sure they have a technique that doesn't appear to be backstabbing. In the report, it showed a t.v. reporter asking Atwater about his claims he had said about a candidate. He totally denies it and then explains a way around the claim. Which the reporters agree with since they didn't know any better. As for the commercials, what you had seen was the Democratic commercials, not directly from Obama. The ones that HE produced never attacked McCain or anybody. There was one, however, that was put up on the internet but was only up for a day and then taken down, it was never aired over t.v. Obama had an hour and a half of commercials that never even mentioned McCain's name. How is it attacking him? As for your claim on the voters.
One popular opinion was "I'm voting for Obama because I want to see history made". And, as you said, about 95% of African-Americans voted for Obama, Around 50-60% of which I believe voted for their first time (based on exit polls)
First of all, exit polls really don't mean anything now days. Secondly, where did you hear/see this? Could you please provide some proof? I would be happy to read/consider it if you did. One last thing before I move on. If Obama hadn't of been a "Liberal Socialist Muslim Black Terrorist", then how bad would the beating have been?

@ Tara. What's wrong with taking public money? He said he was going to do it and he did. McCain didn't want to accept public money, I really don't know why but he chose not to. *All of the following are cited from FactCheck.org* Obama raised about $287M while McCain raised about $120M. All of Obama's money came from individual contributions, only 88% for McCain. Obama relied on the average person for donations. Out of all the money received from donations, 47% were from individuals who donated $200 or less, compared to McCain's 26%. McCain got scared at the end, he couldn't keep up with Obama, that is why he started collecting public money. See, you're doing exactly what I said the Republicans did. Attacking him because he made too much money because he was smart.

Now listen, I'm not trying to start an all out war. I'm being as nice and polite as I can be. I'm debating the way it SHOULD be done, not how it IS done. More things would be accomplished these days if people could hold a debate calm and relaxed. That's all I have for now, and with that, good night.

The saddest part of all about the financing is that now McCain's money will get extreme scrutiny while Obama's will get none.

The day before the election he was forced to return an illegal contribution from his illegal alien aunt. He raised tens of millions of dollars from pre-paid debit cards which are untraceable. He was getting tens of thousands of dollars donated in people's names who never sent him a dime, and whose names and personal details were being used to make fraudulent donations.

He was the first candidate since Watergate in the 70's to opt out of public financing. It was smart but immoral and he broke a campaign promise to do so.

Ah yes, I neglected to follow up on the "$200 or less" statement.

CONVENIENTLY, that is the level at which NO DISCLOSURE is required.

If they donated $201, then you would have to give their name and identifying information to the Federal Election Commission and watchdog groups. If they donate $199, you don't have to report anything. No names, no addresses, no nothing.

So, if you were trying to defraud the system, what would your donations look like? Would they be mostly $200+ donations, or mostly less than $200?

Again, the true believers talk about 47% of all Obama's money coming from these unreported, untraceable donors as if it's a GOOD thing, when nothing could be further from the truth. Even if Obama didn't try to defraud the system, there is a strong possibility that others around the globe did, primarily by pouring tens or hundreds of millions into Obama's campaign through these types of donations.

The >$200 loophole is the biggest one left in campaign financing, especially in today's world where anyone can spoof internet donations from anywhere using untraceable forms of payment.

It depends on your definition of Muslim, doesn't it? His father was a Muslim, which according to some definitions would make him a de facto Muslim. His Indonesian school admission forms list his religion as Muslim. At least there is a reasonable argument for that belief. The only thing worse than trying to make a big deal about the facts on this issue is whitewashing them and pretending they don't exist.

While that is true…

Who cares if he is Muslim. Last time I checked there was no religious requirement to president of the United States. He could worship Satan and it wouldn't make a difference to me. We need a non-Christian in politics for once.

My definition of religion is a person's beliefs. So I'm pretty sure Obama knows what religion he is. If he says he is Christian, how can you argue with him? Religion is PERSONAL. Just because his father, who left before Obama was old enough to understand anything even related to religion, was a Muslim does not mean Obama follows the same path. And even if he was Muslim, that should not deny him the opportunity to be President. There are plenty of videos that show McCain supporters saying "We need a white Christian in the White House, not a Muslim!" That kind of racist thinking is outdated and moronic.
