Ok, I see, Obama wants Change. Change, Change, Change. Now, let's look at this in an easy perspective.

You have a 28" Plasma TV, but it's crap.

You have a white plad couch that only fits 2 and has stains.

You want:

42" LCD TV, but it's expensive.

A brown leather wrap around couch that sits up to 7.

Here's the problem. To CHANGE, you require money. The nation is already in debt, ALOT, now why not lets change some more? No change is good that is free, unless giving away money cuz that's nice but we can't do that.

(language report)
So lets replace my above situation with healthcare and etc, and guess what, the money for CHANGE is not coming out of Obama's paycheck. It is coming out of the wealthy people in the United States, and NOT the poor little bitches that don't want to work. Being in a household above 150k, I know that we are going to get completely fucked over in taxes, and I really am not looking forward to this bullshit he's got planned.

As in, the people who have gone through schooling for 8 years, suffering to say, and are now brain surgeons, dentists, doctors, etc. The people who have pushed for what they want are being punished? And no one can tell me any bullshit about how the poor didn't have the opportunities that rich have. They are poor lazy people who vote for Obama thinking everything is going to be FREE, but no, it's coming out of the rich families.

Why is Iraq such a big deal? We aren't losing that many soldiers there anymore.

And before you say "It's costing us $10 billion per month", remember that we're spending $43 BILLION per month just on interest payments on the national debt.

Don't you think we should start by fixing our gaping budget deficits instead of pouring more gas on the fire?

My biggest concern about Obama isn't that he will tax rich people, it's that he would ONLY tax rich people, instead of making a tough decision to share the sacrifice necessary to get our budget back on track.

And Blumblebee, pretty much every US President in the last 50 years has left office in disgrace or defeat. Sad, but true. Bush has gotten far more criticism and blame than he deserved.

America finally made a good decision after 8 years of complete idiocy with the moron Bush in office. All you racists and haters can say all you want about Obama but electing him was a necessary move. Mccain had the same exact policies as Bush, and guess what, we've been in a major shithole because of Bush for the past 8 years. Obama's policies more or less resemble those of Clinton in which we had a *gasp* SURPLUS at the end of the year. So all those people stuck on the fact that Obama is black, get over it. All those people stuck on the lie that he's a socialist, stop being so ignorant.

Such a disappointment, McCain should have won. It became such a black and white election, if Obama was white, McCain would have won. Oboma just finished paying off his student loans, McCain was a prisoner of war for over 5 years. F*** obama and McCain should have won.

To lakerzz8, the reason why Obama was elected was because half the people that voted for him were f****** following a trend or because he was black. I'm not racist I'm just telling you what's what.

oh, and where is that money you were talking about gonna come from? the tax raisies that wealthy people will get…

You really piss me off. With 'Change'…. So all change is the right change? Lets take a small McDonald's restaurant for instance. There's 10 workers (cashiers, fry cooks, etc) and a manager. Lets say the owner (AKA Obama) says, "Hey, manager, I'm cutting your hard earned pay in half so I can pay the other guys more". He takes away half of the manager's salary to increase the workers' pay. The manager, who has probably had education, works much longer hours, etc, has to give his money to the kid who dropped out of high school because he was lazy. That's what Obama wants to do, and it's COMPLETELY unfair.

People who work just 40 hours a week without an education and get enough money to almost pay the bills should be considered lucky. Take my parents for instance. They came to the US when they were 25 or so, from a foreign country. My mom didn't even know English, so she had to take a couple years of college to learn a bit. We could hardly afford to pay rent on our 2 room apartement, but we managed. My dad went to Med School with the money he managed to scrounge up. A couple years later he started his residency, and then he could afford to pay for my mom's Med School. They took all these hard years, nearly 10 years, to get an education when we traveled to the US lugging just 6 suitcases behind us. Now, we live well, and Obama wants to take our hard work away. You mean to say that my parents should give their money to the guy who works just 40 hours a week without an education? My dad works 80, and my mom is part-time atm because she has to study for her final residency exams (which she failed last year because in her 80 hour work-week it was impossible to find time to study). It just ISNT FAIR that we have to work and give a nice chunk away

I laugh at the fact you think you'd get all the money from the rich people. If that happens, not only will we be Socialists, but we will also lose all the 'rich people', who have had virtually all their money taken away. What'll happen when you tax the hell out of doctors, and nobody wants to become a doctor anymore? Not only will that mean higher health insurance costs, but the wealthier people would hate to be living in the US, and would probably move.

From: richk1693

Every 'change' starts somewhere. For Obama, it's making everyone have a similar amount of money.

Checks and Balances aren't Checks and Balances when the President's buddies are doing the Checks and Balances amongst themselves.

Obama will be the end of the US unless somebody does something about it. (I don't mean kill him, I mean….I don't know what I mean, there's nothing anyone can do)

That is just pathetic. How will this President effect you, and the previous one would not? For all I know you aren't even 18… Are you super-duper rich? I didn't notice, so I don't see a problem there, either. So, what IS bothering you about Obama (and his party)?

tarajunky

2008-11-05 09:44:16

There are numerous MAJOR issues facing this country that have to be dealt with immediately.

Social Security and Medicare need reform immediately. And as we know, Democrats are constantly pandering to retirees. So that means that seniors won't be asked to sacrifice at all, and the young people will be forced to make all the sacrifices. This is probably the biggest problem with Obama/Dems right now.

The budget deficits are unsustainable and must be fixed immediately. But Obama and the Dems are constantly playing class warfare games and promising free handouts to the lower classes. That means that they won't ask the poor and middle class to pay more taxes, or to receive less benefits to help balance the budgets. And any money he may raise from the rich will go toward more new spending. Again, this is another problem that will go unsolved because Obama and the Dems will all agree and won't have any pressure to make the tough decisions necessary to solve it.

Obama CAN be a successful President, but only if he breaks almost every pandering campaign promise he has made and does the right thing for the country. Tough times call for tough measures and decisive action, not campaign rhetoric.

Blacks and Mexicans came out in record numbers to vote ;). I think it played a role in his winning. See any pictures with white people and Obama? It's like the "Where's Waldo" game, if you don't believe me try it out.

I'm 19 and I didn't vote and by the looks of it my 1 vote wouldn't have decided the state of California to give their EVs to the Republicans.

I just feel like Obama is hiding something. I mean the man that was his mentor and 'leader' through his child hood 'Damned the United States' and his wife stateing something about "It's the first time I've been proud of America" or to that effect. I really don't want that dumb bitch being first lady either. Somethings I just don't like about him.

Hopefully I get proven wrong though.

[offtopic=bush]
And whoever said the United States has been going in a shit hole the past 8 years, what? Stocks were up higher than ever before, we had a great economy. The past year or so with gas prices sky rocketing and stock market going down is the worst part.

And would people stop saying shit about how the war was a bad thing.
HONESTLY what would America had done if Bush would had just sat back in his nice leather chair and done NOTHING about what happened? Something had to be done there and action needed to be taken or other terrorist groups could have easily came right back and done the same exact thing.

If he would have sat back, he would have been ridiculed about not doing anything.

They did that so I could live a better life, they worked their as*es off while some people where saying F***college I don't need to get a good job to live. If something affects the rich people, it will trickle down to the middle/lower classes too. Where would the US be without doctors, businessmen, successful investors, etc? Obama will hurt all of them, they'll all get ub3rly mad, and do something about it. A reasonable alternative for people such as investors, businessmen, etc. would be to leave the US. Since (AFAIK) you can still do your job (investing, creating/selling products) at least almost as well elsewhere. Doctors are stuck with a problem (Doctors don't make as much in other countries, so that's why the US' doctors are generally superior, at least that's what I hear), but eventually (not immediately, might take a year or two), there won't be too many doctors = higher health insurance = increased doctor salaries, woot :) Not guaranteed that will happen, but I hope it does.

Anyone living in the US could be rich if they wanted to. At least, up until Obama takes office.

Being Canadian, our economy is largely effected by America. And I know if McCain was to be elected, it would have been the same rape to the environmental and economical policies as Bush. And for that, I can rest easy.

Obama will probably get more flak then other presidents though. He will make a bad decision and everyone will criticize more so. I wish him luck, he has a lot of fixing to do. Hopefully Obama starts changing the direction of the States for the best… Quickly lol.

From: Runescapian

Most people are barely mature enough to live day to day life. When you give people as much power as a democratic vote most people do not sit down and think about but their country needs. The problem with democracy is EVERYONE gets a vote, and I myself do not believe in that. A good example why is the very thing you brought up! When you start voting for any reason except to have the best suited person with the best beliefs pertaining to the certain time and problems and start voting for someone just because you want to the other party to lose or you want a black president then it starts skewing the results.

And the worst part is you can start talking to them, and ask them why they are voting for a certain party and they will say something like "I am voting for x, because I do not like y and z". Last I checked one of the democratic rights was to abstain from voting. Ahhh god just aggravates me to no end when people with this way of living life is effecting my life.</rant>

To lakerzz8, the reason why Obama was elected was because half the people that voted for him were f****** following a trend or because he was black. I'm not racist I'm just telling you what's what.

I am a McCain Supporter. I am scared like hell to have Obama in the White House. And I am only 15 years old. I am a sophmore in High School and a Catholic.

Obama's ideals and morals are idiotic.
Obama is a great supporter of abortion. I absolutely am against abortion. I could NEVER kill my own child. I could NEVER have my child be murdered or literally vacuumed out of my girlfriend/wife's body. Of course I believe there are circumstances such as rape or bodily harm to the woman in which I believe morally it is allowable.

Obama wants to raise taxes for high income families and pretty much give this money to the low income families. I am in a mid income family. I don't see how giving unemployed people money is supposed to make their lives easier. Why not try and invent more jobs for people so that they can learn to responsibly take care of themselves and their families? Give a man a fish, and he will be happy for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he will be happy for a lifetime. (something like that.. lol)

I pray to God he doesn't get assassinated. I also pray he doesn't screw this country over more than it already is.

I doubt there are more racists than there are African-Americans (And yes, I'm assuming pretty much all African-Americans voted for Obama, and I don't blame them tbh), + the fact that so many people voted for Obama just because they 'wanted to be there when history was made', and the people who were afraid of being called racists and voted for him just for that. At first, that's how I thought (stupid, I know), but then I watched the debates, listened to their plans, etc. That's when I changed my mind. All in all, being black helped Obama much more than it hurt him IMO.

First of all, 150k is not in their plan, its 250k. You are listening to one of mccains supporters who mislead people on a mistake one of obamas people made.

Their plan ALWAYS called for the 250k limit. One of obamas people mentioned the words "middle class" and mccains ppl went off with that.

You are the kind of person that has been pissin me off all day and im soo glad yall lost. It shows that people are finally opening their minds to new possibilites. And also shows we are ready for change.

They are not trying to take rich peoples money. They are trying to get people who are ABLE to pay the taxes to pay higher taxes and the people who work 40 hours a week for shit pay and can barely pay the bills might have enough money at the end of the month for groceries.

oh, and where is that money you were talking about gonna come from? the tax raisies that wealthy people will get…

ok buddy, well i got some bad news for you,"i read only the top paragraph of ur post"… and idc about the rest….

ok so, how u said middle class…. if you do the math, there is no way that the wealthy people of u.s. will be able to support the dumb 850bil "bailout"

so obama will raise the taxs for middle class…. you will see.. he wil get greedy..(ask your self why the u.s. has a 850 bil debt)((maybe because the senate got to00000000 greedy?))

and just to let you know, there is 6% of people in the u.s. which don't work….. with mccain as president, he himself said,"many many times" he will create jobs…
and those 6% is roughly around 3.2m people…
and if those 3.2m people will work, then the people who can't buy groceries and pay for bills will have a bit lower tax.

(with obama in lead, he will dismantle the army, which leave the u.s. weak…

and guess what… maybe the taliban will hit u.s. again… how about that?lol

mccain was the better choice….

Your post was very entertaining, gave me a good laugh.

1. The bailout was supported by both McCain and Obama so if you say Obama will have to raise taxes than McCain would have done no better. Also, the US is not in 850 bil debt, the US is in almost 10 trillion debt. However, the last time a Democrat was President we were positive at the end of the year. Bush, and not the senate (which was majority democrat for only the past year), got us into a deep ass deficit shithole.

2. That's very nice that McCain said he will create jobs. Has Obama said he will eliminate jobs? No, everyone says shit. Just because McCain said he will create jobs does not mean that he would be able to accomplish that. If McCain said Palin was intelligent, that doesn't make it true!

3. Obama will not dismantle the army. Obama wants to get the hell out of Iraq (where we have no business being, where they want us out by 2011 anyway) and focus on the original goal of catching Bin Laden by sending more troops to Afghanistan. And by the way, the plan for withdrawal in Iraq that Obama proposed during the election, Bush has already begun setting into action.

4. McCain was not the better choice. He was the second coming of George Bush. And if the country had to deal with another Bush for 8 more years we would surely be destroyed. I am not a religious man, but thank God Obama won.

and are you kidding? mccain was in the senate for over 22 years, and obama was in the senate for only 4!!!!! LMAO

First, I wanted to address that making fun of someone's age and calling them "stupid" without any proof is not the way to make yourself seem any more mature. (I expect a chidly "I don't care what you thinK" response to this.

Secondly, yes, McCain has more experience as Senator. Experience as a Senator does not mean he is right for the country during this time. Obama's lack of experience is made up for by having a VP with experience and being a very well-educated and smart man.

Didn't mean to double post but how is that chart total propaganda? Do you have any facts refuting it? And it is a proven fact that those with a college degree tended to side with Obama while those without a college education tended to side with McCain, so it would only make sense that those with a higher IQ voted for Obama and those with lower IQs voted for McCain. There is a reason the Southern people are portrayed as backward hillbillies (no offense).

PS. Don't call someone retarded and misspell the word "retarded" it makes you look like a complete retard.

Edit: Some facts I found based on a little googling.

From: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/23/AR2008092303667_pf.html
Much of the movement has come among college-educated whites. Whites without college degrees favor McCain by 17 points, while those with college degrees support Obama by 9 points. No Democrat has carried white, college-educated voters in presidential elections dating back to 1980, but they were a key part of Obama's coalition in the primaries.

+ With all the dumb people who say, "I voted for Obama cause I want to see a historic moment", or all the African-Americans who voted for him just because he's black (Again, I don't really blame them, it'd be really weird to see a black voter supporting McCain, but if I were black, and over 18, then I just wouldn't vote, tbh). Those only make this even unlikelier.

(By the way, other than those two things above, I agree with most of the stuff you've said, lakerzz, since my last post)

I find it funny how all the white middle to high class kid-teenagers who have been brainwashed by their parents who have in turn been brainwashed by McCains progandha are raging because Obama won, while really having no idea at all about how the economy or anything else is actually run - who prefer to regurgitate things they've heard their parents have said instead of researching it and coming up with their own opinion themselves (most of this thread)

At everyone planning to leave america because "OMG OLOLOLOL OUR COUNTRY IS SCREWED KNOW", LOL, by all means go for it, I'm sure if everyone who's thinking of leaving actually did leave your country would be better off, the average IQ would probably raise by a few points, just don't come to Australia, because we don't want you

I find it amusing that you're saying McCain supporters have been brainwashed by the media. The only thing you ever heard on the news before the election was "Palin was a stupid VP pick", "McCain is old", "Obama wants change, we need change!", etc. It was totally biased towards Obama. Near the last week or two before the election (basically after Obama finally gave McCain an easy way to prove he was a socialist with his conversation with Joe the Plumber), it pretty much evened out. But before that, completely biased towards Obama.

And how can you say 'McCain supporters from middle-school to high school don't know how the economy works', when Obama supporters are most likely the exact same? Might as well just say this whole argument is completely pointless…

Some of us might be 'raging', sort of, but we're actually debating in pretty much the same way as we were before the election. Except now, instead of

"If Obama becomes president, he wil…."

It's now

"Since Obama is president, this will happen: …."

But all in all, it's the same thing.

The whole argument really is kinda pointless, if you think about it. We don't know for sure what Obama is going to do, and what McCain may or may not have done is kind of irrelevant at this point.

Well, the point of most debates is to basically predict what will happen if you do this or this, or if you think this is real, etc. And we're basically debating how well/bad Obama will do. When I said "You might as well say this whole argument is pointless…" I meant that supposedly we have no idea how the economy works and therefore we have no idea what we're arguing about.

Right, because the people that donated money to the Obama campaign want him using that money on his family. That makes a lot of sense right?!? :duh: :duh: :duh: :duh: :duh:

And do you know how much money Obama has given to his family? Do you know their exact situation and circumstances? I doubt it. So don't comment on it because you are probably wrong.

I never said to use the campaign money. Just bringing up a fact that he has the record for most money spent on a campaign. What i was trying to say is that he made 4 million dollars last year, and a lot of his family is living off of nothing. So what im saying is he should try to spread some of his wealth to his own family before he tries to make the rest of the country spread their wealth around to lazy people.

This is not a challenge, just a question - Why was George Bush bad? I don't know much about him since I was like 8-10 years old when all the stuff was happening, and obviously I didn't pay much attention to it then.

I don't really want to give a whole history lesson here, you can look up most of this stuff with a simple search on google. What I will say though is that Bush currently has something like a 25 percent approval rating which is the lowest for any President. Here's a chart to show how his approval has dropped:

It's important to note after Sept 11, Bush had the highest approval rating of any President and now he has the lowest. So it's not like the people were always against him.

Gallup is the most famous polling organization. If you don't believe their numbers I don't know how else I can prove to you it is true. I personally saw it reported on Fox News and remember hearing it from other sources.

Here are some other exit polls: http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/results/polls/#USP00p1

If you look at all of them, I guess they tell a slightly different story, but they still show Obama winning in the highest income range (as well as the 3 lowest) and winning with all college grads, etc, but the numbers differ from the gallup poll.

Do you know whether or not Obama donates any money to his family or his relationship to any of them? If you do, please shed some light on how you know. If you don't, you really are in no position to talk about them. Seeing as how Obama was raised by his Grandmother, I don't know how close he was with any of his other relatives.

Approval means nothing to me :\ In my opinion, the media played a huge part in that, and I don't believe I've ever heard them talk about any of the good things George Bush did. I guess I'll try to find something other than the war (which I approve of how he handled) and the debts (which came from the war basically) on google later.

EDIT: And the economy… I've heard that started when Bill Clinton was president, and the economy looked great until…mid 2007 I think? (Was that when it started dropping?). If so, then it's just as much the Democratic Congress' fault as much as Bush's, since it was only noticeable when both of them were in office.

Is there anything else major that many people don't approve of?

Interesting site, nice :) Well, the income doesn't mean much, since the highest category is 200k+. Anybody from 200-250 (probably at least 50% of the 200k+) would have a decent reason to vote for Obama, and the multi-millionares (not that many, but still probably a good 10-20% of the 200k+) who, as tarajunky mentioned on the 'Is Barack Obama a Socialist?' thread, feel they aren't worthy of all the wealth they have, and they want to give it away. That's dumb though, in my opinion, because if you donated it yourself to charities, you would get respected, but now Obama is doing it for you, and you'll be just another taxpayer >_<. The education thing….Well, I don't know what to say about that, you win on that topic? :p

Lol @ how all non-whites in an overwhelming majority voted for Obama :p

EDIT: Wait a minute, exit polls? >_< Especially on education, I bet any money millions of people were like, "I'm going to say I'm a postgraduate so Obama looks better".

Do you honestly believe that a 90 percent approval rating from 2001 dropped to 25 percent by 2008 all because of the media? I mean I know it has a strong influence, but reporting without facts would only do so much, especially to the people that voted for him. I understand if that number would be around 50 (democrats would disapprove of him no matter what), but at 25, you have half of republicans that voted for him disapproving of him too. The role the media played is giving the people the information, and playing his soundbites where he makes himself look like an idiot over and over again.

And I completely disagree with tarajunky's "theory." It makes no sense whatsoever that people who made big money (and unless you inherited it, you worked hard for it. Making an idea or turning an idea into gold is not easy, otherwise everyone would be doing it) want to just give it away because they feel bad. If this was the case, our whole capitalistic system would collapse because capitalism is based on the assumption that everyone works for themselves and because of that, society benefits. I make the best possible shoes because I want to get paid, but by making the best shoes, the people wearing them benefit.

I would take your bet because I doubt "millions" of people lied on their exit polls. There is a lack of motivation to lie and by selecting random groups and random people you hopefully minimize the effects of those. Even if only 1 out of every 10 people lied, there would be equal number of McCain supporters who lied to make McCain look good. So I doubt that is really a factor and not a valid reason for discounting the polls.

Exactly what policies do you want to know about? There are so many issues that is impossible to know where he stands on every single one unless you're specific.

I'm assuming you're a McCain supporter? Which of his policies suited you?

I'm not one to get into american politics, but after studying it a bit, (got tired of looking like that foreigner bush basher) Your president bush couldn't get any of his decisions that could of prevented the economy from turning into what it is. Take a look at the previous presidents decisions, it is entirely not president bushes fault for this turmoil. I don't want to cause an argument or whatever, but study a bit before you say ill about a good man :p

Pretty much. It's one thing if the media doesn't talk about anything good that the president is doing. It's another if they also make it seem like every bad thing is his fault.

And everyone has soundbites, maybe some more than others.

As I think you (or kingarabian?) said earlier, people like George Bush or….well I can't think of too many right now, but many people only get what they have because of their family. Would George Bush be where he is right now if his father hadn't been president before? People like him obviously didn't have to work as hard as others would, and some of those people would fall under tarajunky's theory. In my eyes, socialism is like a mandatory charity where you must give your money to those with less money, exactly what Obama wants to do.

You said it yourself - Since it was a one time vote, as far as I know (unlike say, for instance, the pre-election polls), and random people were picked, etc. If you were a guy who had no education and made 20k a year, would you honestly tell someone that, even under anonymity? I definitely wouldn't. But I hate to lie, so I wouldn't take the poll in the first place, but not everyone is like me.

EDIT: Nobody has given a good answer as to where Obama will get all the money he needs for all his projects, plans, etc. :\

He raised 650 million dollars by chanting "Yes we can".

Just think. He raised 650 million just to run an election. If people are willing to chip in 650 million just for PR, why wouldn't they be willing to chip in 10 times more than that to actually DO something?

I think Obama should go back to all his supporters than financed his campaign and tell them "Now it's time to put your money where your mouth is and pay for real change".

Besides, there are campaign limits where you can only put in $2300. No such limit exists for raising money on behalf of the government, so why not hit up all the rich liberals for a few million apiece to do some good?
