Wierdest Request Ever!

Blender

2008-11-03 17:01:52

Since I am doing this from my PSP, it will be short. Can anyone make a script that avoids randoms, talks (I can handle that part) and banks grapes from the Cooking Guild. My script got my account down the stairs, but not any farther.

Thanks!

"Your script" being..?

and ALL randoms? not possible with non-reflection scar.

You can't really avoid randoms btw..

There are some people at SRL that use this Ub3r S3cr3t trick that avoids a lot of randoms though you gotta ask them for it….

Erm. FindNormalRandoms; covers most of them.

Solving randoms =/= avoiding randoms.

You definately can avoid randoms. When using my clay softener I switch players every 8-15 minutes. I had an 18 hour proggy yesterday without a single random event.

I tested using only one player so it just logged out and logged back in every 8-15 minutes. It went for 3 hours and I didn't get a single random.

I get randoms using the best scripts i can find. Most are solved except the quiz, and i got a maze that was halfway finished when i got back on.

(again from PSP)
My script just clicks the distinctive color of the grape until the inventory is full. It does respond to some phrases (see AutoTalker project) and avoids most randoms. I'll post my script tomorrow when I get back from my vacation. It's really simple though (like 60 lines).

No, you can't avoid randoms.

The only reason you don't get that many when you're logged in for 15 minutes is plainly because you aren't logged in for enough time to get a random.

JaGex doesn't know when you're going to log out, so it's impossible for them to schedule random events.

Blender

That is why my scripts don't work very well!

Thanks people.

Nvm on the script request; I know why my scripts don't work.

They all rely on SOLVING randoms. Not avoiding them.

I'll post completed autominer test script tomorrow with proggy…

You are wrong, my script have brought me 50,000 chocolate bars, 20,000 potatoes, 5000 pizza and proggies , 15 hours + Does takes 5-10 mins breaks every half hour or so but Ranoms have = 0;

You have 0 randoms because you were never logged in enough to get any -.-

Aye. That is true. You can't argue that JaGeX could ever plan a random event, since there's the obvious possibility that the player will log off at any given moment. Random events are.. Random! It's loaded into the code for certain things, namely amongst skills. Be it burying a bone, or chopping a tree: JaGeX sets a random event to getcha! Thus, "random". =P

I agree 100%, PoW..There's no way that you can avoid a RANDOM event..

Dervish

2008-11-06 13:10:04

Well you can't AVOID a random event completely, but you can DRASTICALLY lower the amount you get by taking regular breaks, changeing players each 9-15 Minutes, and if you ever get any while one of your players are logged in, your FindNormalRandoms should cover if its not an unsolvable.

Well, there were ways… probably still are…

Not that I know of any that still work ;)

EDIT: When I saw "weirdest request ever" this wasn't what I immediately thought of :P

There WERE ways to never get any randoms as long as you didn't log out…

lolz, i took sleeping out, ive ran for probally 20-30 hours without randoms ( 5-8 hour runs). Also i know how to trigger randoms.

On forefeathers, I log out every 20 mins or so and I rarely get randoms. That's one of the ways to "avoid" randoms I guess you could say.

TViYH

2008-11-06 19:35:10

You're not AVOIDING the randoms.

You just weren't on long enough to get any.

You can't AVOID something that is RANDOM.

You're not triggering anything.

Players can't force a random. So, in essence, you're not "triggering" anything.

cause

2008-11-06 23:15:09

Actually, players can "trigger" randoms. I run my army for over 3 days straight, zero randoms, but I can guarantee that if I go on one of them and bury a bone, I will get a random. I've done it millions of times (now I've stopped because I don't want prayer exp :P)
Dude, the general message is, take breaks! Take a 5-10 min break every halfhour and you will get WAY less WAY less randoms! Do it up, run a test, post some results, I'm interested!

mormonman

2008-11-06 23:34:45

lol i did that when i used to alch… do like 200 alchs then cut a tree! i think i didn't get a random like 3 times out of like 60 tries! lol i made money alching because of that(500gp a lot of the randoms!)

TViYH

2008-11-07 07:19:37

But that's not because you're triggering them.

RuneScape may have something set up to where every so few dropped bones you get a random. But, no sir, you aren't forcing the randoms to happen.

benjaa

2008-11-11 04:45:41

But if every time plan to not stay on long enough to get a random, wouldn't that technically be avoiding them?

TViYH

2008-11-11 20:27:55

No, because you did nothing to avoid them. You are just trying to avoid them. If you log in and start doing something, you did nothing to avoid them, you just followed a theory.

The fact is: YOU CAN NOT AVOID SOMETHING RANDOM UNLESS EFFECTING THE RANDOMNESS OF THAT VARIABLE.

Brain

2008-11-11 20:45:42

OKAY!!! TheVoiceInYourHead, EVERYONE here knows that you think players cannot trigger randoms.

Not everyone feels this way, instead of saying that you can't do it, post examples of why you think that, and any evidence you have. I however do feel that in a sense you can avoid randoms, I have run a chicken killer for days straight without a single random (per randoms report, and no false) and when I get on one or two of them and do something, like Cause had said (bury a bone) A random will appear most of the time.

TViYH

2008-11-11 23:04:36

Reason: Ok, if you were rolling a die (completely random, 1-6). Can you roll that die a special way so it will never roll a 3 or a 5? No.

You have a normal deck of cards. You're given 26. Can you possibly avoid getting an Ace of Spades or a Jack of Clubs? No.

You can't avoid something random. Either it happens or it doesn't.

Brain

2008-11-11 23:07:00

The theory that "randoms" in runescape are not completely random, but have triggers. I understand your argument for controlling true random event in reality, but runescape is not random.

TViYH

2008-11-11 23:15:35

Okay, I will admit that there is 1 trigger. That is burying bones.

But. You can't do anything (that I know of) to get, nor avoid, other randoms.

benjaa

2008-11-12 00:48:35

But to avoid it, you can NOT do the trigger. That means you choose to avoid, in a sense

yea… the problem is that there are definitely more triggers than burying bones… just think about when you usually get randoms.

TViYH

2008-11-17 20:06:49

You're not triggering those randoms. It's just that those randoms are set to be used with those events. This doesn't mean you're triggering them. They're random. You can't say, "after 5 bones I will get a random."

Brain

2008-11-17 20:08:46

I just got done chicken killing from 1-1-1, to 40-40-40, when I logged in a buried a bone, 4 of the 6 chars got a random.

TViYH

2008-11-17 20:28:48

But you didn't trigger it. Technically, it happened randomly.

Actually with MAGIC TRICKS you can do that lol. But no, seriously, I really don't agree with anyone on this. See either you do something or you don't. That action either has a consequence or it doesn't. Then that either causes something to happen or it doesn't. You get my point? You can't fully avoid randoms, you can just maneuver around them.

Sandstorm

I'm with Camo on this. Neither of you is right, neither is wrong. You can't stop random events, but you can stop them going to you, if you do it properly. I did a full army 1/1/1-30/30/30 in like 4 days, not a single random event (besides SRL Logs :o).

There used to be a glitch in the stronghold of security where you could alch the left half of the skull sceptre and get a random event every single time. When a group of 6 people started doing it the server went down.
