Remember Sleepwalker ?

Back in rsc we had sleepwalker to get fatique sleep questions,
I bet we have some coders experienced enough to make similiar system for school random.

What do you guys think ?

Why the heck would it be a no-go ? It worked for fatigue, why not School random ? It would be a plugin to scar, I think other topic considered scar-insider.

Client would send a SS of question to the system, the solver guy would click on the picture and then press a button to send the info, and those clicks would be registered as co-ords, and sent back to client.

I don't see a big difference to sleep solving system, so I'd love to see some good arguments why wouldn't it work ?

OH and ofcourse there would be point system made similar to sleepwalker. YOU GET YOUR SCHOOLS SOLVED THE TIMES YOU'VE SOLVED FOR SOMEONE ELSE, THATS WHAT THE POINT SYSTEM MEANS, thanks.

DO NOT POST IF YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW SLEEPWALKER WORKED.

There's been at least two other threads with similar ideas such as this. Try searching for those and you'll see how the responses will be (I think the system was a no-go, but I'm not sure).

Harry made a thread EXACTLY LIKE THIS!!!!! Read that discussion!!!!! Omg

One simple reason it would not work is because it would be too slow and people could do weird stuff to your account.

Would be obtainable but how would we get people to man the *stations* people would end up abusing it. It would have to be an admin, which they have no time to do this kind of stuff.

Wellmaybe not? A message box could pop up and give you the picture. SCAR could already have the co-ords. Type 1, 2, or 3 and SCAR could click on the first second of third box.

Now we have an active IRC I think this project could actually work pretty well..

Sleepwalkers were in the rsc time not the Aryan Rs2 time.

Well if people got some sort of reward for doing this then I think it could work, they probably won't do it for free tho. Maybe some sort of points system or something?

Ofcourse you'd get points like sleepwalker, and the times you've solved for someone else you can get your own schools solved.

And I love people that have no idea what sleepwalker was or how it worked to not post, because you probably can't see what I see.

And what comes to that; You got any idea what sleepwalker was, YOU get your schools solved with POINTS that you get from solving it for OTHERS, If you want to get your schools solved YOU have to solve school for OTHERS.

Honestly, If you have no idea how sleepwalker worked, please don't post, because you just can't understand how it would go.

I don't see whats the problem in this:

It would be a plugin for scar, you have to enter your schoolbully ( what ever we would call it) username and password and then you'd get a picture in a box, you have to give clicks on it, scar would take those clicks as cordinates and send them back, if solve status returns true from the client you've solved the random for, You'd get one point added to your schoolbully account and visa versa if returns false, you'd get one point taken from your schoolbully account.

I don't really see much of a problem, I'd start to make it right away if I just had time. Hope this could be turned into a community project or something.

The point is, you need people active 24/7 answering those questions.. The chances are quite slim your school random actually gets solved. Even if there is some kind of a reward system. It comes down to the fact we don't have enough people.. There are only a few hours a day when there are a bunch of people online. So even if everything is set-up it might take like 6 mins before one picture actually gets processed by a user. Meanwhile you must hover your mouse over the RS screen, randomly right clicking to prevent logout. Won't that be suspicious?

Well I think it can totally be done.

Hell alot less suspicious than logging out every time you get the school random, and you seem to forget that this is an international community, and you don't really get millions of the school randoms anyway so I think the timezones would deal the problem of people not being online, It worked all fine for Sleep questions, why would there be less people online around clock and around world now ? And yes, you got LOT more fatique 100%'s than what you get school randoms. On sleepwalker it only took minute-two to get your fatique solved If time hasn't turned the memories into gold. So if the screenshot was sent in crappy quality ( jpg ? ) it would prob take 6 mins to solve the whole random.

So I don't think there would be less people online nowadays than what there were back in the golden RSC days.

Thank you..!

@DaWu: This could work for the very reason that there are more people into "Cheating", around the world.

Lets atleast try this system?

The Claw

2008-11-02 18:29:16

But if Ray is right, what would be preventing us from logging out until someone is there to solve it, and then logging back in? It's just as suspicious as what we have now, except the random gets solved as soon as someone can do it so we're back autoing again asap. Either way works. We could even have If IdleTime > 5 mins then LogoutUntilSomeoneCanSolve.

TravisV10

2008-11-02 18:40:07

Okay I say we just attempt to solve the random.. It'll be better then this method.

Widget

2008-11-03 00:07:43

There's been at least two attempts by really talented scripters so far, and the questions change most times new content is released (for example, when they added some more pirate stuff there were pirate-related questions).

It sounds like a good idea, I just don't see how we could get it working over IRC, not to mention a lot of people there don't actually play rs :p

Theres no way to solve this with what scars color's can do.
This system was used in rsc to sleep, it didn't take long back then, I don't see why would it take long now, timezones will deal with the "no people online" shit.
Indeed, we have people from all around the world and this system seems now the best way to get it solved, if we wouldn't go deep into to the client, by hacking interfaces.

So I'd atleast give it a shot.

mastaraymond

There are several questions in this random and it'll take way more time than reading the word "boots" and typing "boots".. And only some people are active on IRC, many of which don't even play RS. Also I really can't be assed to solve randoms for some random leechers that don't contribute at all and I wouldn't even get anything in return.. It'd just lead to a huge wave of complaints such as "omg it didnt solve random it sux" etc. etc.

Wow pal, have you lost your skill to read ? You won't get yours solved unless you have solved for someone else, I told to not to post if you don't know how sleepwalker worked. YOU GET something in return, YOU GET your school solved, the times you've solved it for someone else.

i have to agree, i mean it would be much easier than just leaving it, and sleepwalker would only be needed for a short time, until it is solved, and reallistically, there are different time zones so there wouldn't be that many that need solving. most people auto while they sleep.

timer post it sooner much :P it would be good to give this a trial though i mean it's not like if we implement it it'll have to stay, and it could be something like smart you know like you use
LoadSleep(ircchannel, nick of person youd like to do it, run for _ random);
It would be good :P maybe not with those parameters though, and maybe release it to member+ for a while first, just to test…

Not actually HUGE, but yes, quite a big project, I think kaitnieks created it all alone, if my memories won't let me down. And what comes to me coding it, nah, got way too much school stuff to do it all alone, would take way too long time for me to code it. What comes to solver, are you fucking dumb, it can't be solved with colors, not atleast what scar is now able to do, or enlighten me if Im wrong, you think people haven't tried ? You go code the solver with colors then I'll do this alone ? Get the fuck out of my topic dipshit, SRL doesn't need cranksters like you, If you have nothing creative to say keep your mumbles down your stomach, thanks.

Just go make the solver then.

This idea is very possible to work and get rid of school random problems if we just get people actually to give it a try.

This sounds like an excellent idea. It could stir up some good stuff (and bad stuff) in SRL.

Pros:
Could solve randoms much easier.
Easy system
Maybe new friends

Cons:
Complaints
Not working
Crashes
Abuse
Nobody doing it

Just my 2 cents.

As addressed before, the amount of people we have is disproportional to the number of randoms that will need to be solved, at whatever times they will need to be solved. I see a one thing (at least) with this: Since you can auto all day long with a suitable army, the chances that you actually get the random at a convenient time is slim. It would be much easier to explain that you just didn't want to deal with the random than being logged in for 2+ minutes doing nothing at all.

Fix - If no body is active, just log out. When someone becomes active, find a way to get back to the account and then solve it. Multithreading?

I think its just too much trouble. I would just leave them in there.
