I've got money on Obama winning. It's getting closer than it was before, but Obama is still killing McCain in the electoral polls. It's looking better for McCain, but he's still down by a lot, and time is running out. Current polls say Obama will win with 375 electoral VS 163 for McCain. I'm pretty confident Obama will win. If he doesn't I'm losing money.

I think Obama will win, but you never know!
I read a quote somewhere that if McCain wins there will be violent 'riots' in the streets, but if Obama wins there will be violent 'celebrations' in the streets. (Kind of like idiotic people rioting when their team wins the Super Bowl or NBA finals????)
Same behavior, cloaked in the pro-Obama media spin we have all come to expect.

McCain has now turned this election into a referendum on Obama. You either think he's qualified, trustworthy, and has the same American values that you do, or you have to vote against him.
It also helps that he has finally settled onto one main message, (Obama's tax hikes/wealth redistribution) and that his message is related to the future of the economy, which is almost everyone's top issue now.

He's not saying that at all.
40% of all adults already pay NO income taxes.
He wants to take almost $100 billion per year from the top 2% who create 16 million jobs and transfer over $100 billion to people who don't pay taxes.
If he was saying we all pay in and share the burden, that would be one thing. But he's not, and never has. It's called "redistribution of wealth" for a reason.

I've got a reason.
1. We are in times of economic crisis, caused by sub-prime mortgage stuff in America.
2. The republican party was in power for the last 8 years.
3. In the minds of most people, that means the republican party was responsible.
4. McCain is a member of the republican party
5. Therefore he should not be in power.
you can see how much hurts McCain, he talks about the economy a lot, probably so try to dispel the impression that his party caused the crisis.
also, there are a lot of people promoting the idea that Obama is a socialist, trying to imply that means he is bad with economy.
also, there was the rumour started that Obama caused the economic crisis by passing a few bills that forced banks to give sub prime mortgages, and that McCain opposed those bills.
but i don't think anyone has mentioned this for a few weeks now, so i guess they realised its not effective or no one was taking it seriously or whatever.
you yourself might not see any reason, but most Americans can, which is why Obama seems to be winning.
from what I've heard, the explanation for this is that they are all stupid.

What? I dont get what you are talking about? I dont see how people look at the President's past as a story of triumph instead of a story of a "moron". The fact is this "moron" beat the "intelectuals" twice, the only reason it was close was because of the one-sided-ness of the media.
The Colbert Report? I watch that show (I get disgusted at times but it can be pretty funny), but the socialist candidate was right and wrong, Obama wants to turn us to socialism, you have to take baby steps not leaps. Using taxpayer money to cover the debts of companies is taking a step towards socialism, while he may not induce radical change it will be a radical change soon enough.

This is where the media comes into play, because you see, whatever the people hear is all they know. The "Media" (defined as MSNBC, ABC, CNN, CBS, NBC) influences the people greatly, and with them so in the tank for Obama it muddies the waters and they dont report some things and spin others. It is a FACT that republicans were trying to get more regulation on freddy/fanny, and the democrats shot it down, motivation being, they were profiting from it via campaign donations ect.

I do not believe the mass of America's public is stupid, just ill-informed. Obama didnt pass those bills, those were WAY before his time. It was Clinton who did that, the only reason it hasnt been brought up is because I have already tried to use that fact but you (among others) completely ignore it. Obama is winning because a lot of people are sheep, if you ever listen to shows like Sean Hannity they go on the streets of New York and interview random people asking who they are voting for and why they are voting for whomever, and most of the time it is for Obama and they are voting for him because of "change" and "he will be better for the middle class". When that is simply not true at all, it is the fault of the media for not investigating and reporting what they know.

The media is always for the Democratic Party candidate. Its pretty much a fact of life. There was a news article on the home page of Comcast yesterday saying "Studies show that the Media favors Obama" I mean they are just figuring that out now. I found that pretty hilarious. The media is always for the Democrats but they seem to really love Obama for some reason. I still have some hope that McCain will keep our country from complete disaster, not in what he does if hes president but keeping Obama out of office. And even in McCain somehow does win, ill bet now that Obama will be back in the '12 or '16 election guaranteed.
Just thought id throw this in even though its way old news, but its going to be the same way for the election and in every state. Question of the day: What's wrong with socialism?
It probably works well for most countries that currently use it, but it would be terrible for the US. The whole concept of America is freedom and a big part of it is the 'American Dream'. If Socialism comes along, no more American Dream. Come to think of it, if Obama inputs his tax thing (take from the hard-working wealthy and give to the middle class and people with no jobs), the American Dream won't be what it is now.

Wanna know the reason for foreclosures and banks going bankrupt? The high interest rate. You see with 20% of your income going to taxes, you dont have extra money to buy a new car or a new house without takin a loan. And when you take a loan from the bank you get no-were. Yes you got what you want but your going to be paying for it a whole lot. If the banks/feds were not greedy then life would be much easier.
Say you wanna buy a new Acura. It costs 17k. Those 17k went to taxes. So what you do you go to the bank. The bank slaps you double. They give you 17k and you buy the car, but you have to owe back the bank 34-40k. They wont lend you 17k and you pay an extra 3k more or something. So I dont see the freedom here. Were banks and feds controlling everything.

Have good credit and you wont have to worry, it was Sub-Prime mortgages, which means, mortgages to people with low wages and who haven't prooven to be good for it(as in paying the banks back). It wasnt wall-street's fault for "being greedy" it was the peoples fault, and the government's because they forced the banks to give people sub-prime mortgages. I would say more the government's because they started the vicious cycle.

@kingarabian
Consider yourself lucky if you/your parents pay just 20% income tax. My parents pay about 40, and Obama wants to drastically raise that on us. == Not fair. Btw - My parents are doctors. I'm assuming all doctors pay about this much now and will pay much more if Obama becomes president. Soon, it won't be worth going through all those years of Med School and residency just to be getting a job where you get a good salary, but give over half to the government. Less doctors = higher healthcare costs. Now, Obama wants the government to pay that. Therefore - higher taxes.

I think that McCain will win, but Obama will be the President, hopefully the ACORN effects will be reversed but i doubt it. I do think its funny the past 2 elections republicans have won without the state with the most electoral votes.
It also is kinda funny that in the days when racism was rampant in the south were the days when the Democrat's controlled them. Yet black people follow Democrats en-masse (not all mind you, but the majority). It really is sad because Democrats know that if you want to have power you have to have people below you and have them rely on you. So they promise all of these social programs to make them reliant on the government.
All of this stuff is very elaborate and i think highly intelligent on the Democrats part, but the ideas they preach are impractical and intend to keep people opressed.

Why do all the pro-McCain posts suddenly calling everyone else ignorant/brainwashed? Obama plans to pay for his new programs by getting rid of useless government-funded programs, I'm pretty sure he's said that on all three of the presidential debates, but it's not like any McCain supporters would watch that.. Also, isn't Obama just raising taxes to pre-Bush times? It's not that severe…
Why does everyone keep calling Obama Socialist? "Baby steps" my arse, Socialism is NOT the same as a Communist Totalitarian Dictatorship, get it through your head.

Because it is true, the majority of americans have been tricked in a way into their way of thinking, by the mainstream media (please if you are gonna debate with me read my other posts and bring up something new). He is gonna fund his programs with "useless government-funded programs". I have an extreme idea! How bout, we get rid of those programs, and dont replace them with anything else!
He is raising them to pre-Bush times he will not increase taxes so to speak, but he will not renew Bush's tax cuts so taxes will go up. Bush's tax cuts have prooven to be extremely beneficial to our country, our economy has been doing extremely well despite major setbacks. So raising taxes to "Pre-Bush" times will not be horrible but keeping the tax cuts would be better for our country…
Did anyone say they were the same thing? The point is it would proove to be disasterous for our country.

You're missing parts of my point. I said that people are acting like un-lowering the taxes to pre-Bush times has nothing to do with socialism. Not only does McCain try to link it to socialism, but he goes on to describe things more related to communism, which past experience shows doesn't work well (though never properly executed in theory, they were mainly dictatorships and those are guaranteed to never end well).
I think I've already said this before, but your arguments tend to be the "You don't know what you're talking about, you've been brainwashed by the liberal media/fact-checkers/presidential debates and such" kind. You've pretty much copy/pasted the entire McCain campaign, which even Fox News has called them out on, and they're definitely not liberal in the least. You go out on mainstream media, but conservatives tend to try to knock out non-mainstream competition, so I can't figure out how that works (lobbying ftl).
Unlike McCain, Obama was raised in a rather poor family. He had to rely on his brains and determination to get the scholarships to even get through college. I'm in a similar position (though from debt, not lack of money, my family's net worth is low regardless), but unlike him, I miss out on quite a few scholarships from race/income/IQ and it seems like it will be a lot harder to get a student loan now.

Have you not heard that Barack Obama said he wants to "redistribute wealth" thats pretty socialistic to me (possibly even communistic).
Fox news called them out on what? People seem to think Fox News is very conservative, it really isnt. There are talk shows that have to do with current events, those tend to lean towards the right (they still even try to get people from both sides of the debate ex. Hannity and Colmes), but their actual news reporting is pretty much in the middle, they try to interview people from both sides, question both sides pretty harshly.

I wasnt bluffing, I was joking, I wasnt trying an intimidation tactic…
The people living outside the US tend to lean towards the left as well… Foreign countries back Obama because they want to be in the limelight, they want to be the world power ;)
Do you know what his plan is? I was not aware he had written any major legislation… I personally think that we are almost done in Iraq, but it is stupid to put any condition of leaving a place we are needed other than winning, especially because we CAN win, its not like this is an unwinnable war…
Foreign Policy? Solid? *Thinks about that for a second* Are you talking about Obama? Seriously? Has he written any major legislation? Or served in an executive position? He wants to invade Pakistan, a nuclear country, thats pretty reckless if you ask me, especially as him being an inexperienced senator…
Okay, so you think it is okay to give people who dont pay taxes "tax breaks"? Your family is going through tough times and I am sorry, but being dependant on the government will do nothing for you, it is coming from someone else higher up the chain, and because of the taxes cannot employ people. Everyone is going through hard times, dont think you are the only one, but having the government come in and take over everything is impractical.

He no longer wants out of the Middle East. He used to want that, but now he's planning on leaving 80,000 troops in Iraq indefinitely, and escalating the war in Afghanistan. If anything, our total spending in the Middle East should go UP.
As far as his health plan, it's kind of a mess. It's based on HMO's, so there won't be any major cost reductions. And he won't cover everyone. And it will be extremely expensive. And he has said that he will fine people that don't buy health insurance, but won't tell anyone how much that fine will be, or who exactly will be targeted.
He has no education plan. At least none that matters. K-12 is where our system is failing, and he does literally nothing to address that. He wants to add 2 more years of pre-k, which would mean every child starts school at the age of 3. This is feel-good bunk. Studies have proven over and over and over again that pre-k has no lasting educational benefit whatsoever. It's free babysitting, nothing more. And then once the K-12 system spits out failed students, he wants to herd them into college on the taxpayer's dime. Utterly ridiculous and counterproductive.

Not only does McCain try to link it to socialism, but he goes on to describe things more related to communism, which past experience shows doesn't work well (though never properly executed in theory, they were mainly dictatorships and those are guaranteed to never end well).[\QUOTE]
"un-lowering the taxes"? I hear he wants to cut taxes 'For 95% of Americans' >_< He cuts taxes for the middle class, takes money from the harder-working upper class (not saying that the middle class doesn't work hard, just saying that, in most cases, the people with more money work harder/have worked harder to get to that point). That is definitely a start towards socialism
Unlike McCain, Obama was raised in a rather poor family. He had to rely on his brains and determination to get the scholarships to even get through college. And isnt it ironic how most foreign countries back obama? (it was a study on cnn.com/google it)
I'm not generalizing here, but my relatives in Europe, when asked about the election, usually say "I hope the black guy wins". When I'm in Europe (or at least Lithuania), it seems that quite a few people are racist and usually look down on the few African-….Europeans? there are as uneducated and stupid :\ Of course, as we all know, that's not the case. But, from that, I assume that they imply that since Obama is black, that he wouldn't make a good President, and therefore would make the US weak. Henceforth, they hope he wins and weakens the US. Again, I'm not saying that all Europeans think like this, this is merely what I've seen in my experience in Europe.
Or another theory would be that since quite a few European countries have a Socialistic government (I think?), they know what Obama plans to do and want the US to be like them, but that's probably unlikely.
LOL. Prematurely… I think obama's plan of getting the hell out of the middle east is pretty mature. I also like his health and education plans. His economy crisis fix plan is really good to. His foreign policy is pretty solid, cause in my opinion right now, bush's policy is fucked up.

I still fail to see your logic in leaving a country in chaos >_<
His problem with healthcare (I think I already mentioned it, not sure) -
Ok, so the government pays for all of it. Where does the government get this money? - Taxes. Now, the price of healthcare obviously depends greatly on doctors (how many there are, how expensive operations are, etc.). Most doctors make over the 250,000 that Obama would reduce taxes on, and therefore doctors would be getting taxed more. There would be less motivation for younger people to become doctors because it wouldn't be worth going through all those years of med school and residency just for an OK paying job. == Higher healthcare prices == Higher taxes.
If Obama could get all of this money for stuff (Healthcare, New energy, etc.), I'd be amazed. Furthermore, if he was to do that AND cut taxes AND start paying off the US's debt to other countries, I'd be twice as amazed. But to get all this money solely from removing governmental programs that have no use? Not going to happen. If you could get all of this money from just doing that, don't you think somebody would have done it long ago? This just indicates how inexperienced Obama is.

its probably good for you since you drive a car, and food is brought to your town by lorries which need petrol, and you fly around in planes and use electricity.

Do you live in Houston? Thats really no suprise, that or Austin, omg i hate Austin…
Sorry if this was late, just wanted to explain about the dropping oil prices.
The 'Credit - Crunch' which was caused by people, who borrowed lones from the bank they couldn't afford to pay back. Now their in debt they dont have any money to spend on fuel to go to work. Inturn they get made redundant.
Nobody is worrying about petrol there more worried about their finances. This leads to Demand dropping. The two factors which causes prices to drop are Supply and Demand. In this case, as Yakman mentioned, Supply is high as Saudi Arabia put millions of oil barrels onto the market. What the problem is - No one wants or needs to buy them, basically they have no money.
In summary Gas prices being lowered were due to the population just not needing it anymore. They have got more things to worry about like losing their home and job e.t.c.
Also Obama is going to win, I'm in England here - election night. Obama's got it in the bag :)

Alright since today is the day our country might be doomed, id like to vent on Obama for a little.
1. Obama grew up in a church that literally said "Damn America!"
2. Obama doesnt put his hand over his heart during the National Anthem
3. Obama, at least ive never seen, wears an American pin
4. His full name is Barrack HUSSEIN Obama
5. Obama is a socialist, his wife is a communist
And another thing. Our troops over seas might be getting screwed out of their right to vote. The now more Democratic Congress will most likely not pass John McCain's demand that the US troops votes be counted even though the absentee ballots were late being sent out. This is just another scheme by the democrats because it is a fact that the Marines are more likely to vote for McCain, the more patriotic Candidate.
I was more fair before today, but today im going all out, because tomorrow i might be moving to Australia lol!

Wow… is all I have to say. Im glad america showed it would vote fairly =). I was thinking mccain would win because of the "bradly affect". But hehe, here we are.
Yeah, all we heard about for days after the last two elections was "election fraud" and "diebold" and "voter suppression", etc.
But today you don't hear any of that. When a Democrat wins, the system worked. When a Republican wins, there must have been some sort of fraud or unfair manipulation going on. It proves once again that Democrats are sore losers. Let's hope they aren't sore winners now.

When anyone wins by a landslide, the system worked. When the election depends on one state who's votes are within 0.1% of each other and the Republican supreme court overturns recounting it because the Republicans won, then there may have been some sort of fraud or unfair corruption. ;) (Not saying it's just the Republicans, the Democrats haven't seen a situation like that as far as I know of). McCain's ACORN affiliation propaganda was just another failed scare tactic that lots of people still bought (ACORN registers people that otherwise wouldn't be able to. They go around in lots of poverty areas and people attempt to try to register other people, but they're all sent to some special government agency to check if they're proper registrations, just like everyone else in the country).
Also, I thought the Bradley effect would show up more, but it's almost as if more people voted for Obama instead :p

Popular Vote being overruled by Electoral Votes is complete phale.
Give what the people want, not what ~300 people want.

Because your saying the majority of the "black" states are in the south. What else is in the south? People who actually love their country…
If by people who love this country you mean racists who have not caught up with the times then you are on point.
I bet Obama will win.
Nah jk.. Now I'll just watch as USA crashes and burns.. That's some change.

How? It is a beautiful system that protects the less populated areas (to some degree) and the populated area still has power.
I tell you what system is "phail" is the primaries, im sick of this east coast liberal bullshit, it shouldnt have been McCain in the first place, he is a good man and i supported hiim but only because i really had to, but i did agree on a lot of issues. He isnt who the "base" of the republican party wanted so all of the more liberal republicans chose him. But whatever, now its time to take the house or senate in 2010 :p , congrats Obama.

Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous that Iowa and New Hampshire are deciding who's going to represent the Republican party.
Mitt Romney should have been the nominee. With this financial catastrophe, Romney would have wiped the floor with Obama on experience, knowledge, and proven competence. Oh well, there's always next time.
If the Republicans start moving in the Palin/Huckabee direction, they may never recover. The last thing they need is to embrace socialism-lite like them.

Why they went there in the first place was beyond me.
