Would you guys like a script form that would have a list of the best tutorials and they would be categorized and such? It would be updatable via the web.

It wouldn't be very easy to update it.
And some people's opinions of the best tutorials vary.
So, nah.
But it would be helpful.

Why not just write up a list?

You would be able to download the script. And it would update in real time (using TTimers). You'd also be able to make your own favorites list. And you could import other people's favorites list also.

In that case, you might as well have a PHP page as it would be better suited. Making a Script like that in Scar is overkill and wouldn't have any benefit over having being built in PHP especially as most of the stuff would go through PHP anyway. Also, you would either have to parse all the tutorials or just put them up yourself, with the second being quite time consuming and the first difficult if you do not know what you are doing.

i find it ironic that mixster is talking about stuff being overkill :p.
It all depends on how you do it. You could do it will not lots of php, or you could do it with lots of lots of php. Though i do agree it would be easier in php and you could add somemore things that you can't do in SCAR, but its very well possible in SCAR and i dont see why you shouldnt :).
(though now that you suggested it i very well may try to do it myself (but im not going to do it in SCAR since i can see some advantages of doing it in php :p)

PHP script would own. ooh ooh then a RSS feed! YEAH!
But really… I think a list of the script and the most recommended / updated ones marked etc. would be very helpful. There isn't anything like this that is maintained enough.
have like
Category, Script Name, Recommend Level, Updated Frequent (how often), Still works, etc.
Or something like that. I thought of doing a post like this, but a automatic system or a system that can be maintained by a bunch of people would be far more reliable.

Hmm, I might do this. We might get someone to add it to vBulliten like when creating a tutorial it would ask that data. Have it ordered etc. And we could create a rss feed for it too narcle ;).

I might dive into this further once I get my work schedule figured out etc. I need something to make me want to learn php to actually learn it heh.

all of the above should be easy…the entire thing should be relatively easy, and once its done it wouldnt need any maintaining. The only problem is finding the new tutorials, especially if someone changes the name of one. I was also thinking of making it show the tutorial on the page to save having to navigate back to the tutorial website to look for another on.
