This is my first ever go at a signature / render image so please dont crucify me

Good job with your first signature. I'm not a big fan of it's size, I think you could go a lot bigger. You didn't really do to much, play around with the blending options, add a border, maybe some text. If I were you I'd go and read some tutorials, then make changes to them to learn how things work.

Here's one of my first sigs.
All I did was use brushes and make things glow. A really simple sig and all I was doing was playing around with things.

Wow thats awesome! But how do i make it bigger. On ps it is 340 X 125 which i was reccomended i do. And no matter how much i made it bigger, on here it was always that size

I like that a LOT better. That guy makes me think of that witch woman from the Dark Crystal; scary as fuck. The text is kind of hard to see but it's grungy look suits the render. I personally think the type of font used is very important. The sig could look completely gorgeous but if you have this ugly font in there it's really going to stick out.

Work on the colors, that light purplish != ( <> ) Gears of War…

thats why i did it, to sorta soften how scary the character actually is but it seems people didnt get that :(

I liked the darker one better, the character doesn't seem to fit all too well to the lighter background :p

The colors don't match the render.

Pick a light color off of the render for the foreground color.
Pick a dark color off of the render for the background color.
