It passed the representatives. DOW dropped 370 points when they started to vote on it. It bounced back and it at -120 points or so now.

Any thoughts on the bailout bill?

Great time to buy stocks right now I suppose :)

IMO they shouldn't have done it, but oh well.

It had to be done.

The market was so spooked that Harry Reid merely mentioning that a big insurance company was on the brink of bankruptcy caused a massive sellof of the entire insurance sector.

It's disgusting that a $700 billion bill ended up being $850 billion because of all the pork and earmarks attached to it. Washington truly sickens me sometimes.

What about when it comes time to pay it back? This will take a while..

I don't think it should have been done.

I disagree with their decision totally but hopefuly some people who need cash will make some money out of this (stock market)

The bailout wouldn't be so bad if there was competent people running the banks ect. However, if that was the case then we wouldn't be in this situation to begin with.

We are just throwing money down the drain, the economy is going to crash sooner or later, and all this bail out did was make it to it will suck that much more when it does crash. They are trying to get us out of a hole by grabbing shovels and digging faster.

This should be interesting… Atleast when it comes to those more or less ignorant americans bragging on the internet how their country is the best, richest and only good place in the world :p

Richest, yes we are that, Best place? thats debatable.

Heres the problem, Many, MANY markets of different countries are very heavily tied into the American market. If the American economy does bad it won't just effect America, it will effect the entire world. Countries like Japan for example have a lot riding on the success of America.

Must there always be a European trying to say that the USA is bad, and that it is full of a bunch of ignorant idiots?

i think it was the right choice, but im a little worried that it won't actually do what its supposed to do, just because i dont know the exact extent of how badly we were doing.
