As some may or may not have noticed, ScarScape is (I think, at least for me) broken.

I was wondering.. Who would pay for ScarScape if it became pay only?

I would, because it would greatly improve the accuracy of my DTM's (>.<)

What's wrong with your accuracy of DTM's?
Is it because of the mini map rotating?
Just add some Area size and tolerance.

Who needs SS when you've got SMART?

I would not. It has been free, and it should stay free. BTW, it is a better challenge with out it. (Using the acctual RS client)

My computer can't run SMART, so yeah.

About the DTM's. I said DTM's, not DDTM's. For some reason, the colors are terribly inaccurate with the RuneScape window. THAT'S why I want SS.

You can add Areashape to normal DDTM's too?
For the colors, just add tolerance.
And could you tell us the problem you are getting with smart, maybe we can help? :)

Same as everyone - Computer sucks, gets stuck at 80%.

Got it to work once, but then it phailed.

Besides, I think Sythe deserves some payment for the great job he did on SS.

If this works it will really make your day! This problem used to happen to me until I changed a something.

This is what I heard from someone, "if you change the signed boolean to false it will work!".
So now try this

Smartsetup(prefix,true,false,false);//all i did was change it to false for signed.

Yeh why would anyone pay for ScarScape if we have smart, unless you are lazy on getting RadialWalk and that stuff getting to work, I would be lazier to pay :p

If it wasn't ******* detectable, wasn't useless due to reflection, and wasn't ******* easy to make, and if I actually wanted to pay for RS besides for p2p, maybe.

I would absolutely not pay.

However, I do think that the community should collect a donation if we wanted to support it. But it shouldn't be a Pay-To-Get deal..

I wouldn't pay for it at all, prehaps if it was a "week free" thing, then if I made any money from botting using it, I would pay a small amount of the money I made, I'm not going to invest in it though.

Did the thing I posted earlier work for you? Cause if it did we could end all of the bickering very easily.

Not at home, so yeh. And believe me, making the client unsigned doesn't work for me. I've tried (I lost like 5 hours of sleep over it the other day >.>).

You guys really think that Sythe should just put all this work into something for us, and that he deserves no payment at all? He's right.. Freeloading to the max O.O

I did not intend to turn this into a flaming thread. I was simply asking for a yes or no answer, and maybe some explaining why or why not. Not some huge argument over Reflection. I don't want to hear another thing about it. I'm sure there are reflection flaming threads elsewhere (sorry to those SRL members this is directed towards, but this isn't the right place).

O also so I am not spamming random smart stuff on this thread, I don't think that I would pay for ScarScape because I don't auto much anymore, I just script and the scripts im working on don't need SS.

I woulsn't use scarscape, I script with smart included, if I couldn't do something without using SS it'd just make me try harder to get better till I got it, I don't think there's much of a point to SS, just use either R.S. regular client or smart. Plus I think I remember hearing a while ago SS is detectable not sure if it was/still is detectable.

I would do the same as Baked. I wouldn't use it, so I could make myself a better scripter.

yea exactly, and SS isn't detectable? ok well I still wouldn't use SS I'd rather learn how to script better, obviously if your scripting for SS you have free time, why not just take a little time out of scripting and learn how to do whatever you need SS for in a normal client? that's my point, and I'd rather be able to use any client anyway then be dependent on SS, so no I'd never pay for SS.



[offtopic] Was SS ever detectable? because I'm pretty sure I heard a while ago like couple months ago when I used to be active that it was detectable but I don't know, it is possible the source was wrong, or that I never heard this and just thought I did [/offtopic]

SS was never detectable.

People like to make lame excuses for it being detectable, only because they don't use it themselves.

For scripting purposes, it is win.

I have never tried scarscape but Scar with SRL and SMART cover all my needs so I would have to say no.

SS is the creator evan said it was, i moddified the client.

Scar scape is detectable because it modifies the client to sop the colors from changing. This is a bannable offence stated in the rs rules so i wouldnt use it.

It is detectable , you may not of been banned but it is.

ScarScape is a MMC (Minimal Modification Client), so it's no more detectable than the RuneScape client.

I find it ignorant to resist advance. When it was decided that SMART, with it's reflection capabilities, will be released to the public, everyone in the topic agreed with that we will fall behind if we will force to stay color only.

A succesful compromise was that SRL will not officially support it, and maintaining it is on the responsibility of it's users.

Please do not use the complexity of RadialWalk as an argument. You didn't do RadialWalk yourself, it doesn't matter to you how complex it is.

You see, some people find an algorithm interesting, some find studying of the structure of the Runescape client interesting.


Build a reflection walking method, including all the Java all the way from finding the correct field, to hooking it, finding that you have to substract the BaseX and Y from the Position coordinates, and then using magic to get this information from a C++ / Java program to SCAR.


Build a walking method similar to RadialWalk, learn to make such algorithms and to implement SCAR plugins.

In the end, these two are quite equal in my honest opinion.


So, no bitching about reflection being so much easier, unless you have big problems remembering parameters for radialwalk.


With due all respect to Wizzup and other participating to creation of RadialWalk on any stage of it.

I never argued that SMART was bad or that Reflection was wrong. I quite enjoy the accuracy that both provide. I agree that it is quite ignorant to resist change, especially in a good manner. Nothing works well if it stays the same forever (Look at our current financial situation - Bush).

I'm not sure. I reformatted yesterday, with Media Center Edition (First time reformatting). So hopefully it will work now. It was probably too laden with stuff, so was lagging SMART down.

I haven't heard one positive thing about SS in this thread yet, except what I've said. Do you guys really dislike it that much? All I've heard is bitching, like how SMART is so much better (which it is, in all honesty), and how SS sucks now (I don't think so..) I haven't heard one:

It's people not clearing their cache's and autoing incorrectly that gets them banned, not SS.

Just thought you might want to know this. Don't delete the cache often becuase a normal player would never touch that so if they see it was removed they will think your an autoer.

Prove to me SS is detectable, by speech or text of a JaGex moderator or administrator who said that they themselves detected it's presence or ability to run and/or modify RuneScape's java.

Well back in the day SS was THE thing to have. It was sooo much easier then using the regular RS client, but now it's worthless and they should let it go.

i would not pay for scarscape because for one thing I don't have the spare money I am taking my girlfriend to eagle eye and I have to still pay for homecoming (and I am not that big of a nerd) no offense.
