Why have so many of our members stopped scripting for RS or even stopped scripting at all? I dont get it, if you have stopped RS script please tell me why, and if you havent, possible reasons as to why…

I'd say the RWT update as well as the PKing update left a lot of members without the means to continue scripting. I think a lot of us scripted and autoed in order to transfer items and gold to other characters, and that's been severely hindered by those updates.

I still stick around, though, because I enjoy the community still and still try to script every once in a while.

Well, to be honest, the only reason I am here is because PHP, Javascript, HTML, etc. are just too simple. I like the challenge of SRL.

But other then that, botting has really become less popular and I can see why so many people left. Hopefully Jagex will bring back uneven trade and PKing. I think the community is actually doing well considering how much harder it is to transfer money.

like other said, its all cause them gay updates.

Well take Waddo for instance (sorry dude lawl) but once he became a member he didnt release a single script, and neither have i for that matter, wouldnt the updates effect the USE of the scripts rather than the actual making of them?

Pking Update, RWT Update is what stopped me from scripting. Including 2 of my ownage main's being banned but that didn't matter much.

There should be a rule XD.

Either write scripts of some kind, or functions. :)

Well, I used to script be4 the gay updates.
Then i stopped for some time.
So now i redid my scripts, but well, i wake up every day at 6 am, then go to school, after school to guitar, volley, working out, or 7 times a week, i do athletics in town(15 kms from my home). I come to home at 9 pm. I study, then it's 10 pm, and when do i script, at night? I would probably die then cuz of the overload.. :)
That's why I don't script anymore, but if i can find 3 free days, I'll make something for sure.. just for private, if nothing big, because i love scripting. :)

I was an active person in SRL Forums for quite a while. I made several scripts and even helped on one of the revisions. I got my membership, was active in IRC, but the reason I left is that RS is not fun anymore. Scripting for RS was, in part, a lot about using my scripts in RS. I also scripted because I enjoyed scripting. But if no one uses the scripts, a lot of the enjoyment of finishing them is taken out of it. I am just here today because I stop in every once in a while to see how the forums are doing. I probably will not be on to see any responses to this, but hey, this is the best I can do to relate why I am no longer active.

I was never here for the pixels. RuneScape skills and 'goldcoins' is nothing to me. I scripted for the thrill, the experience and the feeling of rebellion.

I stopped because I lost interest, started learning Java and started playing World of Warcraft again.
And now, with all this TPA (Never understood) and reflection (Can't really script for it), I'm hopelessly behind. And even if I ever was to start making scripts again, it would take a long time and a shitload of willpower to get me up-to-date.

I haven't stopped scripting. Everything i write just never works… I lost my touch. If someone would like to be my scripting buddy to do projects with me, that would be great. I personally hate scripting solo…

Sure some people are just busy, but a lot just moved to other things too… The updates hurt it a lot, but personally i am thinking of making money on accounts and just selling the accounts with the money on it :p

Yeah i agree, i make scripts for me, and if i think other people will use them i release, but yeah i see what you mean

Well that is something you will have to get over for the better of the community ;) I noticed that when i moved from my first to my other scripts…

All i have to say, is RS is boring. Its to much of a baby game, so no point of scripting if i dont play.

I don't play it at all, I like the challenge of scripting and knowing that I can make something better, and just trying to make something as undetectable and productive as possible.

The only legit playing I do is getting my army equipment when they need it, or moving them to a location.

runescape is boring so what is the point really

The things that really bugs me is, that when people leave they make a big teary thread that they have to leave and 95% of the time this is what they say….

Omg, you can have a big life out there and hang out with your Gf and come on Srl i mean some nights after school i might hop on and write a few functions for my script ect, and then go hang out with my mates, i mean its not hard 2 do both.

I have a life, I do many things extra-cirricular with school, as well as three University level classes in High school. I am with my friends, A LOT. My girlfriend more. I play three sports, work 25 hours a week.

I still script…

But, not everyone can do that so I should have respected that. My apologies :)

thats not really what im talking about, i mean, if they were inactive for a while and then unable to release a script and then demoted, if they came back to notice they were demoted they would be like "i dont have time for this shit" and prolly never come back

Completely true. Or what that post also said if they weren't posting scripts or functions. I would be on the forums a lot, but not making scripts. Then those people would get demoted.

IMO people should be able to be a member, and prove they can script, and be active, but be able to just post on the forums. Be able to just be a member of the community.

rs is a stupid game. I personally like the other uses for SCAR.

Right now I've got a shit load of things keeping me from doing scripting, but I stopped working on my scripts and projects a while before now.

I guess it comes down to lack of motivation. As a Junior Member I had a firm goal, I wanted to prove to myself and to everyone, that I wasn't awful at scripting by becoming an SRL Member. Back then I spent hours upon hours reading tutorials and scripting. I finished my first really well working script, and submitted it more for feedback than membership, but I got in.

After a while of being a member I just thought to myself "Now what?" I reached my goal, and I don't believe I have what it takes achieve anything more. After being a member and learning some I currently believe that my member application was total garbage, and completely unworthy of SRL membership.

So I guess I just have no motivation to do anything.

I say as long as they have contributed. Just because someone is inactive or hasn't scripted in a while, doesn't make them any less an SRL Member.

@richk1693- I feel the same way. I'm just busy now with school.

I waste my time by making a script, then at about 500-800 lines I just think "Meh, gotta get some coke" and close the script without saving because I know otherwise it'd be there next year too…

Became member today so i cant really judge, but i can understand reasons why. I think it is a sort of balance. People become members, script for a while and then slowly move on to new things. Then new people are coming and learning to script and are taking there places. We just to need to help and support them as much as we can.

I think it is because the holidays are over, school has started. It is a busy period.

In general I think "the problem" is getting older. They're passing the RS stage of life :p That is why we should keep on getting fresh members :)

Well I love this community but I don't like rs. I respect jagex but I don't like them for their stupidity. I still script and this community is still cooler than other boring things. People need to balance the time in their lives.

I agree as well, but I have passed the "RS stage" i just like scripting lol, i hardly ever play RS

Nava2: Please do not try to push such a rule into everyone's head. If you can't see the counter productivity of it, well…

Oh, and I'm not scripting anymore because I happen to be using Linux and I don't have a usable Windows machine. Even when I had one, though, I could never make something that worked. I can only program in something like C.

nielsie thats probably the most accurate post on this thread tbh i mean i played rs for over a year got my first main banned (by playing legit :P) and then i just stopped it just ended up with me stood at the ge for hours till i logged out waiting for something to do and now i just macro lol but i love scripting its actually the most challenging thing i've ever attempted everything else comes easy.
but i guess people just find it as a hobby they can give up on :/
