New SCAR Tracking idea

OKAY, I had a brain storm after having Facebook send me a message to my phone.

Make a plugin for SCAR that can send status updates to your phone!
Make it like a mobile version of tUcos! There are ways to send free texts over the internet, so link it to that somehow.

Then set it up so if you reply "[example letter]" it executes the command registered to that letter kinda thing.

You can send SMS messages via e-mail. For example, a Sprint customer would be 8156217916@messaging.sprintpcs.com (not my phone, semi-random example). So basically you just enter your phone number and your phone provider and it can use some random PHP script with a GetPage to send updates :)

Ehm… Jason2gs made a SMS plugin once ;)..

But it's kinda country specified..

Ya, it would work for the US but other countries would probably have to find other ways.

Well what if in the plugin you just set it to have various different countries with the various service providers etc and you country. So in the script you would call a setup procedure like this or something…

SetupSMS('canada', 'telus', '6047989933', 2);
(Random phone number)

So then it would route it to the proper sites.
And the integer value in there that I just thought of would be the level of reporting you want… like if you just want when a player is false, or every event etc. And in the script you could set various amounts of info to be sent depending on the level set. So make that part partially script side.

This is all coming out in a random jumble I'm sorry if you don't understand :p

I think everyone gets it. It's a good idea. I think it could work if someone put time into it.

Yeah this would be useful now that I have a decent Cellphone. I've seen this on other various bot programs.

I might look into the SMS stuff, been bored lately. (other then regular scripting /yawn)

Its a good idea but its a lot of work, and would take quite a bit of time to make it work with a widespread amount of cell providers

EDIT: I just remembered how Jason2gs did it. He used telnet to send an email through the provider's sms gateway.

Basically you need 2 things:
1) Be able to send an email from any provider. Jason2gs used a telnet server provided by comcast, so only comcast customers could use the plugin, but there's other ways to send emails, they just might not be as simple.
2) Find the email addresses for the SMS gateways to all providers you want to support
2b) Add auth and make money for srl from it :)
