Solution to all unsolvable randoms!

Was thinking about this at about 7am this morning (having had no sleep), may sound crazy, but, I blame my lack of sleep.

Some of you may remember back in the rs classic days, once you got to 100% fatigue, you had to sleep (which meant inputting a word), or you couldn't gain any experience.

We got around this by creating a system in which the community relied on each other. The client would take a screen shot of the word, send it off to a server, which then sent it to somebody currently at their computer, who would type in the correct answer to the word, which would be sent back to the server, and then sent from the server to the client stuck on the word, which would then input it and have 0% fatigue again.

It worked on a points based system, you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours. Ie, for the number of words you have input for somebody else, you can get that many words yourself while botting.

The system worked really well, and for those still confused because of my wording:

Client (Question?)- > Server (Question?) - > Person (Answer) -> Server (Answer) -> Client (Answer)

I was thinking, why isn't there a system for unsolvable randoms for rs2?

Maybe it could screenshot the current random/question, send it off, and the person send back the correct mouse co-ordinations to click on.

I.e., bitmap is taken, converted to jpeg for filesize reason, person recieves jpeg, clicks on the correct spot on the jpeg, that's converted into co-ordinates, sent back, and the correct answer is clicked.

Tell me what you think of this idea. Advantages, Disadvantages? Potential flaws? Am I an idiot?

Discuss.

Ehm that would be very slow and botlike i mean it's not just one click those unsolveable randoms it are many and it will blow the server + it will take like 30+ secs for each STEP.

Not bad idea btw, sounds familiar.

would be better if you got the people on the other computers to just log in and solve it.

Ah, Yes, like sleep walker…!

I think it should be re-created and added to a link like, helpbots.php… :p

In my dream, it would be instant. Would take < 1 second to take the screenshot and upload it, flashes up on the 'solvers' screen, he clicks it, 2 seconds, co-ords sent back instantly, whole process 5 seconds or so.

Aww yes Timer, Sleep Walker was the name =)

Such a long time ago now, 5+ years, Don't blame myself for forgetting it.

Would be a big project in scar, I was thinking something more like delphi =P

And, do I have you on msn? We can discuss the banner.

Why does everyone think of my ideas ad bad, and if someone else says something almost the same way everyone is like "YEAH NICE IDEA".

But yeah Sp0rk, this would be nice in SRL.

Good idea!, but most of randoms are already solved , like maze , ect there are a few not solved but they are possible with color based Srl… ive solved some with reflection but thats not a big deal… Srl will be able to solve them.

but heck its worth a shot if you guys can get someone to code SCAR or SRL to do that.

If it's any consolation to you, I think it's a bad idea no matter who suggests it.

Sp0rky, like Renax said, the community isn't large enough to handle this (Timer, he didn't mean knowledge wise. Making it would be pretty easy). Seeing as a lot of people auto overnight, there probably wouldn't be any/many people awake that are willing to do this.

Don't act like a smart-ass. If there if going to be a system, it will be made by skilled scripters like Renax. Perhaps sp0rk-eh can do something too, though.

Anyway, this has been suggested several times. The reason we didn't do it is because it simply isn't worth making, and can be easily messed with.

EDIT: I might just have the idea to the 'not enough active members to solve it…'
IRC-bot.

Daniel

2008-09-09 02:34:02

What if members be real smart-asses and provide the wrong mouse position? And there are other flaws too ;)

Sp0rky

2008-09-09 10:30:17

Well, dans, the client would return to the server if it managed to get out of the random, if it didn't, the server takes points away from the solver. A certain number of - points means a ban from the system.

Easy ! =P

Wow, well, your nice Wizzup?, whats wrong, you really think i couldn't do it? And… whats up with the attitude? (No Offense…)

Renax

2008-09-09 19:39:00

I never implied it couldn't be made, there is just a slim (zero) chance it could be maintained.

@Timer you really did come off as a wise ass.

Yea, i guess so, but the other wasn't necessary…

[-jesus-]

2008-09-09 20:53:39

There are generally active people on or around IRC, could just ask people in the channel to add "active random" to their highlight list or w/e the bot would announce when someone became stuck in a random. This could also help make srl/irc more active because people would need to rely on each other to keep their accounts running.

& @ Hy, your proposal was rejected because of the method in which it was thought of completing, didn't incl a client or the co-ords of the screen. If i'm wrong, excuse me since I didn't read the entire topic/it was awhile ago.

gerauchert

2008-09-09 21:28:54

Its a good idea in theory… but I still think the best way to get rid of the randoms would be to solve them via SRL and/or SRL + reflection.

Esteban

2008-09-09 21:52:54

This wouldn't work very well for the pinball random, with the switching camera angle, and the time delay for the person to receive and send the information.

bullzeye95

2008-09-09 21:55:08

Pinball is already solved, so it doesn't matter.

True, this idea just wouldn't work unless you could somehow create a 3D simulation program that would be updated in real time.

3D simulation updated in real time: Is it possible? I have no idea, but that's pretty much what it would take.

And if you made a system like http://www.srl-forums.com/forum/vaispy.php iSpy it would be fine during the day, at night maybe a few people like me whom have no lifes would solve it. Else, just go false.

Instead of thinking of how to make a system that actually requires something more than the normal autoing gear and reflection, try to work on Interfaces instead. If we get them working, we can solve any random we want to, people can post their own antirandoms and you can pick your favourite ones from the forums and implement them to the script you are using…

Last sentence was at the 99% chance Wizzup responds that SRL won't start using reflection to solve randoms :p

Last time I checked it isn't very hard to open your SRL's folder and edit it, and last I checked you don't HAVE to use SRL's anti-randoms.

Do we really need developers to hold your hand?

Unfortunately for some of you, yes.

Everyone has thought of this, and its a BAD idea, whoos to say that they dont just go to your gametab and drop your stuff, or try and get ur acc banned?

Even if you made it so that they couldn't, If you make your scripts right, you don't need this. Solving randoms using reflection would be far more practical, even if it has its down-sides

Well how about there is a reward system. Like everyone who uses the system pays gp or usd. Then everyone who sits there and solves the randoms gets paid. Then people would want to do it and there would be competition for doing it faster.

I could seriously help with this project if you want to do it with PHP. The hardest part would be taking a screen shot and uploading it. Uploading is generally slow.

It sounds like a good idea but I don't think there are too many people autoing right now. Prolly in a while when RS makes some updates to bring back some old features.

EDIT: And about them dropping your stuff, you cant view your inventory in some/all randoms, right?
