Do you believe in other beings? Why?

Do you believe in other beings, that are/can capable of what we can do (i.e Alien Intelligence). Now, i had said that since Aliens (any type of Alien), could be a microscopic form of life (e.g Bacteria). However, do you believe in Aliens that can be or are intelligent or more intelligent than us? If so, why?

The question really is, "Do you believe?". Also, don't provide us with some bullcrap from the Kuran/Bible, since in no way do they state whether Aliens exist or not. Even if it did, then believe that. The Bible/Kuran is not my magnificent source for all answers and questions to everything. Since surprisingly, though, the Bible/Kuran does not have one answer but many “answers” that often contradict one another (see this page for more information).

Well, for one, i definitely believe in Aliens since the Universe is a really big place and there has to be other beings out there. Take another example, get a texta (something that can rub off) and get a nice, big, spacious wall. Draw a dot in the center of that wall. Imagine that dot is the Earth and the rest of the space is the Universe. Now, look at the space around the Earth. Something else has to be out there, whether we have discovered them or not.

Well, here's the thread. Discuss this issue, debate this issue ;)

Also, here's a good website to prove a point that aliens can (are existing) exist.

There was a theory that the chances of other intelligence life on a different planet is 1/5000… And since there are so many planets, I would have to say yes.

It's kinda complicated but i'll look for it…

I say yes because it is simply ignorant to not believe that there is.

Most likely there is a high chance for intelligent life somewhere out there. The chances of it being smarter than us might be a small chance however, depending on the planet the lifeforms inhabit. Naturally on the planet Earth, climate changes occur and causes natural global warming, stagnant oceans, ice ages, etc… So if another planet were to have the same features as this one, and contain intelligent life, eventually the race will be wiped out from natural causes. But yea, I believe there might be "aliens" out there:D

Of course, Out of the Billions and Billions of Stars/Planets ect why would we be the only ones alive?

Drake's formula tell you anything?

N = R * f1 * n * f2 * f3 * f4 * L

Where R is the average rate of star formation, f1 is the fraction of stars with planets, n is the average number of planets suited for life, f2 is the fraction of those that actually develop life, f3 is the fraction of civilizations that can send signals, f4 is the fraction of civilisations that develop intelligent life, and L is the length of time such a civilization can exist.

if N > 1 then yes, aliens exist somewhere out there.

Any further questions? It would be arrogant to believe that we're alone. If they haven't contacted us yet, we're just too primitive to detect their signals. After all, aliens wouldn't communicate using light waves… they're way too slow to cross the galaxy in an appropriate amount of time (unless aliens prefer to wait 50,000 years for a message).

EDIT: Oh and btw, I believe SETI is a huge waste of time, computing resources, and money (investigating light signals??? WTF. It's like smoke signals vs. digitally encrypted satelite tv to the aliens). Instead, hook your computer up to folding@home to solve some real medical problems.

It has some points and purposes ;)
