Using a proxy to log into runescape is a simple and effective way to play multiple accounts at the same time. There are many ways to achieve this, and I will cover the methods that are beneficial to the majority of users. For a list of proxies, please use http://www.xroxy.com/proxylist.php?port=&type=Anonymous&ssl=nossl&country=US&latency=1000&reliability=9000#table. I have already sorted the list to the best possible choices for US proxies. There are also many other proxy sites out there, just Google them.
Using a proxy with Firefox
Manual setup - Simply go to Tools>Options>Advanced>Network and click on settings. Now Select Manual Proxy Configuration and enter the proxy settings in Http proxy (use any from the link provided). Select use this proxy server for all protocols. Press okay and restart Firefox.
FoxyProxy setup - FoxyProxy is a Firefox extension that allows you to setup a proxy. FoxyProxy offers many different benefits such as allowing you to setup multiple proxies, the ability to select different proxies while Firefox is running, the ability to disable proxies altogether quickly and easily, etc. To setup FoxyProxy, download it from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2464. Install it and restart Firefox. Now go to Tools>FoxyProxy>Options and click add new proxy. In the General tab, name your proxy whatever you want. In the proxy details tab, select manual proxy configuration and fill out the info from the proxy site (ex. hostname is 24.45.343.54 and port number is 80 - these are made up btw :p). Finally, in the Pattern tab, click on add new pattern. Select enabled, name the pattern whatever you want, make the URL http://www.runescape.com/*, select whitelist, and select wildcards. Now finally hit okay, close the FoxyProxy screen and you are ready to use.
