At the height of his Internet addiction, Ben estimated that he spent at least 16 hours a day surfing the Web.

"Days would pass before I would shower, shave or eat," Ben told ABCNews.com.

The college student, who asked that his last name not be used because of privacy concerns, said that he simply could not get off the computer.

Ben said he would play computer games until the sun came up and then sleep for a few hours during the day. Eventually, he simply lost interest in the world around him and flunked out of college.

My brother did this. Dropped out of U of Pitt first year, then dropped out of the local Penn State college. Sad…my dad is afraid I'll do the same, but knows I actually have been programming for years now, while he tried to just jump right into Computer Science without ever programming.

this is funny yet true, I have to admit I was once like that, play rs almost full time in summer, but I don't need rehab, scar can take over for me, and I can go out side walk for like an hour or 2 and come back…etc

See, but that's your summer, and I'm sure you're still in grade school.

These kids are in college, paying lots of money to attend their courses, and they just don't go and game or surf the web instead. Quite sad.
