What is Reflection

I've been kind of interested in it and searched around on the forums and google and couldn't find much about it except how to set it up, so my questions are:

1. What is is?

2. Pros and Cons of it?

Thanks

1. tuorial island has all the answers.

2.exactly the same as above.

wait i see if i can get you the tut

edit:

Don't know what reflection is?
Reflection is SMART's equivalent to the client hacking that RSBot does and whatever iBot/Nexus does to read variables directly from the Runescape client. Reflection does not modify the client and is therefore undetectable. Reflection currently allows us to flawlessly find NPCs and Players, get the mainscreen position of any tile.

As you've probably figured out, Runescape is made up of squares, or "tiles". The tiles are layed out on a big grid, and as such, each one has a coordinate. Using this, flawless walking becomes possible, and we can now embark on scripts that we've never imagined possible :D.

All this is made possible using BenLand100's SMART reflection methods and a little help from the RSBot creators (Speljohan and Quaters).

whoa thanks a lot, im excited to use this hahaha, i was thinking about this the other day, if there was a way to read incoming files from RS and have scar act on them according to what you want to do

I was just bout to post asking the saem thing (what's reflection). I haven't been here in a while and it sounds really cool, I wanna get a chance to learn how to use it and try it out, I'll probably be back more often in september when school starts so I'll probably learn then. Reflection seems like a great idea though.

Nobody seems to be explaining things fully in my opinion. Reflection is the ability to create, analyze, and manipulate Java class files. What we do is analyze all the Runescape class files and find fields based on pre-coded patterns. All that is left then is returning the fields. Depending on what the field is we just return it, or sometimes we have to do math to get the correct value we would like. All this can be found in the Runescape client.

This is like what we had in RSC known as Sbot. It was amazing, except the scripts were compiled jar files and a lot easier to script (not as much randomness if any) back in the days when jagex was even more stupid. Lol.:p

I remember the sBot :D Had so much fun with it, got me str to 99 but soon after that they made rsc p2p. But there were bad sides, it keep dropping my r2h. :D

well that makes sence lol thanks for the disruption:spot:

Quick question:
If I am reading this correctly, Reflection can detect NPCs on the screen by reading the java code and calculating its position on the screen. My question is, does this also apply to everything in Runescape like fishing spots, trees, etc.?

Yes, it does, if you get the hooks right.

This is very interesting, I don't quite understand how to program scar yet but this info is definitely gonna be in the core of my programming research.

Thanks dude thats a deeper explanation :) I really needed that… so reflection seems to be awsome… great I cant wait to test it :D

No problem, I'm hoping to help people

i had the same question, good thing some1 else asked for me :). Since reflection helps find NPC's and stuff….does that mean finding randoms is better with it?

Finding randoms is extremely easy with reflection. It's a little harder to solve them (plus we'd need to implement interfaces to solve some of them), but solving them is quite a bit easier than with SRL.

so srl is better for solving randoms and reflection is better for finding?
what would be better for a script to last longer?

At the moment, yes, SRL is better for solving most of the randoms. However, if interfaces were to be implemented, reflection's accuracy would probably make it more viable for random event solving.

Wait, if reflection can detect NPC's better then SRL, and SRL can solve randoms much easier, is it possible to merge them together and make like a program> Reflection/ SRL? to get both good random solver and NPC's finder…?

Bobarkinator

SRL doesn't want to do use reflection.

2008-10-06 16:39:27

oh, well it would be awesome if there was a program which would almost be like srl/ reflection but mixed into one….

so, with reflection, there is no need for colorfinding? and in that case wouldnt that make it less detectable?
