would it be possible? online poker

would it be possible to make an overlay bot for online poker that, given the right parameter's(algorithms) tell me whether i should push or fold on a hand?

ICM(independant chip model) is a system of push or folding at <14 BB which is the most mathematically sound system to date, however it requires extraordinarily complex maths in a short amount of time to properly use. and when you are a player like me who plays 9-15 tables at once, this is next to impossible to play completely correct ICM.
edit: im no good with anything outside of SCAR, hence why im asking

it is possible. but rather hard because of the math. i tried making a lil script to predict the possibilities of geeting various hands and just that was hard. but to make a good bot you'd have a lot of trouble if yu intend to include features for like bluffing n stuff.

try to find the math stuff first. that'll be the hardest, then the rest is a question of finding certain objects or text which compared to the math is extremely easy. press F1 inside of scar if you need help for the math and use google or something to find the algorithms if you can't do them by yourself

maths stuff is easy, i can do most of it off the top of my head given enough time, but when im playing >10 tables at once its kinda hard to do those calculations on the go.

i can already tell you the odds of hitting any hand WITH any hand, i can tell you all the algorithms, i just cant write the bot myself.

note: will be willing to pay $20 USD to anyone who can make this bot.
edit: as an addendum, if anyone is interested, i play poker at titan poker, i play SnG and cash games.
when playing SnG i usually just ride the wave of fish's going all in preflop on crap and other fishes calling, eventually knocking each other out. i continue this until im at about 14 Big blinds, then i start playing ICM.

when playing cash tables i play Short stack strategy(SSS)
currently my bank roll is at $250(started at $50 about a week ago)

i learnt how to play ROI poker(return on investment, basically it means that i learnt a system whereby i always make money if i stick to the rules set out in SSS and ICM) at a site called poker strategy, also where i got my $50 starting money(they give it to you for passing a quiz that a 10 year old could pass).

if anyone else is interested in playing poker too, feel free to use my referral link to sign up(in addition you will get me a $100 bonus for each person i sign up) and get $50 to start playing

yes, i am shamelessly advertising my referral link. however if you think this is morally wrong or whatnot, feel free to just use the normal poker strategy website and sign up from there(then i dont get the $100)

also: yes, i read the rules(hell i was here when they were first written) and i thought this would be better then putting it in my sig, beacuse i havn't made this thread solely for this purpose, and i have put it 5 posts down so that people randomly scanning threads wont be annoyed that some random is spamming referral links.

Ok first of all you weren't here when the rules were written lol? You've only been here 35% of the boards existence. But I was here when they were written :P lol. Sorry had to brag

But don't worry about the referral link, I think nothing is wrong the way you put it out there. Hell in my mind if we sign up there and don't use your referral link then its bad on our part. Why not help you out if were signing up there anyways, you know.

But if I learn good strategy and everything (i have no clue how to play poker at all right now) then would I be able to make a decent amount of money? And how much do we have to have before we can cash out?

Nope. Im pretty sure elemental elf has been here longer then you… I seem to remember a feather buyer right?

As with the poker. Not sure. The best person for that would be fly boy. He had this other script that played a similar type of game. Well not actually. But he is the man regardless :P

How you work out the maths is the hard bit. Not hard in itself. But if you are going to write out every equation manually its going to get ridiculous. You can try a huge long aligrothim but eventually it may just be better to write em all out manually.

The maths to poker is pretty hard, I tried having a think about what I'd have to do in my head and it just confused me:confused: .
Good luck to who ever tries.

play blackjack ;)

2008-09-02 14:35:09

Yeah, BlackJack, That should be easy, get the script to calculate what percentage the chance is of 'bust' - ing. But it should be much easier in your head.

Renax

all the proper plays of black jack have already been calculated, but creating a script to successfully count cards would be interesting.

You also have to detect the cards, if you want to be more precisely.
So you almost have no change to do it with scar because. it's to slow.

… is this for money?

If it is, it is (most likely) illegal according to the sites EULA.

No, but these people are more likely to go after you (I'd assume most courts would support the company) because you are, in fact, getting real money from them.

You should also note that a EULA or other terms of use are only liable to be followed if they are proven in court. A company cannot write laws with there terms of use (aside from obviously not going against that nations laws). I do not think it would be termed "illegal" to use software to automate a game.
