Hello Friends

I am assebmling a coding team for the MMO http://www.wurmonline.com with the aim to provide a free library of useful procedures to mimic that of SRL. If you have not tried this game before please give it ago, it is unlike any other MMO you have ever played.

A bit about the Macroing of this game:

There is Zero macro detection in this game.
The client uses arial size 8 font for all in game text.
This is a very "grind-heavy" game and so is a perfect target for macroing.
To stop macroers there is a fatigue system where if someone plays for over around 8 ours in a day they are prompted with a random multiple choice question to answer.

A bit about me:

I have been scripting on my own for a number of years for this game and have been involved in the RS community since RSCN under another name (which i don't want to reveal here). I am also the owner of http://www.wurmonline.co.uk which will be used to distribute the library amongst other wurm related projects.

A bit about the library:

This game is not very sophisticated and a perfect target for SCAR, however SCAR will have its limitations in writing code to walk, but i have that solved in another project. This library should be straight forward to set up and not need to be nearly as sophisticated as SRL. But some experienced coders would be welcome to help organise the library and influence its direction. I already have a couple of people working on other aspects of wurm from the MITB community so this is not a small operation.

You know what's kinda sad? This game has better graphics than runescape.

Anyways, I'll look into it too, even though I'm not that great at coding.

By all means try the game out first, but believe me it is a perfect target for SCAR all it needs now is some reasonably experienced SCAR coders to kick start the community by developing a library. If you need any in game help add me to MSN and i will help you out.

Some work in this direction has been carried out and is marginally successful. But to complement this i wish to develop a free alternative to macroing this game in the form of SCAR.

Its "co.uk" not ".com" …

i already have the rudiments of a library planned out but it really lacks organisation + my scripting style is horrible to say the least. I hope you guys enjoy the game, it is very difficult and confusing at first. Make sure you use the official wurmonline.com wiki to help guide you through your starting hours, otherwise it is very easy to give up on the game prematurely.

I know how bottable this game is i played it fro many years since alpha testing. Now that i own http://wurmonline.co.uk I am assembling a coding team to write a library fro the offical game at http://www.wurmonline.com. The library will be distributed out of the .co.uk domain. I am not an official member of the game development team in any way, im just a regular player with alot of experience and quite a few teams workign on different aspect of this game:

I have a team writing IRC related apps in order to remotely chat ingame -> think sleepwalker

I ahve a client dev team who are looking to remodel the cleint to make it easier to bot with etc

I ahve a packet bot team

I have a guy investigating potential openGL hax so that we can render objects at will in the game.


etc etc. This game is going under big revolution and i decided its time to open up a SCAR team for it.

I will be updating the main page of http://wurmonline.co.uk tommorrow morning. The current TBA tab is reserved for a SCAR section. I will also add the approproate boards to the forums. Be sure to sign up :D

Im sure the moving problem is very solvable. Just tell SCAR to click the character that is the arrow keys. Make a function to call those press' and at certain times hold them to make your character run. Although being able to locate and find yourself could prove difficult. The view on it is first person so yea. Unless there is a way to change that. Although i see MANY possibilities for this game and SCAR. I will probably start on this game and get an early start. Looks like it could be pretty big ;)

I can't get the game to run, I downloaded the Java thingy and launched. The bouncing ball preview thing came up, started loading, and boom, error. No idea how to fix.

I'll try the game and if I like it I may join the team :D

Yep. I'm a moderate enough scripter, so I probably can help.

I've got to see the game for myself first though.

I will be updating the http://www.wurmonline.co.uk website today in order to accomodate you all. But remember we are attempting to create a new library for a new game not just all code a way on our own little projects. Soi organisation is key, make sure you post all your activity into the forums so we know who is doing what and regularly submit code to be added to the library.

The game is very laggy and boring…

Yes unfortunately it is a rather high spec game and very intense on graphics cards. But for anyoen else with problems please paste me you console.logs in you game folder and i will try an diagnose the problem.

Wrong. One, I am absolutely sure that my graphics card is up to it. Just..

I qute from the wiki:

Most S3 graphics cards (E.g Savage/ProSavage/Twister) cannot run Wurm, but please add your card here if you can play Wurm with an S3 card

And guess what? I'm running a S3G card. No Wurm. I'm planning to get another graphics card anyway, see what I can scrounge up.

Yeah it lags heaps! My graphics card is a radeon 9250 pro, 128 MBs. I got a 1 gb ram, 3.00 ghz dual core… Yet it lags tremendously. I'm running on cable, so that's 10 mbs internet. I don't think it's the net, or is it? Or maybe the ram. Cause it runs on about 1.05 gbs when i check in task manager.


What do you think?

Lag has always been a problem in wurm. It is especially bad in the town where you start. Once you ahve completed the tutorial, move out of the town and your lag should improve alot.

prob your ram and gfx card they are not very good.

I'm gunna take a look at this I hope hey get macro detection its always funner with a chalenge.

They do have macro detection. Manual though, they have GMs flying overhead to see if you are macroing, and no, i'm not joking.

Sorry i am still prepping the website and i a have a bunch of IRL stuff to sort out but i should ahve it done by mid next week.

Seems like an interesting game, no worse than Runescape in terms of game quality, not that I'd actually be playing it. :p

I don't really know too much about scripting but if you say it'd be easier than scripting for Runescape, I say go for it.

Is there any real life money to earn on this game? Selling characters, gold or items?

not that I know of but it could be out there somewhere.
