So, me and Wizzy were talking the other day and I was telling him all the little things that annoy me about the forums. Like the little things that have fallen into disfunction due to lack of proper care.

SO here is your turn to add to the list!
(Doesn't mean it will be done….If I don't have the power to fix it I will hound the admins till they do it… I'm getting quite good at it :p)

SO anyways, post your input on how to clean up the forum and it will be added to the list. And I don't mean like New sections, new ranks, new stuff…Just cleaning and fixing up the old stuff.

Here is my list to far..

• Fix scripting section (Make all sections into "New release" instead of half and half
• Clean out scripting help section
• "New Posts" button from Homepage is broken
• Fix UserCP
• SRL bug report

• Page number mod

Fix the UserCP?

Scripting help shouldn't be cleaned up, the old topics can be a good resource for people currently seeking help. I mean, once when I needed help with DoorProfiles, instead of making a whole new topic I searched first and found the answers to my questions in the old topics. So they should probably stay

The bug report thing should be fixed. The problem is that Dankness is the only one who can fix all this.

I think Fawki? He and Dank are the leaders.. but then again, he's to busy right now;)

Fawk was the leader when SRL was at villavu. When we moved to srl-forums Dank became the leader. In other words, no Fawk does not have access the PHP part.

Indeed, that's what I was thinking of… it's not because there stands "retired" in the front of "leader" that he hasn't got any access to the PHP section of the forum though.

I think he doesnt, because dankness runs the server now and fawki didnt have the time to do the php. so he might have the details from ages ago, or maybe not, but i guess only he can answer the question correctly.

I think Fawk does.
Fawk and Dankness are the only Level one admins.

All we need is and ACTIVE level one admin who knows how to do this.
Also access to the CPanel from the our host.

Cleaning up Help section involves sorting… not mass pruning
I did start this but I ran out of time. Basically deleting problems people have asked about 10000 times ore just spam ones.

Basically what I did with the Tutorials Island section, but on a larger scale.
I think we should also do some sorting within the Help section. But that can be done later.

Edit: I just did a quick re-sweep of Tutorial Island and cleaned it up a bit more.
Deleted all the spam threads and Moved threads to correct sections.

It's actually summer, I think? But good initiative.

He suggested for every section in the tutorial island have an index in it so people dont have to search as much they can just read the index.

Then set all the sections in tutorial island so only mod+ can post, except for general section. Then all the new tutorials will be made in general section, then they can be sorted correctly and the index updated properly.

And also for the Scripting Help. We should make a new section called something like "Past Script Tips" or something, to move all the OLD USEFUL scripting helps to. And again, index it for easy finding. This section again will be Mod+ Postings only.

Yes we need a bit more order with the tutorials. I couldn't find out how to set up the SVN at one point. Its also extremely annoying having to scroll through pages of tuts to find the one you're looking for that has been pushed back.

Me an Nielsie have already talked it over and developed a plan of action.

Sorry for the bump but perhaps we could make a couple stickies for the SRL FAQ section answering frequently asked questions like how to setup scar/srl, how to setup smart, the 10post, 7 day rule, etc. The name of the section is pretty misleading, you go there hoping to have a list of FAQ only to see a huge number of threads with titles such as "Help me plz" and "WTF IT ISN'T WORKING"… its hard to search for answers in a place like that.

I will do that right now.

• How to setup SCAR and SRL for autoing
• What is SMART and how to use it
• Fixes for common errors
• The 10 post and 7 day rule and what its about
• How to become SRL Member - requirements, rule of applying, benefits.

Thats I can think of atm.
