I was all excited when the new graphic updates came out for runescape but now im not to sure, yeah your guy looks better when he runs and yeah those do actually look like walls now but it just isn't the same.

I have a 3GHz Dual Core processor, 2 GB RAM and 256 dedicated graphics card, my internet is pretty decent too, but it still lags a bit when playing the new graphics :( it also happens on my other pc which isn't as good but still pretty awesome, even other players have said about the lag like unable to do BH and stuff.


I liked the old graphics they felt more "gamey", now it feels serious when you play runescape. I must admit the full screen thing is quite a good idea but the graphics arn't epic enough in my opinion to warrant a full screen version.

In short; Graphics updates…are they good or are they bad?

i beleive its being slow because it has put the servers under strain. perhaps all of the others downloading it is causing this?

of course it is still the beta im certain that optimizations and fixes will happen soon enough.

personally i have good internet too (cable internet. i think its 1000-2000 mbs or somthing like that all i know is usually when somthings slow its there problem and not mine)
and ive got the hardware to run it all at highest possible settings.

but its going slow for me :P
so meh il give it a few days and see how things go.

also i might be able to get u a pic of a certain place. (if it goes 30 sec without crashing lol) just lemme know wich place and il see what i can do.

Using Print Screen to take a screen shot in full screen mode doesn't work, it remains in the fullscreen's interfaces, but size goes smaller and tabs get fucked.

Yeah i've also seen some icon glitches, like the rune full helm has a red plume but its icon doesn't.

And the High detail looks really cool :D

people didnt quit cause graphics it was all about pking. they are trying to replace graphics with Wilderness EPIC Fail…
makes me mad still today.

I tought they would've been more impressive.

I have to say that i was kinda like you, i was excited to see the new graphix update. but when i actually played it, it was eh… i noticed when walking it more looks like my guy was hobbling. They are getting some where but i don't think they are there yet. I mean they showed on the Runescape news what the original head looked like then a new update did to it. well if you look at the equip menu, your faces is all retarded. and not just that, but the items in your inventory are not even updates looking. they still look like 2d clip art. unless they are going to update that as well. idk, kinda dumb.

Another note i was even thinking whn they announced a new graphix update, i was wondering if it was going to keep the membership the same or how much they were going to raise the membership. well i guess they are raising it, about $1 more. unless you have a current membership and do not cancel it you will still pay $5 with a credit card. and it will be unchanged unless you cancel and resubscribe.

dumb… oh well.

I think the game looks nice, but as with everyone, the lag blows. I can't afford a nice computer like some people can but my comp does what it needs. They needed to keep the low detail *exactly* the same as it was before because my computer handled it fine but with this update it lags a ton.

I am also pissed because it messed up the walking for my script because they changed a ton of stuff in al kharid.

they look nice, but because i have a slow computer it lags more. so im indifferent

I like the graphics update but at the same time hate it since it's only a beta, but also like it cause of that. They need to fix the lag, that a big one, with all the graphics turned to high and anti aliasing to 4x it looks really good. The fact that in fullscreen mode they take all the clutter you previously had and shove it into the corners is really nice, now i can see further and it makes the game look better. But as of now i still play on like the shit graphics until they fix the lag with the good ones. Also on a side note if you think it's lagging just because your computer blows you're probably wrong, i ran it with 4gb of ram, 1gb of video memory, and 3.22ghz processor and it lags a shit load.

After playing runescape even more i've seen alot of people still complain about lag, hopefully they'll fix this sometime!

If you want to find out about the lag, read the forums. All i can say is that it lags because all people are downloading the updates.. something like that,.

Well I am both happy and upset. I think that it is a big improvement, but really there is still work to be done before it is out of beta. And I agree with whoever said that full screen is neat, but the graphics are not 'epic' enough to really deserve it. Though it does place you more in the game.
And that's where the bad comes in for me. I've played for numerous years now and remember when members first came out and signed up that same day it was available, I also remember RS2 and hating it, but now I've learned to accept it. The whole time though during those updates RS was still small and 'lunch-break' style. I think Jagex might be trying to step it up more and I wouldn't be surprised if we saw more options being 'pay' options with fees.
Also it kind of puts a damper on autoing at the moment :(

Those screenies look awesome :D but I don't think the lag is because of download as i was playing at 02:30 GMT when almost noone is on the British servers and it was Epic lag, I mean it took like 5 seconds sometimes to catch up again!

Jagex have done so much to piss the fans off no wonder most people say that Runescape players are idiots, we sit down and take it off these guys!

They have the "split face" error with the Mime Mask too, and the Mime Gloves will double your shadow size. xD

Honestly, this might get me interested in the game. They did a very good job with this update, and since more people will be playing, we can expect some quality updates.

Look, to everyone saying about the lag there's an answer to that. People are still downloading the new cache. Just give it a few days, maybe even less. I'm running on 3 ghz, 1 gb ram and 125mb graphics card 10mb net, and there's only a bit of lag in full screen. Keeping in mind i have ALL of the graphic enhancers on.

Trust me, these graphics own and will only get BETTER. Still in beta ;)

I think the new graphics are pretty cool, both in HD and lowest detail.

i think there ok should make it easier to auto because more dynamic colors=gg

I like the look of the new graphics… but there are some serious bugs, and im pissed that fagex made it members only beta… but i went on my friends account, and it makes me mad that there are like 15 buttons in a row on the bottom. i swear it takes me 10 seconds to find my inventory tab.

And i full agree with pinky: fagex is just trying to cover up pking. fuck you fagex, fuck you. :f:

I don't have the best computer, 2.2 GHz, 1 GB of RAM of which Vista eats half and a 160 kb/s download speed.

However, I can run Runescape full screen on highest without any problems. The only time it gets laggy is when anti-aliasing is on. That's what some of you may want to turn off.

i think the update is bad because a lot of scripts and autoers arent working

I could imagine it's a strain on their servers, i dislike the update. Runescape was fine with mediocre graphics. It was the gameplay that made it king.
