Iv always thought that it may be prety easy for jagex to target autoers though specific things in our script. Someone can make an account, download a free script, and look though the code for SOMETHING that makes it differnt from real players and just look for it amounst the players of runescpe.
Maybey look for some antiranom talking and look for specific sentances programed into scripts ect ect
I think its prety easy for jagex to do all this but then again idk if they actualy do that and have the time or scar knowlege to read our scripts

I think only safe things are the SRL member things we talk about
When we talk about autoing "techiniqes" and things like that on non SRL member forums its just like ballbering it out for jagex to target
mybey im just paraiod:duh: :f:

Thoughs? Commetts?
am i crazy?:bart:

well, if jagex knew about SRL, the first thing they would do would e to change the random event so out antirandom doesnt work. then after that they would start the scripting

also i bet they would do something to make RadialRoadWalk stop working

First off, I think a lot of us think about this sometimes (well I do), so you're not unreasonable paranoid.

A fact to consider is that making RS auto proof is one of the many things the programmers have to keep up with. Another is that within this section of work, making it more difficult for SCAR is an even smaller subsection.

As for having the programming knowledge to reverse engineer our scripts, I'm sure they do. Even if no one there knew pascal/delphi someone could learn pretty quick, especially after knowing java etc. So they have the potenial to reverse engineer, but I'm not sure about strong enough motive or man/computational power.

I think that looking for what makes a script look different would be very difficult. First, there are many different scripts. Second, scripts can be customized by individuals, which sorta means there are even more. Third, they are many many legit players that could cause too many false positives. Fourth, it would take a lot of computational power.

This leads me to believe that fighting against the way SCAR works, and general scripting works would be more effective. SCAR is like eyes that see the screen and hands that can use the mouse and keyboard. This is so fundamental and basic that they won't change the game so much that color picking doesn't work. So they attack the general way we script, the brain in the previous metaphor. An example is that we used to pick a road color, and then follow it, that was the general way we did things. Then they made colors shift, so Fakawi invented a way to repick the color, thus changing the way we road walk. I think this sort of thing will be our main concern, changing they way scripts think so that they can handle more and more of what the human brain can handle.

So, jagex knowing the way do things does give them some idea of what to change, however I think they could find stuff to change that would screw is up temporaily even without that. Basically, all they have to do is make the game more complex so that it requires more human-like 'thinking on your feet'. And all we have to do is make the brains/scripts more complex to match it.

As for keeping our techniques secret, I'm not sure where to go on that. We need as many good scripters as we can get, so we need to encourage learning. But also we don't want just anyone knowing. I am a magician in real life, and the magic community has the same problem- we want to encourage new guys to come in so we can pass down knowledge, but without blabbering it out to everyone. I'm not sure what to do this, so I'll say leave it as it is for now, seeing as the 9/27 update was handled so fast.

Yakman has a good point with the randoms thing. Although some randoms have changed, and antirandoms have changed with them. So maybe jagex is putting less energy into that.

As I typed this, I had idea that Yakmans last thing sparked. First a little story. In greek mythology, (I like it a lot, Boreas was the god of the north wind) Prometheus (us) gave power to the people in the form of fire and knowledge (scripts). Zeus(jagex) got mad at him had a raven(antirandoms, macro detection etc) eat Prometheus's liver everyday (it grew back). One day, Heracles (my idea) killed the raven and freed Prometheus. What if we created Project Heracles, a sort of industrial espionage/counter intelligence thing. One function of Heracles would be to think of ways to beat us, WWJD (what would jagex do) to stop radialroadwork etc. Of course this would be kept top secret to not give them any ideas. Heracles would also think of ways to defeat these potenial problems. The other function of Heracles, perhaps more important, would be dedicated to finding out what exactly the 'raven' is. They would do experiments that isolate possible bannage variables. For example, have 2 people create noobs and use the same script, they would both not have randomness in clicks, except one would get reported (by other Heracles members) and one would not (we would make sure no one else is around except other Heracles members). I dunno, it just seems like jagex knows more about us than we do about them.

i say we test differrent bannage scripts, and whatever works best, we dont do!

If the players don't complain about us in particular, there's not much incentive for them to come after us when they could be improving the game and getting more customer satisfaction. If they do want to stop autoers, it would mainly be those who own armies of autos that run simultaneously. (Think Edgeville yews.)

WOW! nice perspective i never thouhg of it like that
if we auto but dont annoy anyone they have no reason to care for us!
Nice =)

iv rememebered something from reading that.

when jagex explain their rules, in the macroing seciton, they say something like "in the past when we have enforced this rule less, we had ordinary players demanding we enforce the rule"

this seems to me that jagex only stop autoing because it annoys the legit player. but at SRL, our players are generally lvl 20 or so, and they only auto one at a time, mostly we arnt detected by the majoriy of legit players. so they dont complain to jagex a lot. which means they dont try to stop us too much

if someone found a way to auto with scar on loads of accounts at once, then there'd be a problem. this is why im so concerned about IBot, it a color clicker which can do two accounts at a time. (for now). and if scar can use virtual machines, so can IBot. if it gets out of hand like in aryan, jagex will kill IBot, and i bet scar will go down with it

hopefully the guys at impsoft will keep the leechers population at a minumum. like have a leecher version which only has one applet.

If there's a moderately complex setup, no worries.

For Ibot I believe there's a few scripts that you have to edit the Java, which most noobs don't know how to do, and sending the arguments to the script.

But, IBot is coming out with a pro version that is specifically designed for profits, it even has a tut island runner :\

now i gota learn java and pay for the pro version (i just want the tut runner :p):(

forget paying! (especcial to cimpsoft)!!!
madcow is making a tut runner i got the beta version
just wait hes working a few bugs out and then he will replease

Oh, I didn't get the impression that it was going to be a pay version, I thought it was gonna be free.

really? Then wat will you have to do to get it?

i am member of impsoft, there is free version and pay version, called "PRO", which ruler is just making
