I use the newest version of AVG free, 8.0 I think it is.
You might find
this article in the Times interesting. It covers a report from Which? which shows that commercial anti virus programs provide no more security than free programs.

Symantec Corporate Edition with all the goodies. I love it and have been using it for about three years now with no problems at all ever happening to my PC.
: )
And for my mac…well…needless to say "What viruses?"

i only have COMODO installed, but i have a vm loaded with an updated Norton 360. needless to say that i never turn COMODO on unless im about to do something fishy (like plugin in a thumb drive or i think its blocking something. i most often check for viruses in small files with virus total. performance for me is everything. needless to say sometimes you can get more performance with beauty as a side effect. like Aston shell, (most of its skins take less memory and processor than explorer.exe{it replaces it}).

I also use Avast. It is great, free, and number 3 on quite a few of the antivirus ranking websites on the net. It has helped me avert crisises a lot of times, and it is free. FREE!
Oh, and Personally, I think McAfee swallows a bit less memory than norton.

Hmmmmmmk. I've noticed that norton does use quite alot of memory and used to slow my old computer down when i run it. I will try something new when I get my new laptop. (My mum controls this computer like hell, so she won't let me download a different virus program.)

AVG 8.0. Works fine. Once it found a virus on my computer (for some reason I had started using a different AV -.-) after I reinstalled it. There were over 500 infected files, and, believe it or not…it cleaned it :eek:.

Norton, AVG 8.0 PRO, and SpyHunter
(Norton doesn't detect Adware/Spyware)
SpyHunter is best for the spy/adware.
AVG is just amazing :D

lol there are virus scanners and firewalls. whats the point of a scaning for a virus if it cant even get in…
to boost my pc's performance, i dont have i virus scanner. i just use a firewall. seriously, what is the point…
firewall i use is called kerio sunbelt….it can be very simple, or complex, i like mine simple. i just set all options to no and block all traffic. then i set learning mode. so when ever something tries to acces the internet a popup comes up and says is it ok…then itl make a perm rule and never bother me again. also blocks ads. somtimes, itl block safe sites, but thats cuz u messed with it too much. mine is an old version of it. otherwise, i use PANDA av+fw its very good, and i got a reg key so its good 4 a year.

welcome to the jungle, but i do take care and scan certain suspicions files online. and for those large torrent downloads i use norton 360 installed on a VM. and yes mcafee and norton a cording to pc magazine reportedly made a file transfer take over 60% longer than without anti virus. (mcafee did somewhat better)

NOD32 2.70 all t3h way d00d.
@Markus: So true ;)
BTW guys, Norton stinks really bad. It has a huge 'footprint' (wastes a lot of your CPU) and it doesn't even detect many viruses.

I dont think NOD32 has a scanning feature? all it does is detect not scan?

Lol? Of course it has an option to scan… and Detecting is pretty much the same as scanning -.-
In the first tab, go to the NOD32 button and click on Run NOD32 Local Scanning to scan. Lulz.

I normally just use norton, but i also have McAfee to use (its weaker version I use as backup). If I stumble upon something really bad, i normally use a free web scanner( because some are quite powerful), and then manually delete it myself.

Use to have Eset NOD, but I traded up for Kaspersky, works like a charm. Usually ranked in the top 3 with Eset nod and bitdefender.
@chitin
I hope your firewall detects program access as well, otherwise a Trojan could just inject itself into your web browser and get past it without any problem.
