S.M.A.R.T. not working and I need my own answers.

I have been through about every thread so far and have read up on EVERYTHING. Well close enough. I have the SMART closing problem. I have updated my Worlds.ini, I have highest version of Java, I have the missing ".dll" file for vista, I have tried adding a wait(4000) in between the SmartSetup and SetupSRL and everything. Give me suggestions. I will try anything to get this to work. Because I'm starting to get annoyed.

try running this script:

Program SmartTest;
{.include srl/srl/misc/Smart.scar}
begin
SmartSetupEx(1, False, False);
Wait(60000);
end.
If that fails - no Smart pop up - then I suggest deleting your Smart plugin from your Scar/plugins folder and performing another checkout then move plugins. If it still fails, then it's because it doesn't like you.

Alright well that script didn't work but while exploring the conents of my Program Files I came across something peculiar. A file reading SCAR 3.15 without a lot of the files in it, but a subversion in it, and another file just called SCAR with all the needed files but no subversion. There is also a Subversion installed by itself in the program files. I'll try getting rid of the SCAR 3.15 file, then uninstall everything, and reinstall SCAR 3.15 and the Subversion so that those are the only two things that are related in the program and files. Then i will Check Out again with the subversion, Move the Plugins and try again. If ALL of that doesn't work then It looks like you were right and SMART just does not like me. I will look for other solutions too if that doesn't work. I'll post my results.

Edit: Well I did all that restarted the comp and everything aaaand still nothing. Im going to go try to redownload the ".dll" File to see if that fixes anything.

Edit: Alright well i opened up the SCSS application and it did not work. So i explored it and changed some settings and reloaded it aaaaand IT WORKED! I tried your script and got the window to open and I got the Start and Stop Blocking button and everything. Thank you for all your help Mixster :)

He said it in his reply - his Scar got messed up severely so he just removed it all and installed from fresh.
Also, no problem though I don't think I did anything :)

Well I actually lied. I opened up SCSS and changed the Default World setting. Then when i ran the script and I used the world i changed the default to it worked… But it wouldn't work or other worlds. I will have to look up on why its doing that. Or just use a different world default everytime i run a script.

Edit: When i say i lied i don't mean about the extra files those were real lol

Edit: Haha now things are just getting screwy! I thought it was just the non member worlds that weren't working at first but i found out that THE only world that works for me and SMART is world 83 haha. Screwy no?

Edit: Alright so after long hours… This is what i have concluded. For me anyways. SCSS will not open any world other than 83, although when running SMART in a script it opens up any MEMBER world just fine. It will not open NON MEMBER worlds. So maybe its just me that had this rare occurance, but if not these are the steps I recommend.

1. Be sure to have SCAR and your Subversion install CORRECTLY.

2. Be sure to have your ".dll" file if it is missing. Its found in a sticky under the S.M.A.R.T. forum.

3. Open up SCSS application under the SCSS folder in your SCAR program files folder, and play with the default worlds and whatnot in there.

4. Try waiting for SMART to start by adding a Wait() command in the script.

5. If all else fails Uninstall and Reinstall.

(6). Also this didn't happen to me but I hear that sometimes you need to update your Worlds.ini in the SCSS folder. Redo a "Checkout" and "Move Plugins" and "Cleanup" to update it, or do it manually by finding the list of worlds (They are posted all over the place in the S.M.A.R.T. forums) and replace those with the ones already in your Worlds.ini.

No further comments.

no he said he changed some settings but didn't mention which, I was wondering what he did specifically, incase I/someone else ever get(s) the problem.

yes if it says 'Msvcr71.dll' google it than you'll get a link but it should be the first result. i had the same problem but it fixed..

if its a different dll use file search and see if its on your computer if not download it, preferably from a microsoft site or a popular dll website.
